Luv hip hop. Old skool and new skool. Down South, Midwest, West Coast, East Coast. But its kinda not cool how the old skool is kinda baggin on the new skool and our style right now. Just let us do us.Look at it like this... I mean they didnt like it when their parents were on to them about wat they were listening to so... why do the same to us?

A bit late, but R.I.P. Guru. Really loved the Gangstarr sound as well as his many features.

Okay, so I'm not a huge hip-hop fan, but this has to be the AOTY for me. Rap, but heart-touching:

Wow, at least one guy who likes it ^^ I suck at making beats but it's fun when you have ideas and try to get something out of them.

I like it too actually. Reminds me a bit of DJ Shadow (sans samples).

Is Lamrock the next great white rapper?

Check your faucet atlwarya9, it might have some leaks.

ehhhh it was okay. a lot of the songs sounded pretty similar. his last album is easily better than this one.

Btw I hate Waka Flocka for calling his upcoming album "Flockaveli".

Never understood why Cudi was so ridiculously popular. Haven't listened to the new one, but outside of a couple songs, his debut album was pretty boring. He was okay at Sasquatch but nothing special.
Sat Nov 27, 2010 9:37 am
yeah unlike the 1st one, the new one doesn't have songs that you will like right away. marijuana is 4:20 long though
Sat Nov 27, 2010 10:39 am
Cudi's different. The more you listen to him the more you will appreciate him. It took me a little to get into him his first album and now I like every song. Still working on that with every song on his second album. So far so good

. And my bad buzzy for my misreading.
Sat Nov 27, 2010 1:59 pm
Just gave the second one a listen. Like the first, there are only three songs I like (REVOFEX, Erase Me and Mr. Rager). I think this one is better than the first one though, albeit still a bit dull.

You are right, it is a classic.
Kid Cudi is awesome, his first album was great, even on first listen, while the new one is harder to get into, but it is really really good. It has a claustrophobic feel, I just love the feeling the album gives. Best songs are the first one, Marijuana, Mr. Rager and MANIAC!

Judging by your avatar, I think we might have quite similar taste, so I'm wonderin what hip hop albums you consider to be hip hop classics (Like, really classics, something like a ten album list)
Mine would look like this (In no particular order):
Things Fall Appart - The Roots
Black Star - Black Star
Be - Common
The Blueprint - Jay-Z
Illmatic - Nas
Train of Thought - Late Registration
Liquid Swords - GZA
Late Registration - Kanye West
With extremely honorable mentions to :
Black Sunday - Cypress Hill
Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem
Reasonable Doubt - Jay-Z
The Infamous - Mobb Deep
Ridin' Dirty - UGK
And fuck it, I'm also putting the albums that I could consider classics once they pass the test of time :
Below the Heavens - Blu & Exile
The Ecstatic - Mos Def
Death Is Silent - Kno
Out of you list I'd agree on these:
Be - Common
The Blueprint - Jay-Z
Late Registration - Kanye West (although I still root for College Dropout)
Reasonable Doubt - Jay-Z
I'd add some LPs that are classics for me at least:
College Dropout - Kanye West
Ghetto Pop Life - Dangermouse & Gemini
Black Album - Jay-Z
Powers In Numbers - Jurassic 5
Food & Liquor - Lupe Fiasco
Stankonia - Outkast
Mindstate - Pete Philly & Perquisite
Slum Village - Slum Village
Say G &E - Grouch & Eligh
Recent top albums:
New Roots album
Big Boi
Latest Rakim LP
I've missed a couple I guess.
