An organizer for the event that works with management of the arena was also said to have been offended by some off air comments Chris Jericho made towards the crowd.

That's why I <3 Jericho.
The offended people doesn't seem to know much how wrestling works these days.

Gotta give it up for The Miz. Just when you're running out of reasons to hate him, he comes along with a few more. Though truth be told, the moment they revealed his past as a "star" of reality TV, I was destined to despise the guy no matter what role he played on WWE TV.

He's not a bad worker though, but he's got one of the worst names for a finisher in the history of the industry.

I think Khali has more charisma though. Watching him trying to dance with R-Truth was awesome. Or kissing those "pretty" girls. He was great in get smart too.

Re: WWE Thread

A few thoughts on improving the current WWE product. I'll leave out "end the brand split" because it's obvious that one's just not going to happen, so I'll try to keep it in line with their current approach.

Ditch the PG Approach

It's even starting to affect their DVD releases as they edit out blood or turn the picture black and white when someone dons the proverbial "crimson mask". Traditionally the WWE has put out some excellent DVD releases but in doing things like that, they're really being insulting towards the older fans. As for the current programming, it just makes for more corny television and less credible gimmick matches. Besides, the PG approach is pretty hypocritical when you've still got things like the bikini tag match on this week's RAW (not that I'm complaining) and Triple H wielding a sledgehammer (there may not be blood, but he's still swinging it around). It's pushing the boundaries of "family entertainment", why not go the next step and stick with your parental advisory notices?

It's not that the product needs to be smutty or blood allowed to the excess. But the PG approach has made the product a lot less edgy and a lot more boring. They really need more serious competition.

Longer title reigns

I know, it's all scripted and the world champions have not won titles the same way boxers, MMA fighters and the like win honours. But within the context of the show, the "WWE Universe", they're supposed to mean something and they really don't. The major titles have been greatly devalued by quick changes and multiple reigns for familiar faces. Edge is a great wrestler, but he's a nine time world champion and that's just ridiculous. It's very difficult to care about the championships and while we're watching the product we should, because they're that extra element to a big match and add flavour to a main event bout. They're a great way of building up new stars too as it gets the fans behind a character they want to see climb to the top of the moutain. Bottom line, the champions are important.

The solution? Longer title reigns that mean something and build suspense to the eventual title change. Right now, who cares if a wrestler loses the belt? He'll probably have it back in a month or two. I'd also call for fewer championship belts but with two brands, they're kind of needed to establish the hierachy on RAW and Smackdown.

They could always go back to the original idea of the brand split and have the champion represent all brands (or at least RAw and Smackdown), kind of like what they're doing with the unified tag belts right now. Re-establish the IC or US title as the secondary belt to get the upper midcard over and save the major belt for the main eventers.

Tweak some characters

John Cena. He's a solid enough worker and from all accounts he's a good company man. He's certainly established himself these past few years. Much as people hate him, I think he's alright in his current position in the WWE even if I'm not a huge fan. And for all the people who've said they've always hated him - and I'm sure there are those who truly have - when he won his first WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 21, the reaction was huge and people had really gotten behind his push.

Unfortunately, his character has lost his edge and the "Superman Booking" has become stale and repetitive. To be a credible face, he needs to look more vunerable (though we've been saying that for years). He also needs to pander to the audience less. Triple H's current face run is a good example of what can get over with everyone these days. He entertains the crowd to a certain extent but doesn't pander and he's still sarcastic/snide/a little bit heelish. If Cena's character was a bit more like that, I think it would be more interesting.

I'm also getting very bored with Randy Orton. I know, I know, he's getting the heel reactions, he's a really good worker and all that but to me his current reign has been very lacklustre. When Jericho drones on in a monotone, there's just enough arrogance in his voice and delivery to make the character work. I like Jericho as a worker, from all accounts he's nothing like his current character and I have no reservation in calling him a great wrestler, but I want to see his current character get his ass kicked.

With Orton, I just don't care. Unlike Jericho, his monotone just comes off as bad mike skills. I may be in the minority here, but I'm seldom interested in what Orton has to say. He deserves his spot at the top, don't get me wrong, but I just don't care about his character when I'm watching the WWE product. I'm not exactly sure what he could do differently, but if nothing else I'd get rid of the punt. In 2009, I have difficulty buying into the concept that Randy Orton's foot is more powerful than a steel chair or a sledgehammer.

Change the announce teams

With all due respect to Michael Cole, he's flopped on RAW. I guess part of it is the mere fact he's not JR, but between his style and the mistakes he continues to make, I think they'd be better served going with JR as long as they possibly can. Don't replace the best in the company until you have to. JR meanwhile is being wasted as a psuedo-analyst on Smackdown. I'd rather see him paired up with King (even if it meant King going to Smackdown, though I think they should both be on RAW) with Cole and Grisham calling Smackdown. Josh Matthews and Matt Striker are fine as ECW's announce team.

Stop changing the names of pay-per-views

To be fair it's only the secondary PPVs but still, it's silly the way they change the names back and forth and some of the names just aren't very good. I'm still surprised that they're going with The Bash/The Great American Bash, considering how that was originally a WCW PPV. Find some names that work, and stick with them.

Bring back King of the Ring as an annual event/PPV, for all brands

This one is straightforward. You get another PPV that has some historical "prestige" that puts it somewhere between the big four and your average secondary PPV and you revive a tournament that's as good a way as any of building up a character and giving them a title shot to keep the main event scene fresh. Just don't restrict it to one brand, have wrestlers from all three brands competing much like Money in the Bank.

Yes to less belts and title changes, getting rid of cole and no more pg.

And I thought Micky James looked hottest in the bikini match. All the other girls are a bit boney. Like they could use a sandwich.

I think maybe because she looks most natural. No plastic parts and such.

I like how it used to be that the intercontinental championship was the number one contender belt. If you won it, it meant you would be gunning for the Heavyweight belt. Now it's what Jericho wins every other month.
And the us belt is like the reward for being the best jobber.
