Haven't played the game but read on the internets the game's story. It's not that weird. I even find it funny.

Sweet Tooth's (removed) ending from the original Twisted Metal

I'm pretty surprised they went live action with this one despite running low on time and having wasted six figures on endings deemed too bad for the final game. The movies in the new one are obviously higher quality, and I loved the references to past TM's, but they are completely unnecessary. TMB's story had a lot more content and the mood of the game fit the stories better, while TM2's comic book style endings for all 14 cars offered more replay value and couldn't have cost much to make.

Well, in terms of weird story the game only focuses on a few characters, I remember the past Twisted Metal games had a lot more characters then that. I found most of the plot to be to easy to predict, all of them had good goals in mind, but they all got trolled by reality after they got what they wanted.
