NBA Jam, that brings back fond memories, particularly the "run it up, ignore your teammate" strategy on offense that was a better way of playing unless you had a human teammate.

1. That guy really sucks, never ever steal...shove every play. If you are on d, all your turbo should be used shoving and injuring those asswipes you're playing
2. I dont care how good Pippen Grant and Armstrong were, no jordan=bulls not worth playing in that game.

I remember trying to mod NBA Jam TE for the PC back in the day to change Ron Harper to Michael Jordan. Never had any luck with it.

Really? A better strategy is to block every single shot taken by "goaltending." It won't count as goaltending because you've been far away from the basket, but with the right timing and because you can jump so freaking high, it's easy to just grab the ball every time the CPU takes a shot. I figured it out one day and just ended up destroying the CPU every time. Ahhh, that was fun in the good ol' days.

If you time the shove just right, the shot wont even have a chance at going near the basket.

Meh, cryanide's strategy is my preferred one. Also in NBA Street series. Chasing players all over is silly when I can stand in one place and intercept 75-80% of the shots and immediately pass to a teammate running up court.

lmfao @ that video sparking debate

Fri Aug 29, 2008 6:01 pm

I did both. The method mentioned by cyanide is an easier way of playing D in that game though.

There are goaltending calls in the game though, except when you're on fire. I was always more of a fan of knocking them down right after the inbound whenever possible.

EDIT: How to almost throw away a game of NBA Jam (or in this case, NBA Hangtime):

The goaltending though is only if it's basically on the rim, you can intercept and block shots as they come down. Not that it isn't hard to block them as they're still going up.

In these kind of games I go for the steal on the inbound and then drop back to wait for the block if no success. Although, I often do that in regular NBA games after say the first quarter.

This is freaking me out. That game looks scary.

Don't you just wish that stuff that freaked you out just ceased to exist?

Oh...

You freak me out.

They must have updated it in Tournament Edition because I remember downward flight goaltending calls being made too, though perhaps a little more lenient than a sim-orientated game.
