Have you seen the Aug 14 Smackdown episode? The Mike Knox promo is great. Seems like they are going to give him a new gimmick. Dr. Mike Knox maybe?
Mon Aug 17, 2009 11:53 pm
I missed that but anything's worth a try I guess. Up until know he's been a fairly boring generic monster heel.

Knox after assaulting Finlay:
"You know Finlay, it's common knowledge there are 206 bones in the human body. What fascinates me is the slightest trauma on the cervical vertebrae leaves one in quite a lot excruciating discomfort."
I think we need to say hello to a new doctor on Smackdown. It could be like the old school dentist gimmick of Kane imo.

I hope not, that was pretty awful in retrospect but admittedly a product of the times. I think it would be better if he played it as a psychopath who has some knowledge of the anatomy (perhaps calling himself a "doctor") which he puts to use to inflict pain upon his opponents.

Noticed that there's still no photo (in WWE.com) of Jeff Hardy with the WHC, only old photos with the belt just placed over it. Seems to me there will be another title switch + Hardy being released.
Thu Aug 20, 2009 1:24 pm
Supposedly Hardy's gonna take some time off after SS, so yeah my money is on Punk on Sunday.
Thu Aug 20, 2009 4:26 pm
Guess they haven't worked out an extension past Summerslam. I for one hope to see Hardy back in the WWE after his sabbatical, his mike work isn't the greatest and his championship reigns not the most memorable era of pro wrestling history but seeing him at the top has been refreshing and he's a great worker. If he does take time off, hopefully they can do a surprise return angle. That's one of the things I didn't like about HBK's return skit, I'm more a fan of surprise run-in returns.
Saw this posted over at WNW this morning. It won't be out here until next month, but I'll definitely be picking it up.
I suppose just how much truth is in the DVD remains to be seen considering it's a WWE production, but then I'm not sure we'd get an entirely truthful account if it were Eric Bischoff telling the story either. As they say, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Yeah I have to agree there, just based on that tiny preview it seems more of a "they lost, we win" sort of thing. Especially the first half where it shows them bragging about the ratings... interesting that Hulk and Goldberg are involved, they weren't on the Monday Night Wars DVD.

Ezekiel Jackson has cool entrance music.

Wonder when will the "Rise and Fall of the WWE" DVD would be out.

I looked this up on YouTube, one of my favorite Raw matches evar:

TNA's Impact: the rise & fall of WWE. Available on DVD summer 2015.

At the rate they're going, I doubt it. I had high hopes for TNA but they managed to mess it up. Now, I'm not really following any wrestling shows regularly.

Replace straight edge with any religion and CM Punk turns into a religious zealot. If they only would let him wrestle and not do those crappy kicks.

There'll definitely be that edge to it but then I guess history is written by the winners and WCW did make some bad decisions in its final couple of years of operation. There's no denying WCW's dominance in the ratings or the longevity dating back to the days as Crocket promotions so there should be a fair amount of truth in there, even if there is a bit of "We won" at the end of the documentary...which they're entitled to I guess, given the way Bischoff reportedly used to brag backstage in WCW how he was going to put McMahon and the WWF out of business.

Not going to happen. WWE just has too much money to go out of business anytime soon and TNA's still a long way from being able to realistically compete with them. To put it into perspective, Impact's ratings tend to be equivalent to ECW's ratings and often only slightly above WWE Superstars and they certainly don't have the same production values or the ability to compete financially just yet. They've got some really talented workers but the major angles at the moment are pretty much a rehash of the late years of WCW.
In fact, it's more likely that they'd be out of business by 2015 than the WWE since they're doing a poor job of elevating new people and instead pushing the old faces (some of whom are labouring to work a decent match right now) who will likely be out of the game by then. Unless they do a better of job of elevating their younger and talented workers, the guys who could be main eventing for them in a few years are either going to be in the WWE anyway or won't be credible main eventers having never gotten the rub from the old faces and not properly built.

I like how Shawn Micheals end the match.

.
I think after this is where Shelton have that storyline where he beats Triple H like 2 time in a row or something? Or I am wrong?
Sun Aug 23, 2009 2:29 am
I actually don't remember. But this is the tournament wherein the winner faces Batista at Backlash (or was it?). I enjoyed the match, felt it was too short, but hell - THAT WAS A SOLID KICK.

No you're right, Benjamin did pick up two or three wins over HHH. Nothing much ever came of it though and it didn't end up elevating Benjamin.

I spend an hour trying to pick up girls. Even the white bouncer gave me lip. This world is weird.
Sun Aug 23, 2009 11:28 am
Weird too that you posted that here.

My attempt in trying to find like minded peopple weird, Ok, Guess you are an alien.

There seem to be some conflicting reports about Jeff Hardy's immediate future in WWE. It's being reported that he hasn't signed a new contract and is expected to finish up at the Smackdown tapings next week if not at Summerslam, but Matt Hardy posted a message on his Twitter that implied that Jeff would be sticking around longer than that.
Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:21 pm
I think the WWE really needs Jeff to stay.
Mon Aug 24, 2009 12:32 am
I agree, though hopefully The Undertaker will be returning soon.
Mon Aug 24, 2009 4:54 am
He's gone, mark my words.
That's why they wanna bring Taker back ASAP, to start a program with CM Punk.
