I don't care about age or any credentials if the argument is good. I usually don't pay attention to the poster and mostly the argument.
The fact that you're actually presenting an argument puts you in the upper tier. Then add in the fact that you actually consider the argument I counter with, even if you do not accept its conclusions, puts you even higher.
If anything we better each other. Even if I fail at social interaction.

I think that's another sign of getting older actually, when you can bring down younger people with tales of growing old. It's really not all that terrible, but it can be sobering at times.
Lamrock93 wrote:this thread is telling me to make these next couple years last.
I'd certainly encourage that. It's not a matter of everything going downhill when you leave high school, those first few years out of high school certainly offer the opportunity for new experiences and it's important that you move on but it's good to be able to look back on those years with good memories. I was fortunate enough to be part of a pretty tight clique back in high school and even though we can't catch up as often now that we're in our early 20s and in the "real world", whenever we do catch up it does feel like old times.

- Not being in school and actually out in the real world
- Having more acquaintances and very few close friends
- Finding the bar/club scene to be incredibly boring
- Not having a lot of time to join community league basketball
- When you hear about old high school friends living abroad
- When life's goals include having the following: a car, house and family

That's another good one. Friday nights for me have become less about the countdown to a night out and more about time off from work.
exactly! i look forward to friday night just so i can sit home and veg out while playing some vid games lol

i see people keep mentioning how they are bored of games faster now, and i think thats a great one. i remember growing up that any atari game you slapped in front of me was fun as hell and i could spend all day on it if you let me. then the nintendo came out and it was like a gift crafted by god himself and again any game you handed me i was all over. now most games i play i toss aside quickly and in alot of cases i wont even think of buying a game without playing it first

Sauru has 2 cars?! Rich bastard.
cyanide wrote:Finding the bar/club scene to be incredibly boring
Ditto. I just don't get it anymore and think "what's up with this?"
cyanide wrote:When you hear about old high school friends living abroad
Yea, it really makes me feel left out/delayed, hence old, that among our group of H.S. friends I'm the only one who haven't been out of the country, even for a vacation. Most are now living/working abroad.
cyanide wrote:When life's goals include having the following: a car, house and family
I've been also bugged about those, why I don't have those or actively purse those at this point in my life but the non-materialistic (or slacker if you prefer) in me still rebels against society's "success plan".
It's also the same with me on the weekends. I would much rather stay at home. No longer are the days when I'm ready to go if something comes up suddenly to go out.
Same with sleep. In the past, four hours usually is enough to get some sleep and take a final exam, even a hour nap is okay. Now it has to be at least six hours of sleep to even get a semblance of rest.
Damn Sauru is affecting me with his aging curse.

AHA! so its working. if i hang around here long enough i will start to hear nothing but stories of the "good old days".
i want to point out that most people probably own 1 car worth more than my 2 combined
Thu Mar 20, 2008 6:04 am
You should post pics of your car in the car thread. It's around here in General Talk somewhere, way back some pages.
Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:13 am
I have 2 cars and a house too, but since I'm still paying for each of them, I guess I don't own shit, and that makes me feel young and irresponsible again all of a sudden.
Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:19 am
You have debt, it means you are now a good part of society because you contribute to the economy.
Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:24 am
Yeah, it took me a little while to get used to this, in most countries "having credit", even if it's good, is not necessarily a good thing since you're usually screwed for many years to come. But well, at least you got your new HDTV and Lexus to make it easier for yourself...

There's nothing that makes you not old than having a car that has the "I can't afford a better one" look. It will make you look poor but not old.
I also don't seem to be interested that much in videogames anymore. I bought some old PC games a while back that I haven't played yet with the hopes of finally finishing it. I can't even make myself to install one. Damn, I'm really getting old.

Actually, that was just to refer to the many people who live above their means...I actually drive a 2004 Nissan Sentra and a 2002 Toyota Corolla, so well...

What is it with people and two cars, is one car not enough?

Hmmm, one's for my wife, the other's for me.
