^^ He's in the best shape of his life,go Ronaldo (Y) .

Also Terry's injury is something else I know it was accidental, but still it shouldn't be on a soccer pitch.Hopefully Diaby appologized and Terry will recover.

Tue Feb 27, 2007 10:59 am

I'd like to see Ronaldo play again like he did in Inter Milan, that would be nice.

Tue Feb 27, 2007 12:22 pm

Huge result for Man Utd today.

English roundup

LONDON (AP) -- John O'Shea scored in injury time to give Manchester United a 1-0 victory at Liverpool on Saturday and stay nine points ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League.

Chelsea later won 2-0 at Portsmouth, but is running out of time to win a third straight league title.

With United down to 10 men after the expulsion of Paul Scholes, Reds goalkeeper Pepe Reina failed to hold Cristiano Ronaldo's powerfully hit free kick and O'Shea drove the rebound into the roof of the net.

Scholes was sent off in the 85th minute after lashing out at Xabi Alonso for the Red Devils' first red card of the season.

"Liverpool will feel very unlucky and they deserve to," United manager Alex Ferguson said. "It was a fantastic result. We had a lot of narrow escapes and Liverpool upset our rhythm.

"It is a massive result for us. We broke away late on against Fulham and scored and now we've done it here. We've had that bit of luck in the last two weeks but you need luck if you are to win titles."

At Fratton Park, Didier Drogba scored his 29th league and cup goal of the season in the 33rd minute and Salomon Kalou added a second in the 82nd.

United has 72 points from 29 games and Chelsea has 63 from 28. The Blues still have to host United.

"Are they lucky?" asked Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho of United. "Yes. They win in the last minute and they have no injuries, so the gods are with them. But we have to be honest and fair with them and give them what they deserve, which is big respect to the manager and the players.

"Our job is to keep winning matches and get back to six points (deficit) and have the pressure on them. We have to win all our matches and wait for them to drop some points."

Arsenal shrugged off its run of three losses by edging Reading 2-1 at home to move within a point of third-place Liverpool.

Also Saturday, it was: Fulham 1, Aston Villa 1; Manchester City 0, Wigan 1; Newcastle 0, Middlesbrough 0; Sheffield United 1, Everton 1; Watford 2, Charlton 2.

Despite upcoming vital Champions League games, both Liverpool and United fielded full-strength lineups with winger Ryan Giggs making his 700th appearance for the Red Devils.

In the 27th minute, John Arne Riise's low shot flew just wide of the far post after a free kick. Liverpool should have gone ahead in the 32nd when Craig Bellamy got past Nemanja Vidic, but his cross couldn't find the unmarked Dirk Kuyt in front of goal.

United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar had to dive full-length to push a low shot from Bellamy round the post in the 47th as Liverpool continued to create chances in the second half. Two minutes later, Bellamy had the ball in United's net -- only for the goal to be disallowed for offside.

Wayne Rooney went off the field with blood oozing from a cut on his right thigh after a challenge by Jamie Carragher. But the striker should be available for Wednesday's Champions League game against Lille with United leading 1-0 from the first leg. Liverpool hosts Barcelona on Tuesday, leading 2-1.

After Scholes had been sent off, Liverpool had another chance to win the game with three minutes to go. Substitute striker Peter Crouch controlled a cross and shot from six meters (yards), only for Van der Sar to block the ball by diving to his left.

It was the first time the two northern powerhouses had met since they both became owned by American businessmen.

Malcolm Glazer, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL team, and his sons control United. Tom Hicks, owner of the Dallas Stars NHL ice hockey team and the Texas Rangers MLB baseball club and George Gillett Jr., owner of the Montreal Canadiens NHL ice hockey team, recently bought Liverpool.

Arsenal's Gilberto Silva scored from the penalty spot after 51 minutes and Julio Baptista added a second in the 62nd. An own goal by Cesc Fabregas handed the Royals a reply three minutes from the end at the Emirates Stadium.

West Ham, which hosts Tottenham on Sunday, slipped to last place on goal difference as Watford held 18th-place Charlton 2-2. The Hornets lost a two-goal after Hameur Bouazza and Damien Francis had scored in the first 21 minutes at Vicarage Road. Luke Young replied in the 67th and Darren Ambrose made it 2-2 with a header a minute from the end.

West Ham and Watford have 20 points and Charlton 24. Wigan jumped two places to 15th by winning 1-0 at Manchester City through Caleb Folan's 18th-minute goal that dropped City to 17th place, six points above the relegation zone.

Rob Hulse gave Sheffield United a 52nd-minute lead only for Mikel Arteta to level for Everton from the penalty spot in the 75th.

Fulham and Villa also finished level at Craven Cottage, John Carew giving the visitor a 21st-minute lead but Carlos Bocanegra replying for the Cottagers two minutes later.

James Milner hit the bar with a free kick but Newcastle was held at home by Middlesbrough.

Thu Apr 05, 2007 6:04 am

Anyone saw the champions league match between Bayern Munich and Milan yesterday ?

It was full of great soccer and some heart attack moments. Most notably in the last second in the game where Bayern tied it to 2-2. I can't wait for the next match between these two,I can feel that its going to be a great 90 minutes of soccer .

Thu Apr 05, 2007 9:20 am

I'm not saying Bayern should have won, just that that penalty against Kaka wasn't a penalty.

Tue Apr 10, 2007 11:21 pm

Manchester United is playing the 2nd leg at home tomorrow morning against Roma at 4:30am. Hopefully I can get up and watch the match.

Fri Apr 20, 2007 4:01 am

Wow

Fri Apr 20, 2007 11:42 am

Theres been a huge debate these past two days as to whether or not this goal is better than Maradona...or rather if its the best run from inside a players own half on the way to goal ever. It surely was a beauty I must say and its right up theres with goals like the ones by Ronaldo and Zlatan.

Fri Apr 20, 2007 8:30 pm

That was sensational! I can't get over the speed of it.

Sat Apr 21, 2007 4:09 pm

Tomorrows final game of VfB Stuttgart will be live-broadcasted in more than 100 countries. the dramatic of the situation is that Schalke 04, one of the clubs with worlds most fanatic supporters (and they have a biiiig following), who looked like the champion through the whole season, lost its last but one game against their biggest enemy Borussia Dortmund and gave the lead to Stuttgart.
that happened to Schalke for about the 5th time in history
I`m looking forward to watch Stuttgart getting it done.

Thu May 24, 2007 4:22 am

Champions League Final is on right now on ESPN2 (US) live from Athens - Liverpool and A.C. Milan. Go Rossoneri!

Just so you know if you cant catch it on the tele you can watch matches on the Univision website.

Oh yeah, today Wayne Rooney was given the #10 jersey at Man Utd. Anderson's work permit has also been granted so all is set for our duo (alongside Nani).

Sat Jun 30, 2007 11:32 am

So anybody been watching the Copa America?

Comeback win against Ecuador  I don't know why but I get the feeling Brazil will attack with everything they got against Chile.
Argentina is easily the favourite.

Tue Jul 03, 2007 5:05 am

Yeah, we lost 0-3. But the score was unfair.

But, in the Under-20 WC, we won 3-0 against Canada. Take that, cy, raptors, and hockey.

Fantastic performance by Robinho. I love this player, he is little but he's a genius.
