Like always i'm going for France.
Allez les Bleus !

:|...En anglais, S.V.P... ;)

Apart from Frank, name some selected French players aged under 26.

La equipe de France est tres vieille. (That's the best sentence I can come up with, sad isn't it?)

All right, according to the official squad list on UEFA, there are some players that are younger than 26. G Steve Mandanda (22), D Francois Clerc (25), M Samir Nasri (21), M Jeremy Toulalan (24), M Lassana Diarra (23), F Karim Benzema (20), and F Bafetimbi Gobis (22).

As far as I know, none of them are starting, so...point taken.

The equipment of France are very ____. :? [Grade 9 Introduction to French course completed (and is the only French course I took in my life]

The only few French players whom I see potential are Nasri and Benzema.

I believe Spain will be playing the Dutch after the group stage. That is a game that I must watch - if that happens. :D

The French team is very old (Equipe=team, vieille=old). I've "completed" up to grade 9. Grade 10 gave me major problems, with all those confusing past tense and stuff. Didn't bother to try again, took the easy route, went with Beginner's Spanish the year after that.

Which reminds me, never ask for help to fellow NLSCers when it comes to language subjects. They will screw you over. Damn Peachy. :x

BTW Jackal, do the Orange boys still play the Total Football system or anything similar or variant of it, or it's a thing of the past? If they do, I may have to watch them closely at the same time enjoying it.

CKal, does it matter that France have an old squad? Just makes them even more hungry to win because time is ticking! :P Did you see age stop them from reaching the World Cup Final? Don't count Les Bleus out! Even if Spain and Portugal and Italy look a lot more likely to win. ;)

Thu Jun 05, 2008 11:11 am

True age doesn't matter in the short term. However, "one team one love" - Umbro. I just wanna love one team (no jumping on bandwagons), at least for a few years, and certainly you won't go and support a very short-term team, when the "longer-lasting" team, Spain, is just one place behind them in world rankings.

I really don't care which teams are on the final, as long as it's freaking entertaining for a change!! I mean, c'mon, after the 06 World Cup dissapointment I think soccer fans need something to get them off their seats.

Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:30 am

A Spurs fan talking about bored fans and entertainment ? Aha.

Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:00 am

I don't think any of us can ever expect to see a man getting headbutted in extra time of a World Cup final, that exciting enough for you?

Well, Spurs fans are not "bored" and last time I checked, we are talking about soccer. Don't try to be funny. You are not good at it.

I was referring to the quality of soccer matches.

I was referring to the quality of soccer matches.

We'll get lots of great matches early, but as the tournament progresses, the quality starts to decline. Same as every tournament, a simple mistake can cost you the match.

I hope Croatia gets far in the tournament. I really wanna see them get to the 98 World Cup level. They played amazing that year. Of course it was a totally different team back then. Eduardo missing it is a real bitch too. The stupid tackle that was made still pisses me off.

I'm also rooting for Germany. I always liked them, but it seems like "real" Germans don't really play for the team. France should be entertaining too.

Thank god Slovenia didn't make it to the tournament.

Sat Jun 07, 2008 10:21 pm

No love for Sweden? :(
Then again, they've played really bad this year.. And before that.. And before that.. And..

I do like the chances of Spain though. They've got a really strong team with an amazing offense. Defense might not be at the same level, but I think they can go all the way..
Germany might go far as well. They're not as strong as they were in the WC, but still have plenty of talent. I expect great things by Schweinsteiger..

Sun Jun 08, 2008 1:03 am

Fuck Holand.. We made with them a win and a draw but they still finished second :shake: Hope they will lose it all (N) (N) (N)

Spain.. I am going with Spain.. They have my full respect - Real Madrid ofcourse   Raul Rules (Y)

Raul isn't playing..

Sun Jun 08, 2008 1:44 am

I want Portugal to win it because of Ronaldo.

Sun Jun 08, 2008 1:48 am

Go Austria!!

We're lucky to host it, so we're finally in the tournament once again.

Sweden is good! Just that I support Spain.

Now, the Swiss are playing against the Czechoslovakians. And the Swiss are owning them... for now... :?

Sun Jun 08, 2008 6:33 am

I hate Portugal.

Sun Jun 08, 2008 6:36 am

I hate that Sverkos guy - he didn't even intended to shoot the ball to his right - that was a mistake and the winning goal...:?

Portugal - I hate them except for C. Ronaldo and Nani, and maybe a few others, but I hate the team.

(But a well deserved win.)

I feel sorry for Switzerland. They controlled the majority of the game, even after loosing their top player. Hopefully they'll bounce back and play well for the remainder of the tournament.

Sun Jun 08, 2008 7:32 am

Yeah it well deserved.. I really liked the Portugal's game.. Esp Shimao'.. he played very well this match.. Nice to see portugal winning..

And about Switzerland I feel sorry too :( But for me there was a playing with hand in the penalty area in the final minutes... The reffee was near, but he didn't call anthing.. Bad decision for me.. :shake:

Btw Some info about S.Frei ? I sow that he was with crutches on the bench  Will he play in the seccond game

Sun Jun 08, 2008 7:55 am

Fell asleep right after the first goal by Portugal, and woke up just as the 2nd goal was scored in stoppage time. nice.
