Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Perhaps it's just a lack of experience or maybe it's just not his strong suit. Some wrestlers have just been naturals on the mike. It's probably easier to cut a heel promo too since you can be as arrogant and cocky as you like, insulting the crowd for cheap heat and the like.

Meh, seen YouTube videos of Triple H's entrance in 'Mania 25. The one shown in TV (where he broke a wall of glass) is pre-recorded.

Here's what really happened live:
That's why after he broke the glass (on TV) the next shot, no shards of glass are seen behind him.

I figured as much. That would've been a pretty risky stunt.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:32 pm
Wwe can keep Gail Kim. Tna now has Sarita and Cheerleader Melissa (actually in the ring and not just being Kongs mouthpiece). I thought it was an excellent wrestling match for both of them.

I watched a bit of TNA last night (the latest episodes are shown on Saturday nights here). I was impressed with the ring work but some of the angles and Don West's commentary...meh. There's a lot of potential in that company and they're growing, which can only mean good things for the industry as the WWE needs legitimate competition to be at its best. But right now, TNA's definitely got problems of their own in my opinion.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:21 pm
I think that the retardation of wwe is worse than the sucktitude of tna.
I don't want to see 2 black guys from the suburbs telling me the ghetto word of the day while having a white guy play a wigger.
Or watch a man in drag wrestle around in the mud. I dare say the quality of skits in wwe is not much better than tna's if at all. And since Flair got pushed out, the best promo guy's in the business are not in wwe.
Plus tna has more slams.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:36 pm
Yeah there's some awful stuff in the WWE, don't get me wrong. But TNA has some really re-hashed angles and over-the-hill guys in the main event. I think they've kind of blown it with Samoa Joe too, after that huge build-up a couple of years back.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:43 pm
TNA is awful. As bad as the WWE is I think TNA is worse... the only positive is that they at least have original ideas and aren't pandering to 5 year olds. That aside, I can't stand it.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:47 pm
Yeah. Some guys they have in the main even shouldn't even be wrestling anymore. Like Nash can barely walk and Sting looks broken too. Steiner also looks like every slam hurts him a lot and he is doing it for the money.
Although Kurt Angle is looking better than he did a year ago. Maybe he rekindled his past romance with hgh. Or fucking Chaka Khan has magically healing effects.
Don't talk about Joe. It used to be "Joe's gonna kill you".
Now he's that crazy guy running around with a hatchet. He pretty much sucks.
Do you think that since Jeff Jarret is a fruitcake, he is the one coming up with names like Angelina Love, Velvet Sky and Alyssa Flash? I can see it coming from him for some reason.
All in all I like both companies more then I dislike them, so I'm happy.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:52 pm
Angle is a machine. You've got to respect his guts and his heart the way he goes out there and still attempts moonsaults and the like despite how brittle his neck is supposed to be after all the injuries. I hadn't really checked out TNA for a while though, so his beard was a bit of a surprise. Kind of an odd look for his character, but he gets the job done in the ring.

True, though the Main Event Mafia kind of reminds me of the nWo with a dash of the ill-fated WWF "Invasion" angle for some reason. Some great wrestling in the X Division though.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:58 pm
Yes, the mem is a lot like the nwo, but at least Russo (if he's the reason) stopped making every other match something on a pole.
And how many reasons to fight could a person come up with anyhow?

I can't take him seriously. I think he's a really good wrestler (especially for his size) but I mean when I look at him I just see a tubby Samoan kid, not a "real bad ass" as Mick Foley said in his book.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 7:05 pm
He used to be a badass. But he didn't look like the rock. That's all he ever did wrong.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 7:11 pm
It's definitely the fault of the booking, the build was great and then they kind of made him look weak. Giving Angle the title belt and joining MEM just feels like a classic "Russo swerve" to me.
Sun Jul 19, 2009 7:18 pm
He should be put on a pole for doing that to joe. Although I also blaim jarret for not wanting to pull the trigger on him.
Joe used to be the guy that would fuck you up. Now he's all gimmicky and lame. ugh.

Caught a little bit of RAW yesterday. Triple H saved the opening segment with his mike work and his interactions with Cena were pretty good, but before that it was just Cena pandering and Orton droning. Orton is being made to look pretty weak these days, first backing away from Cena then scattering along with Rhodes and Dibiase when HHH came out, even though the numbers were still in their favour. I think he's better as a psychotic heel than a cowardly one.
Thu Jul 23, 2009 10:31 am
Agreed, though I sense that the WWE is putting another superman run on Cena or HHH. And the kiddie approach minimized Orton's psycho image (like the one in '07 and in the WrestleMania 25 feud).
Thu Jul 23, 2009 11:05 am
Yeah that's a good point. I still think the punt is stupid though. You might kick out after a steel chair shot, but watch out for Randy Orton's boot!
Thu Jul 23, 2009 2:48 pm
Same here. I don't get why people get knocked out by getting hit with Orton's boot. No matter who sells the hit, it's really not believable at all.
Thu Jul 23, 2009 3:09 pm
That's not to say getting kicked in the head isn't dangerous, of course. The way Bret Hart's career ended is proof of that. However, it's silly in this day and age that the punt puts people out for weeks but being bashed with a "steel" chair or a sledgehammer or whatever will not.
Thu Jul 23, 2009 3:44 pm
The punt is usually to the temple. Weakest part of the skull.
Whereas even if a chair shot is not partially blocked by the hands, it's most of the times aimed at the cranium. Which I think is the strongest part of ones head.
Thu Jul 23, 2009 4:22 pm
Orton kicks upward.

Fair call. But still, there are other things that aren't sold as being almost as dangerous or devastating that probably should be. I don't know...I don't mind old school wrestling, but the punt is just a bit too old school to really work in today's wrestling in my view.
Thu Jul 23, 2009 4:56 pm
He kicked a lot of people in the head. They should play this for his entrance vid.
Thu Jul 23, 2009 5:56 pm
I just watched RAW last night. ZZ Top as guest host is so boring.
