Amazing - the song is trash.

After listening to the record a lot... I am not feeling Love Lockdown. I like Coldest Winter. I like half the songs.

You guys were right, after I got past the fact that Kanye uses a vocorder, I don't think the album is that bad. I guess I was very disappointed he went on a whole tangent because you know how Late Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation were sort of a series.

But there is a reason why I bought 808s and that's because I'm a huge Kanye fan.

And Lamrock, I disagree. College Dropout was the best!

Late Registration was good but nowhere near as good as College Dropout. I don't listen to Graduation anymore.

I listened to the album. Love Lockdown isn't anything special, but its the only song on his new album that isn't crap in my opinion

I am glad that he left the school albums as a trilogy and decided to start on something new. He'll be releasing a rap album next year, so I think he will have a rap canon and a pop canon, sorta like Beck did with his alternating folk and Beck! albums.
I listen to his 4 albums about equally. I'm a tad surprised Graduation is out of your play cycle. Its probably my least favorite album of his, but I still like half the songs. "Flashing Lights" is probably my favorite Kanye single.

The thing was I was excited about the fourth album because he had been building it up. He only got derailed due to his personal life which is a bit sad. But not to worry because he will still make songs anyways.

As for Graduation, Flashing Lights is one of my favorites also. I had an old version of homecoming and I liked that better cause it had John Legend instead of Chris Martin on it. Just sounded more soulful but the one with Martin in it wasn't bad. I just love Kanye's lyrics...
I love College Dropout because every song was great! Two Words and Thru the Wire are my favourites on that record.

Ahhh the original 'Home' with John Legend sounds sooo much more soulful. I wonder was my jam out of graduation, and Family Business out of College Dropout.

I've considered changing the thread title, since I've grown to quite like the album, but I think this thread has more personality like this.
I didn't know Chris Martin was on Homecoming. No wonder it was my least favorite single off Graduation.

Family Business was good. The whole of College Dropout was just awesome. The hip hop and the soul. Brilliant.

And I always have loved We Don't Care.

Kanye even rapped it in Big Brother: about him and Jay each doing 'a song with coldplay...'
Maybe change the title thread to 'Kanye West' or you still feel this is about 808s?

Flashing Lights is so dope. I love this track. Listened to it up and down. And it was acutally funny because this track is in GTA IV and its really nice to run through a building hunting gangster listening to a fav song.
On College Dropout "Through The Wire" was the track that actually raised my eye brow. But now I have to say that "Two Words" and "All Falls Down" seem to be the most appealin tracks after 3 or 4 years now (dunno exactly, too lazy to look at release).
Street Lights and Love Lockdown are imho very special. Kanye just knows how to impress feelings and atmosphere with music. The drums, the piano, the bass, just harmonating.

Through the Wire is just awesome.

I just felt that most of the songs on College Dropout all had meaning, whether serious or taking the shit out of an issue. One track I forgot to mention that I do love was Get Em High.

Who's feel Tweli Kalib as well?
Fri Dec 26, 2008 12:09 am
Kweli is awesome. I always liked his style although on most LPs I only feel 3-4 tracks and rarely more. Get By remix with Kanye, Jay-Zeeee, Mos Def and Kweliiii.
Fri Dec 26, 2008 9:16 pm
Get By is awesome song.

I don't stop listening to that man.
I love Common. I love Jay Z. Who else here loves Jay Z?
Mon Dec 29, 2008 3:05 am
Jay-Z's one of the greatest rappers alive. His new track 'Brooklyn Go Hard' is fucking raw. The only thing I don't like is that he keeps sampling MIA and 'Paper Planes'. And 'Get By' is an ill song, which is why I put it on the soundtrack patch I made a while ago. Anyway, going back to the Kanye discussion, I'm acutally starting to feel 808's and Heartbreak. I disliked it at first, but songs like 'Heartless' are starting to please my ears. 'Love Lockdown' wasn't so bad when I first heard it at the VMA's, but it's getting a bit annoying now. The only problem with the album is, the bear is no where to be found.
Mon Dec 29, 2008 10:09 pm
I'm strating to not like Heartless/Love Lovedown. Actually, that's the problem with this album... I've sort of stopped listening to it whereas with older Kanye records, I still listen to them and still love the tunes. It's just different. Not as bad as I first thought but nothing too special IMO. Go back to hip hop Kanye, we will all love you more for it.
Mon Dec 29, 2008 10:19 pm
hmm i got my first chance to listen thru the songs and i tihnk love lockdown is okay after hearing it on the radio for so long but on my comp i got a good listen to it and i dont like it as much anymore.
haertless is probably the only song on the album i REALLY like. Robocop is hilarious because of the robot noises and bad news is pretty decent as well.

Stephen Hawking > Kanye West.
Like drama said, people who can't sing shouldn't sing.
Thu Feb 19, 2009 7:20 pm
I just read that Kanye is apparantly done with music... and moving to fashion design...
Fri Feb 20, 2009 12:02 am
^ Very true
&& He has his own LV Sneaker Line
Sometimes ppl need to move on
&& 808's & Heartbreak was a great album
Youh just need to really listen carefully
More then your average where youh just hear the beat
And youh will understand the meaning of why he's singing
Don't knock down something automatically because its different
Auto-Tune is a hell of a program I use it myself sometimes
Let 'em do what he has to do
Lil' Wayne came with a Rock/Hip Hop Album,
You're goin' to discourage that too?
Genre's in music shouldn't b segregated
If Kanye wants to sing like a R&B artist then so be it
Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:23 am
Man has any one heard yet. Kanye said he is done with music ! And now he is gonna start modeling
Fri Feb 20, 2009 11:02 am
In a new interview with Details magazine, Kanye West reveals that he is done with music and is ready to pour all his "superhero" energy into conquering fashion.
The rapper highlighted his role in the industry.
He insisted that "I am the voice this generation"
He is quoted as saying: "If not me, then who?"
"Someone could be a better rapper, dance better. But culturally impacting? When you look back at these four and a half years, who’s the icon at the end of the day? Who broke down colour barriers? What other black guy would a white person use as a fashion reference?"

Kanye West is seriously mentally ill.
But that's the problem these days, you shove something down someones throat long enough and folks will start believing it. It's in to look like Urkel now.

I didn't want to post in this thread again because I already said everything that needed to be said. But obviously someone didn't pay attention.

Ignorant gibberish.
If you like the album, that's fine and I don't mind. But saying that somone who doesn't like it is dumb and doesn't get the meaning of the album and only listens to the beats anyway is way more off target than Shaq's free throws. That's some ignorant bullshit right there. Apart from that I don't see how understanding
why he sings makes
the way he sings any more appealing and less teribble sounding.
Don't knock down something automatically because its different
Goddamn, that's the type of bullshit I could rant about for days. That's what all the lames try to defend a failed experiment with. I think I already explained that one perfectly.
I already wrote:This is something that really pisses me off to the point where I just wanna choke a bitch. When an artist goes in a different direction with his music and his new stuff simply sucks because he failed miserably there are always gonna be some smartasses trying to tell you that your taste is too limited, you're narrow-minded or you missed out on the progress taking place. "hes trying something new!1111!!! OMG hes so creative" My ass. When Q-Tip did it it was dope. When Mos did it it was dope. When Andre did it it was at least pretty decent. Now Kanye tried to do it as well and failed. That auto-tune shit is horrible, straight up. And apart from that there is nothing special or innovative to his new music so stop acting like he's the embodiment of creativity.
I don't mind musicians experimenting as long as the results are decent.

We all should know by now that Wayne is garbage. Then again his rap albums are so terrible the rock album can't possibly be worse.

True. But no one said they should be. And I don't think that anyone on here thinks he can tell Kanye what to do anyways.

Lol it's not ignorant is based upon reasons why some people oppose the album
The way he sings isn't as bad -__- [admitting he's no Trey Songz of course]
But there's a different tone set in each song "Paranoid," "Love Lockdown," "Street Lights," "Robocop," "Pinocchio Story" etc.
So the ways he sings isn't bad unless you're referring to "Bad News" which does sound like his voice is worn out
Dramacydal wrote:And apart from that there is nothing special or innovative to his new music so stop acting like he's the embodiment of creativity.
And trying something new is not meaning he originated in it,
Trying something brand new out of his section,
Show's how versatile one person can be because it's like this...
You're going to say a brand new producers beat is bad because it sounds like a Pharrel knockoff?
because he didn't originate in it and needs to be more creative?
ITS INNOVATIVE TO
HIS TALENT/MUSIC
Auto-Tune is a hell of a program... LOL
Point blank and simple not everyone who doesn't know how to sing uses it
But it still leaves a nice a effect on your vocals
IMO 808's and Heartbreak is a great album
It's not like College Dropout or Late Registration
But it's different, and something new in Kanye's career

DRAKE!!! Little Brother, Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, Yeezy, Lupe, Jay-z, Wale, The Roots, Nas, Eminem, is what I could think of right now. I personally like Lil' Wayne but I guess everyone got there own taste.
