this is a series that knew it was a sub par gta knock off so it tried to go way the hell over the top and that resulted in a POS game. now my kids seem to like them so i have tried them but each time i feel dirty. kinda like jerking off to the sears catalog

lmao at these lies
Saints Row II is better than any GTA game to date. Period.
Hell, The Third probably is.
Sat May 11, 2013 9:42 am
You saying a crappy game is not crappy doesn't make it not crappy.
Sat May 11, 2013 9:52 am
But that doesn't apply to any discussion in this thread, Saints Row isn't a crappy franchise it's an excellent one.
Objective and factual current rankings:
1. Saints Row 2
2. Saints Row: The Third
3. Bully
4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
5. Just Cause 2
6. The Saboteur
7. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
8. Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
8A. The Simpsons: Hit and Run
9. Grand Theft Auto III
10. Mercenaries II: World in Flames
11. Scarface: The World is Yours
12. True Crime: Streets of LA
13. Grand Theft Auto
14. Grand Theft Auto IV
15. Grand Theft Auto II

This I agree with. Saints Row is a great franchise, SR3 was a fantastic game, in some ways better than GTA IV, but its kinda like comparing Jam to 2K. SR4 is too "Jam" for my liking.
Sat May 11, 2013 10:15 am
Jam TE > any 2K game > Jam Reboot Wii
Sat May 11, 2013 10:19 am
Saints row =/= Jam remake. but you get what I mean.

Played Crackdown? I haven't but heard lots of good things about the superpowers in that.
Just Cause 2 really benefits from the near superpowers in that.
With Rockstar looking like they're catching up to the standards set by Volition and Red Faction dead I trust in Volition to pull off the gameplay and justify it.
There's been rumors that they'll reboot for next gen with Saints Row V rather than continue the "plot" and IV (and ETD) basically became them pushing everything they wanted to get out of their system this gen.
Sat May 11, 2013 10:37 am
never played crackdown, same issue as SR4, too much unrealistic stuff for me.
Just Cause 2 is grounded in some kind of reality though, you fly because of the grappling hook and chute. Not because fuck it I've got super powers.
Playing through GTA IV again, I think I just like having to deal and "live" in the same world as the AI. Same rules, of physics and all that BS. I mean, in SR3 vanilla, sure each ped isn't going to come up and nutshot me, but they could. I severely doubt each would fly around and ground stomp. Dubstep gun, just too silly for my liking. Blow up thingy, meh. Monster Truck, dammit I want.

Wat's the ranking based on?
I had fun with Crackdown for couple days long time ago. It was an ok title. I was already spoiled by GTA and spiderman then. So it didn't really impress me the way GTA/Fallout did throughout the series(Both GTA/Fallout 1 & 2 were awesome, then 3 shocked). Since then, we've had so many games with open world concept. A lot of them are good like RDR, SR, prototype, infamous, and sleeping dogs. I am still waiting for a title that distant themselves from the list though. It does sound like GTA is trying in that regard. As for SR, I'm not entirely sold yet.

That trailer. I laughed. I cried. It will change my life.
Trailer also explains the too much over the topness I see.
