Why nobody doesn't like Pamela Anderson? I mean in her prime. :) She's beautiful.

If I was making a list of all-time hottest actresses or celebrity crushes from my childhood/adolescence, she'd be on it. But I for one was also thinking in terms of talent and actresses I enjoy watching in different projects. Apart from running on a beach in a swimsuit or getting outraged about people eating meat (ironic as I'm sure she's eaten her fair share, giggity), she doesn't have a great deal of talent.

Oh I forgot about Matt Leblanc. I like him just because he played Joey  I haven't seen him in another TV Show/Movie so I can't really say if he's good or not.

His movie career has been kind of ordinary. Lost in Space was good for what it was, the first twenty minutes or so was way too corny but the rest was passable, if unspectacular. He also had a recurring role on Married...with Children a couple of years before Friends began.

But after 10 years playing the same character it must had been difficult for him to get good roles. I mean, people would say: "Oh, that's Joey" It's hard for the audience to see him as someone else after being in Friends for so long. I think that's one of the reasons why his movie career hasn't been too good.

That hasn't happened to any of his co-stars. He's a unidimensional actor, that's why he hasn't played a new character in over ten years. Or maybe he's just retired, who knows, with all the money he made with Friends I think he's living more than largely.

It's kinda happened to Chandler, he hasn't exactly set the cinema World on fire. Same as David Schwimmer. Both done better than LeBlanc though.

Lisa Kudrow. Also done nothing.

Yeah the only one with a succesful movie career seems to be Aniston.

Matthew Perry: - The Whole Nine Yards
- The Whole Ten Yards
- Serving Sara
- Some decent-grossing independent films such as Numb and Birds of America
- Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (which I still can't over getting canceled)

Not to mention he just recently starred in 17 Again, which okay, is kind of awful, but it was a huge commercial success and grossed over a hundred million.

David Schwimmer: - Apt Pupil
- Uprising
- Big Nothing (greatest dark comedy ever)
- Independent films such as Duane Hopwood and Nothing But The Truth (which was actually really good.)
- Madagascar and sequel
- Director of Run, Fat Boy, Run and Little Britain USA

Lisa Kudrow: - Analyze This and sequel
- Mad About You
- Hanging Up
- Lucky Numbers
- Happy Endings
- Kabluey
- P.S. I Love You

Also starring in Bandslam, which opens next month.

Courteney Cox: - Scream and two sequels, which were incredibly successful, commercially speaking.
- November
- The Longest Yard
- The Tripper
- Dirt
- Bedtime Stories

Recently on Scrubs and starring in Cougar Town, starting in September.

Matt LeBlanc had a minor role in the Charlie's Angels movie and Lost in Space, then of course the Joey series. That's it. Look at what the guy has turned into, his career is over.

Most of those movies were garbage though, I wouldn't really consider them as a fantastic "after-Friends" career for either of them.

Re: Your top 5 (or 10!) Actors or Actresses

The point is, they DO have a post-Friends career (and most of those movies grossed really well,) LeBlanc does not... Not that I don't like the guy or anything, I loved him on Friends, I'm just kind of disappointed to not have seen him in anything else other than that.

You spelled American Psycho wrong.

And to be fair, Perry and Schwimmer basically play their Friends character with minor changes in most things.

LeBlanc's got it right, why work when you're getting gobs of syndication and DVD royalties.

American Pyscho is a comedy? Since when?

Watch Big Nothing (Schwimmer,) Numb and Birds of America (Perry.)

I have watched Big Nothing many times and love it to death as I've mentioned a few times on here. (And Schwimmer was awesome in Band of Brothers.) But they're still edits on Ross. (Although I'm not a Friends fan.)

And I said "most things" (Whole Nine Yards is a great example in my opinion) not "always."

Yes, American Psycho has always been a comedy.

Re: Your top 5 (or 10!) Actors or Actresses

Sat Aug 01, 2009 8:42 am

Since when does satire equal comedy? American Psycho has always been a psychological drama. I mean excuse me if I don't find depersonalization/derealization, psychopathy or mental instability in general very comedic, but that's the way I see it.

Re: Your top 5 (or 10!) Actors or Actresses

Yes, that's you because of your own issues. Most people would probably consider it a black comedy centered around the meaninglessness and interchangeableness of yuppie culture and the pressure to "just. fit. in.", including the director on the commentary, and have a laughingly good time all the way through despite what is happening. Like say, Dr. Strangelove. That's the core of black/dark comedy.

The book is another matter.

I don't draw a line between satire and comedy. Satire is a branch of comedy in my book.

How many A-list actors aren't somewhat one dimensional though? Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Sean Connery when he was active...they pretty much had the same mannerisms and delivery no matter what (and Connery's accent never changed no matter what nationality his character happened to be). That doesn't mean they aren't very talented because they are. They tend to take similar roles, play them very much the same and just tweak them as necessary. And they do it very well, people pay to see them and they are successful.

I think Matt LeBlanc has just been branded too heavily with the character of Joey Tribbiani especially having done the spinoff and not doing as many well-received movies during the run of Friends. The others have had enough moderate success that they can break free of their characters a bit more (even if they go on to play similar characters) and David Schwimmer also directs and does stage work. Perhaps a new TV project will jumpstart his career. Hey, most people seemed to forget about Mickey Rourke and he was up for an Oscar this past year for his work in The Wrestler, so I wouldn't say LeBlanc's career is dead just yet.

Re: Your top 5 (or 10!) Actors or Actresses

Mon Aug 03, 2009 12:10 am

But Mickey Rourke was already considered an "it" actor by Hollywood before he disappeared into nothingness and reappeared again in The Wrestler. I doubt people had the same sentiments regarding LeBlanc when he was still doing his part as Joey.

Perhaps, but it takes a good actor to play a bad actor, not to mention someone as stupid as Joey but still make the character endearing and likeable. My point is that a lot of the top actors are kind of one dimensional in their own right and if Rourke can make a comeback after all these years then I wouldn't count LeBlanc out just yet.

McGinley's definitely in my top five. Braff's right up there too, just on the edge at the moment.
