Also, you can sign a player 6 months before his contract expires, so that'd be how they find the best players. In January/December just filter the search for guys with Expiring contracts and you'll see alot of better players.

Ah excellent, time to obtain some extra talent then :D

Season finally ended, we finished one spot outside of the Champions League places but awell, that was the ex managers fault. The first thing I did was get rid of all of the garbage, and there was plenty of it. We have guys like Fabio Cannavaro who are almost 100 years old and can barely move around the pitch anymore. I made a few more signings on top of the ones listed above, and then to make life insanely difficult the chairman gets on my back about signing big-name players. So I signed one, he wants more but I'll leave it upto him to get one for me.

Signings:

Antonio Benedetti
- Came in a part exchange deal from Roma.
Marco Antonio Caneira
- Portugese international, from the same part exch. transfer from Roma
Joao Coimbra
- Had a fantastic World Cup for Portugal, scored the winning goal in extra time against Holland in the 2nd round.
Emmanuel Eboue
- Signed on a free from Arsenal. Good replacement for Johnathan Zebina who I sold.
Tim Krul
- Buffon went down with an injury so I picked up Krul as a secondary back-up.
Vagner Leonardelli
- One of the best signings I ever made for Strasbourg, they didn't want him so I took him back.
Jeremy Mathieu
- Before I left Strasbourg I wanted to make one big signing, and he was it. Unfortunately the new manager is useless and almost wrecked his career, but I picked him up for 8 million less than I paid for him at Strasbourg.
Malaury Martin
- Could potentially play all over the park, will be a French international by the time I'm finished with him.
Moreira
- Signed as a back-up to Buffon, but now that he's injured will probably be starting.
Sebastian Nijenhaus
- Reminded me alot of Rick Kruys attributes wise, who didn't work out for me because he lacked decent physical attributes. Nijenhaus has those.
Raul
- Thought he might come in useful, a one year rental basically.
Rocha
- Playing in the middle of nowhere in Portugal, seems like a bargain.
Alberto Taddei
- The third player involved in the Roma part exchange deal.
Hugo Viana
- Grabbed my attention after his scored 2 goals in the World Cup against Trinidad & Tobago. Surprisingly he was out of contract so I got him free.
Vicente Munoz Gonzalez
- The golden boy of the Deportivo youth ranks. It was my "this is for firing me you fuckwits" signing.
Mirko Vucinic
- Better than Kisliy, dominated in the one season I had him. Can't believe he only cost 13 million when Kisliy cost 18.
Ze Castro
- Another Portugese international defender, will be starting for me.

My starting XI:

And secondary...

One thing I love about this game... Strasbourg won the French Ligue One again on the back of Sergey Kisliy and Mirko Vucinic dominating. They scored over 40 goals between them, but when the season finished all of the big teams came out after Kisliy and Chelsea eventually got him for 18 million. Then I took Vucinic off them for 13 million, which left them with two sub-par back-up strikers as their starting pair. Awesomely though, just three days after I bought Vucinic, Strasbourg made a loan offer for a Romanian international striker I have who is valued at over 7 million but not good enough to break the starting line-up. I thought it was quite cool, and realistic aswell (Y)

Sat Aug 12, 2006 12:17 pm

Looks like you are doing an awesome job with this team..
Im really liking the look of Vucinic and Mathieu.

I have a question regarding my game..
I started a game as Chelsea, and now that i have FM Scout, i decided to test it out, so i searched for all the guys i wanted, but would cost alot. I signed Kaka, Ballack, Michael Carrick, Aaron Lennon, and some other guys. Then yesterday, i installed the patch to update all the transfers and stuff, and started my game again. I wanted to sign Mark Gonzalez, after watching him in Liverpools Champions League Qualifier the other night, and FM Scout had him sale valued at around $13 million, so i offered $14 million. Liverpool replied, saying they would only agree to $18 million. I thought the sale value in FM Scout was the price they would agree to sell him for? So i decided to try someone else, so i offered the $18 million sale value they had for Michael Carrick at Man U. They declined so i kept offering, but they wouldnt even accept $25 million for him? Also, anyone have any ideas as to how i can move Lampard and Robben from Chelsea? Ive offered them to teams, but noone is interested. And before you start saying 'why the fuck are you selling those 2', i know theyre both awesome, but they dont fit into my future plans.

Any ideas for either of the above questions?

Sat Aug 12, 2006 5:44 pm

Ummm Jae was saying that FM Scout uses British Pounds, so you should make sure thats your in game currency too.

BTW you dont happen to have the link for the patch do you?

Sat Aug 12, 2006 6:06 pm

The one i used was made by FM Formation. Its supposed to be accurate as of 11/8/06.
http://www.fmformation.net/showthread.php?t=8632

And in regard to the currency, i did a test game and it worked fine, but ill give that a shot anyways.

Edit: Forgot to mention that you need to have patch 6.0.3 installed to be able to run the update. You can get that off the SportsInteractive site i believe. If you need it and cant find it, just let me know.

I think I've created a super-tactic

I was getting sick of trying to fit my players into my old Strasbourg tactic, since it didn't suit any of them. I figured it'd be worth a shot to just start from scratch and build a tactic to fit the players I have, so I did. I customised every individual players instructions and just hoped for the best. My first match with it was against AC Milan in some big cup final, this is what happened...

Image
Image
Image
Image

That's a full strength Milan side, I'm in the year 2010 so alot of those guys you might not recognise are pretty much super stars these days, and that same Milan team won the league last season.

Here's how the tactic looks...

Image

I had no idea it'd work that well.

Sun Aug 13, 2006 2:46 am

Looks killer, dont suppose you wanna upload it?

Sun Aug 13, 2006 11:54 am

Woah, i've never seen a player get a '3' rating. Was it a fluke game though? Tell us how your next few games go with those tactics.

SAO PAOLO FC YEAR 1 FM STORY UPDATE (87 games, 70 wins, 11 draws, 6 losses)

Image

I gave myself a 30 million dollar transfer budget (20 mil was for Fred) and increased reputation to start this game because I wanted to bring 2 or 3 Brazilians in Europe back to the country. I compensated the total cash held by the club with the same amount so we wouldnt go bankrupt.

Well its the end of my first full year at Sao Paulo so I decided to post a decent sized updated. I must say it has been a very successful season where the team, myself and my players have picked up quite a bit of hardware (Most importantly the domestic league). Just o get it out of the way, I won South American Manager Of The Year.

Unfortunately I cant provide full statistics because I started the new year so I can only check player history (which doesnt give full stats). If anyone knows how I can pull up stats in detail from previous seasons (ex. games played and substituted) can you please enlighten me. Hopefully next time I wont fuck up.

First, I will post the side and the tactic I have been running for a few weeks now.

SAO PAULO FC SQUAD LIST

Image

I know its odd to see all those DMs but no DM in the formation (only CMs), but this is so because all of them play both positions. This is ideal for the formation because they switch alot between the two.

FORMATION + PREFERRED STARTING 11

Image

This tactic has been excellent for my side all year and I average 3.0 goals and 0.5 conceded in the 87 games I have coach Sao Paulo so far.

ATTACK- The whole idea behind the formation is that when attacking, the left and right AMs will push for ward to join my striker up front and total 3 forwards. The 2 WBS will push up and replace the AMs and run alongside my AMC Ramon. The basically leaves me with 6 players assaulting the goal and 2 men back (with high defensive mentality) to hold off any serious counterattack threat which is mainly posed by a botched corner kick. Most times the WBs recover in time.

DEFENCE- The idea in this tactic is that when defending the WBs will run back and take up positions as right and left defenders leaving me with a backline consisting of 4 players. The 2 MCs will run back and take up positions as DMs so this leaves me with 6 guys to clog up the area in front of goal.

2006 COMPETITIONS

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A- Winners

Campeonato Paulista- Winners

Copa do Brasil- Winners (def Fluminese)

Copa Toyota Libertadores- Winners (def River)

Recopa Sudamericana- Winners (def River)

FIFA Confederations Club Cup- Winners (def Chelsea)
-I didnt win this one as much as Chelsea lost it. They totally dominated the game and our goalie (MoM Rogerio Ceni) was the one who rescued our ass. We held them to 1-1 in regulation and won it on PKs.

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A Stats (key players)

Danilo (AM) [Supporters Player Of The Year, Copa Toyota Libertadores Best Player]
Games(54), Goals(16), Assists(17), MoM(10)

-This guy has been excellent for me all year, the most consistent of all my players. He had 18 assists in the Copa Lib alone which was close to 2 per game if I remember correctly. He has around 40 assists total which is not indicated in the stats provided. He is 27 years old and has never played in Europe so I am looking to ship him off so he can make a bigger name for himself overseas. I already have a replacement lined up which I will elaborate on further down.

Fred (ST) [Brazilian 1st Division Top Goalscorer & Player Of The Year]
Games(29), Goals(38), Assists(8), MoM(10)

-Transferred over from French side Lyon after I declared an interest and he expressed a willingness to return to Brazil after finding it hard to adapt in France. As Jae knows this is my favourite player in the game so I could not refuse an opportunity to sign the guy. I intend to keep this guy here for years to come as he is set to become a legend at the club. His goalscoring record speaks for itself as he scored close to 60 goals in around 40 appearances. He has had his share of really bad games but he seems to almost always rebound with a multi-goal game.

Rogerio Ceni (GK)
Games(52), Conceded(27), Clean Sheets(33), MoM(1)

-What can I say about the guy, he is the best keeper in the region. This guy has rescued my team on far too many occasions and all though he is 33 years old I dont believe I will ship him off anywhere. He has great backups but I wish for him to retire in Sao Paulo colors. He is a fan favourite at the club and a class goalie.

Betinho (ST)
Games(31), Goals(19), Assists(5), MoM(4)

-He has scored about twice as many total goals as I have listed but since Fred's arrival he has been relegated to a supporting role off the bunch. I may train him to be a combo AM/ST since there will be more opportunities for him to play that way in my tactic. Very good player who if the right club knocks on my door I would gladly send him to Europe to make a name for himself.

Ramon (AM/FC) [Brazilian 1st Division Young Player Of The Year]
Games(47), Goals(22), Assists(15), MoM(6)

-This kid (18 years old) has held down the starting AMC position all year long. He is my mini Ronaldinho and many big clubs have already come calling but I intend to keep him a few more years. At least 2 more seasons. His stats dont tell the full story of a player who has tremendous potential. This guy seems to set up every attacking play for my side and has scored more than a few free kicks from long range.

2007 Transfers In (Current game date is January 7, 2007)

Daniel Carvalho (AM LC)- CSKA Moscow
-This is my Danilo replacement I was talking about earlier. He is 23 years old and I will start him immediately and see how he performs. I am hoping for the best as he has all the necessary ratings to play the position well including a 20 pass rating which is great considering he is replacing my main assist guy. I'm really excited about this player so I hope it works out and he will fit right in with his teammates.

Lenny (AM/FC)- Fluminese
-I am very excited about this guy. At first I was going for Sergio Aguero but decided to go after him instead after searhing around and finding some videos of this kid. He is a special one and at only 18 years old will be around for a while.

Edinho (DC/DM)- Internacional
-I was scouting this kid for quite a bit on my own for some time but couldnt agree on a fee that I was satisfied with. I cooled off my attempts to sign him for a few months then declared an interest and found he was keen to join the club. After quite a bit of negotiation I agreed on a fee which I felt was decent value so now he will be lacing it up for my side as the new season begins. I checked FM Scout and it seems this kid is on track to becoming one of the best defenders in the world so it will work out for me in the long run. Veryy very excited about this signing. He is 23 so I got him at just the right time.

Diego Souza (DM)- Benfica
-Wanted a top class CM for my starting 11 and he appears to fit the bill. Very nice stats and should command his place immediately. 21 Years old so its scary thinking what his ratings will be a few years from now.

Sidnei (DC)- Internacional
-I wanted a good young defender to add to my youth system and I stumbled on this kid who looks like he will be a stud in the future. Only 17 so he wont be seeing much 1st team action for a while.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Jancarlos (WBR)- Just got this guy a few months back and he has played exceptionally well. 23 years old so I am expecting alot out of him as my starting WBR to begin the next season. I have 2 or 3 other players battling for the spot but it is his to lose for the time being.

Eduardo Ratinho(WBR)- A young guy at the WBR position who I really want to see do well for the club. He is right there but just doesnt have what it takes to knock off Jancarlos at the moment. Still 19 years old so he has a long career ahead of him which I hope will be at Sao Paulo.

Fabio Santos(WBL)- Lock as a starter at the WBL position and every team in the universe wants his signature. He has declared his willingness to remain at the club so that is a relief. Great player and potentially the future captain of the team when Rogerio Ceni retires as everyone seems to list him as favoured personnel.

Kerlon(AM/FC)- Everybody knows this kid so its understandable why I would have him. Stole him from his former club and is a superstar in the making. I am keeping him on the bench for the time being but in no time he will look to cement a spot as a starting AM.

Richarlyson(D/WB/AM LC)- 24 years old and plays is one of those guys I can swap between AM and WB. Plays all over the pitch and is a target of many European clubs. I would let him go but he is my utility guy so its not gonna happen for now if I dont find a suitable replacement.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, my fingers are tired for now so it will stop here for now. I have been having alot of fun in the region and will play here until Real Madrid offers me a job . My long term goal is to manage the Brazilian National team and hopefully win a World Cup Trophy during my tenure. Next year should be very competitiive as Corinthians have made some very big signings and their squad is quite possible deeper than mine (according to scout ratings in FM Scout).

Now its time for some preseason action. (y)

EDIT; By the way, heres a result you dont see often.

15-0  great post (Y) I like the idea of sending guys off to Europe to make them more famous or whatever, sounds pretty cool. Check out Whoshington, he's awesome as I keep saying.

Anyways this thread's on like it's 6th page now and is fairly regularly updated, so I'll make it the first sticky of the Other Dynasty Stories section.

Who would've thought dadamafia would play as a Brazilian team. :P

@ Jae, Nesta got a 3 rating.
Interested to see how you play in your next match with your "super tactic"

Sun Aug 13, 2006 11:31 pm

@Jae
-Iwent out and bought him. Only 16 I belive so he should be in my youth system for a while.

Srbija wrote:Who would've thought dadamafia would play as a Brazilian team. :P

It was bound to happen at some time. :P

I never actually thought it would be as much fun as it has been. I just had a stadium expansion which leaves me with somewhere between a 96-98ooo capacity. Also, they just installed under-soil heating so things are looking up. "We're rich bitch!!!!"

edit: Just sent one of my guys to 1860 Munchen who just got promoted to Bundesliga. I'm excited for him because he is very good and is another one of those WB/AM combo players I have on my squad. I'm hoping for the best. (y)

edit: Just sent one of my DMs name Josue to Parma. He has played very well for my side but I really dont needmore than four and it would be a shame of he wasted time on my bench. If anyone gets injured I have a nice DM or two in my reserves and U-20s.

Mon Aug 14, 2006 1:37 pm

Awesome post Dada. Im definatley gonna have to look at some of those guys. (Y)

Mon Aug 14, 2006 1:45 pm

my god. the more i read this the more i want to play it. but when i play it, it confuses the fuck out of me

Mon Aug 14, 2006 1:49 pm

You just gotta have patience with it man.

....and you gotta love football.

Mon Aug 14, 2006 8:09 pm

Was it a fluke game though? Tell us how your next few games go with those tactics.

I've played two games since then, against Inter and Brescia both away from home. I won them both 2-0, which is good because after two away games (and one at Inter) I haven't conceded. Solomon Kalou is immense, really glad I signed him but it seems the entire tactic revolves around him. I've got three straight home games now, so I'll get a really good idea of how powerful this tactic is.

Game 1: vs Heerenveen in the UEFA Cup
4-0, Malaury Martin scores 2 in his Juventus debut.

Game 2: vs AS Roma
3-1, Solomon Kalou grabs a double to come from 1-0 down at half time to win.

Game 3: vs Fiorentina
1-1, Annoying but awell, hit the post a few times.

Game 4: @ Leece
3-2, not a bad effort. Solomon Kalou got another 2 goals, one right at full time.

Game 6: @ Heerenveen in the UEFA Cup Leg 2
1-0, I started a bunch of bench/Under 20's guys so it was a good result. 5-0 aggregate.

Hmm... manager of Chelsea has been sacked and I'm linked with the job. I think I'll stick with this one, but hopefully the next manager will take Kisliy out of the reserves

Game 7: @ Siena
4-1, Didn't start so well (1-1 at half time) but kinda dominated afterwards.

So it went pretty well, could be a little bit better (conceding too many) but it's alright. Kalou is a beast, 6 games, 8 goals, 2 assists and an average of 8.83.

Mon Aug 14, 2006 8:52 pm

Solid stretch of games there, so do you reckon this one works better than your strasbourg one?

Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:35 pm

Conceding 5 in 6 games aint that bad. Youll soon have a long stretch of games where you wont concede a thing so I wouldnt worry much.

About the Chelsea thing, I bet you wished they reared heir ugly heads before you went to that job. I cant imagine the amount of transfer funds you would have at your disposal.

Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:53 pm

Solid stretch of games there, so do you reckon this one works better than your strasbourg one?

I'm really not sure to be honest... there's a hell of a lot more shots from my guys with this one, but the defense is quite weak.

About the Chelsea thing, I bet you wished they reared heir ugly heads before you went to that job. I cant imagine the amount of transfer funds you would have at your disposal.

Probably less than you'd think, they spend 60+ million every season on players. Half of them end up in the reserves, for instance they paid nearly 20 million for Kisliy and he's in their reserve team listed as a back-up. It's a bit weird.

Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:55 pm

Then you can bring the winds of change. Go to Chelsea and enstablish your preferred lineup and stick to them for a couple years while winning piles of trophies. Add to your legend.

Maybe in the future they will want you again si theres no rush anyways.

Tue Aug 15, 2006 5:51 am

I decided to pick back up my Barca game recently to see if I could become interested in it again. I didnt. I resigned and after a few months and rejecting Man Utd a million times I decided to go join Lyon. It should be a challenge as they are sixth in the league and I got a decent transfer budget of roughly 35 million. I'll tell yall how it goes.

Tue Aug 15, 2006 5:58 pm

Well Im now inducted into the Managers Hall of Fame for the Premiership.

After a great season where we went undefeated in the league and extended our unbeaten streak to 84 games (might be more, ill check later) it was only fitting that we completed the treble.

Im not currently at home and will post more info sometime soon. But it was a close race for the Premiership Title with Chealsea. But with them having lost a game early on in the season I always had the upper hand, in the end winning by 3 points.

I ended up facing Tottenham in the FA Cup Final, it was possibly held at the worst time for me as most of my strike force and a couple of key AMC's were all out with injury, but we managed to pull through with the help of some of my reserve strikers.

The Champions Cup final was against Real Madrid who are tipped as the top team in Europe. It was an up and down game, although I was pretty much at full strength, a few of my big names had only just returned from injury so they weren't 100%.

Coming into the final minutes we were still tied at 0-0, then fittingly it was stalwart Freddy L who came to the rescue, scoring on a header off a nice cross from Reyes. It was great to see Freddy get one of the biggest goals of the season as hes always been consistant and a regular in the premiership teams of the week/month.

Anyway, im still waiting to see what my transfer budget is for the coming season before I make some signings. Im looking at trying Dada's stratergy and will need to strengthen some areas before my team will fit into it properly.

Ill post some more info sometime soon.

Tue Aug 15, 2006 7:24 pm

Wow, 84 unbeaten games? That's crazy. I haven't done that since like CM 00/01 with Inter. Any transfer targets in mind?

Tue Aug 15, 2006 9:35 pm

Yeah im pretty supprised, we seem to be fighters though and come back when we are down, last season had a lot of draws, but this season we only drew 11 league games and won 27.

I was given $31m in transfer funds (Euro) but was given the option to reduce my wage budget to increase the transfer budget, or vice verse. I decided to reduce my wage budget from 1.9m to 1.7m which made my transfer budget 38.31m.

I thought the trade off was worth it since I usually keep a small squad as it makes it easier to get everybody time on the field.

In the season just been I spent most of the season with $1m spare in wages.

Now for my targets.....

I havent really started looking yet, more just deciding what im going to need if I want to try Dada's strategy. I think im going to need another DM since I have Tymoshcuk and Fabregas, but will need at least one more, and I dont think Fabregas is reliable enough yet to be holding down the postion fulltime.

Also I will need to get a really good Wing Back on the Right Hand side, Eboue and Laren are both alright, but Laren is getting old and Eboue doesnt have the Dribbling and passing skills needed.

On the Left I still have Cole, but im not sure if even his dribbling and passing are good enough.

SO if anyone has any ideas, shoot :D

Keep in mind I have $38m to spend so I can go for some pretty high quality players.

EDIT: For Wing Backs ive found a couple that look good.
WBR - Bernard Mendy, Paris, $6m Valued, 25yrs
WBL - Fabio Santos, Sao Paolo leaving for Palamero, $3.5m Valued, 21yrs
WBL - Maxwell, FC Bayern, $7.25m Valued, 25yrs

All these players have 16+ in Passing, Dribbling, Pace and Acceleration, plus they all have decent tackle and crossing (Mendy only has 14 for Crossing)
