I never understood the concept of giving a corporation lots of money for little chemical sticks that make you stink, hinders running, and turn your teeth nasty. I see absolutely no benefit.
If it was an isolated incident or just a trend I saw in a few friends, i wouldn't have posted that. It was literally 3/4 of the bar population outside smoking when they outlawed smoking inside. People who didnt drink smoked. People who were extremely healthy in every other aspect, smoked. I never thought that many people smoked. Nowadays I pretty much assume people smoke unless I'm told otherwise its so common in my age-group. I dont know why. It just seems to be big currently in the places ive been despite the extra "awareness" referenced by others. It never stopped anybody. Dont see why its changed now. Maybe its dependent on region. But yeah, i was against cigs until I was 21. Then I had 3-4 that first night (that i didnt pay for). I bought one pack on a whim (st patricks day)...and bummed the other time. So ive spent a whole 4.50 on the "habit" Spent more on candy bars in a week before.
Once again, I agree with you guys about long term effects and i do agree that 20 a day is too many or whatever. Shits expensive, and will fucking kill you. But people will always find ways to kill themself and justify it. *shrug* Dunno. Just not as anti as I used to be. To each their own and as long as when im around you're not blowing it in my face, i dont give a shit anymore. You wanna hack up a lung at 35, thats your business. But saying you will never will have one at 17 or under is insanity. You have your whole life ahead of you and your world view WILL change. Its not a question of different experiences, its a question of a little thing called maturing. People act like we're all individualistic and have our own special experiences but you boil it all down, 99% of human experience is universal. Shit happens and it happens to everyone

cyanide, I blame my phone. It uses word suggestion when you press the space bar and I don't always catch it.

Not a problem in Oz's case.
I see absolutely no benefit.
Feels good, man?

Damn, and you don't even live in Europe!

That's a sad mentality. Whatever happened to finding ways to live life?
Pdub, you're forgiven, my man!

I'm not sure why people are not taking me seriously or accusing me of being some kind of alter ego just because I am offering common sense solutions to real world problems.
There was a time in this country when we did not smear and insult people, instead we recognized the problems we faced as a country and came together to face them as a united citizenry. You all want to bicker and promote hedonistic lifestyles instead of sitting down at the grown up table and finding a way for this country to finally eliminate the crime of smoking.
There is not one single justification for continuing to allow people, mostly poor and uneducated, to harm themselves. No serious person makes an argument to defend these type of ideas because it's impossible to imagine any argument for these products. It's even harder to imagine people actually objecting to banning these chemicals that have not a single benefit. I know there are anarchists out there who want to turn America into Somalia just so they can rape and murder people they do not like, but it's easy to debunk their crackpot views by asking where we should draw the line? Should we, the people, not prevent heroin and crack addictions? No reasonable person believes this.
We don't allow drug abuse, we don't allow sexual predators and we don't allow murder, why should we allow cigarettes? If you sit in the big boy chair and read the science you'd know one cigarette could kill you instantly and you'd be on the side discussing actual real world solutions based on hard science to this obvious and straightforward issue.
It's time to stop arguing over pointless principles and bickering over settled science and together get things done again for our society.

I only smoke cigarettes when I drink. I don't even feel like touching it while I'm not. Weird. As soon as I start feeling tipsy I'd light one up right away. I rarely smoke weed, not that I've never tried it, I actually like it but I don't want to spend money on it since it's rather expensive so I try to stay away from it as much as I can.

none of my friends smoked when i was growing up, so i never really got into that. plus, my dad smoked a shit ton when my mom was pregnant and when i was a baby so i get slightly asthmatic when i run, so i never really got into cigs. i'm surprised hookah hasn't come up yet, i went through a hookah phase in college, smoked that occasionally my 1st 2 years there. tried a cigar once. had a few puffs, never wanted to do it again. i also tried mary jane freshman year and got started off on the purple (good) stuff. it was cool, but i don't really feel a need to do it so i choose not to do it anymore.

It should have long ago been noted due to the comments in the OP that unlike nicotine, marijuana isn't traditionally addictive. Unlike nicotine, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and so much else it doesn't have any kind of physical withdrawal factor.
Cocaine doesn't either if anyone cares. Oddly the transformation process of crack does apparently create one though. (Actually to be fair, heroin doesn't either until you get a certain point.)
Science is fun!
Full disclosure, I can't really smoke right. Deviated septum. This is why you should all band together to buy me a pocket vaporizer. Also, I somewhat hate the taste/smell of tobacco.
Cigars are pretty hot though, I wonder if you can be cooler than smoking a cigar. I'm assuming you already have the top hat and monocle.

It's all about the Second Hand smoke. Sometimes, people who have never smoked in their lives get Lung Cancer, while other who have smoked for 30+ years, don't. In my opinion, don't smoke near children.

Maybe you should look for a wife that doesn't smoke so that would be the least of your concerns.

Never smoked even now and never had one when I was 17 or under. Oh that's right, I have Jesus!

I'm convinced. All I need is some concrete proof to validate that belief. Like Jesus.

Never smoked before. I've been offered to smoke a few times by some friends, but I denied it. But really, judging by the fact that my life has been at a low this past year, may change. For now though, I'm just gonna endure it.
Sun Dec 12, 2010 7:56 am
Both the amount of cigerettes I smoked and the times I tried weed you can count with two hands. Never got into it, despite my mom and most of my friends being smokers.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 8:50 pm
I used to smoke a bit of pot, but now I only do it on rare social occassions. I've had some pretty fun experiences with it, but only because my mates were high as well. I could never do it by myself and I don't particularly rate people who do it every day and do absolutely nothing with their life because they do it too much.
As for cigarettes and cigars, I've only tried a cigarette once and never got why people did it outside the fact that they're addicted. Tried a cuban the other weekend and it just left me with a hoarse voice.
One thing I also can't stand is when people spin tobacco into the weed; that shit's just nasty.

You mean a spliff? Don't go to Europe then! I actually enjoy them. I think it's a great way to get a buzz from both the tobacco and weed. It also keeps you from burning up too much weed!
Pdub wrote:Used ta puff duh ganja, mane. Replaced it with cigarettes when I quit. Started to smoke almost half a pack a day, and started getting cravings right after having one. Then someone suggested to smoke cloves if I am going to smoke. Love them. There isn't much craving in cloves, if any. When I am at home I take a quick smoke on the porch but rarely finish more than half of it. Stupid FDA/Obama had to ban them in cigarette form, but they came back as "filtered cigars." Same shit with a tobacco paper. Not horrible, but not the same. So yeah, like 7-8 half-cloves per day.
Wow, that's so funny because I just went out and bought a pack of cloves. I preferred the cigarette cloves as well. If you were really bored or high you could always empty out the contents and roll it again with rolling paper, though that's an awful lot of work.
Wed Dec 15, 2010 10:34 am
That's true. I have done that before but by using the paper from original unfiltered djarums. Tastes just like the djarum lights in cigarette form.

Exactly, you still get the buzz and you don't have to use a shitload of weed. Using only pot is quite a waste, wouldn't even cross my mind.
Wed Dec 15, 2010 2:56 pm
do you guys smoke concentrates? my roommates got on that and apparently it saves them a little bit of money because they don't have to smoke as much.
Thu Dec 16, 2010 9:42 am
You need to avoid smoking anyway.

It's fucking bad for you.
Thu Dec 16, 2010 12:33 pm
Why thank you for that enlightening information BatmanJesus.
Thu Dec 16, 2010 8:54 pm
Everything is bad for you.
Thu Dec 16, 2010 9:07 pm
Actually, smoking is fine.
The stance of the federal government is that if you've ever had any secondhand smoke at all, or
If you've already had just one cigarette, the damage is done and you will die because of it. So might as well smoke as much as you want since we've all already been exposed.
Of course, they also say that quitting now can save your life, even though the damage is done forever, so I don't know what to believe.
Besides, who cares about smoking when
kids are out there getting high and
overdosing on nutmeg!

In my personal experience I feel that parents have a huge impact on a person's ideology on smoking and drinking.
None of my parents ever smoked. I think that has a lot to do with my not caring one bit to even try a cigarette. I have smoked weed a couple times, loved it, but I am not excited for my next opportunity or anything.
I never saw my parents make themselves turn to any type of drug to feel better when they were going through tough times. They drank alcohol once in a while but it was rare and the drink was always diluted. They usually drank a little only when we had company.
I think that has carried over to me. I have never drank alcohol and don't feel such an urge to try it right now. I definitely will drink alcohol over the course of my life but never to the point of relying on it for escape.
Part of it is also that I think kinda "scientifically" about the chemicals entering my body. I feel that my body is programmed to function a certain way. As long as I keep fueling it with the chemicals it knows how to deal with through food and drinks it will continue to function smoothly. But when I start introducing chemicals it is not used to function with on a regular basis, it will start to degrade over time. All drugs rely on altering the normal functioning of the body for a small while in order to give you the buzz. I don't like the thought of an outside chemical messing with the chemical balance in my body or my brain.
I havent had any major life struggles to deal with yet. So I dont know how the urges will affect me later in life. But as of right now I think smoking cigarettes is fucking moronic (Will never even try it for fucking sure). Alcohol is OK for occasional light use. And if weed really is much safer than alcohol, then sure but still on an occasional basis. It may be a herb and all but it is still a chemical which relies on screwing with the chemical balance in your brain to make you feel good.
