Watched it last night. At first I was like what the fuck? but then I slowly started getting into and it ended up being a fairly good movie.

I throughly enjoyed it {spoilers}but seriously wtf Berlin, VT? Fuck that place (i went to college right next to Berlin, VT and I didn't like the people who were from there...stuck up hippies)

Right on. To me Smith is just another face in the hollywood book, who never have to find the limits of their acting capabilities. They always get the hero role and never have to try to do something else.
I might catch this movie on canal+ when it comes maybe after a year. Not spending money on it.

You pay for Canal+.

My roommate does, I don't

Still is money spent. You didn't say "I won't spend money on it." You said "not spending money on it".
Regardless, money (yours, his) has been spent.

Watched it in the theatres on opening night. It had potential since Will Smith was awesome in terms of acting, but the ending was stupid. His character did something that was just stupid, stupid, stupid. It had potential to be a really good movie, but they blew it.
Sun Dec 30, 2007 4:39 pm
Yeah, the ending was just wrong, but overall it was pretty enjoyable.
I didn't get one thing, though: *SPOILERS* When Sam gets infected, shouldn't she turn into one of those creatures instead of just die? *END OF SPOILER*
Sun Dec 30, 2007 9:26 pm
He was turning in to one of the creatures, didn't you see the dog snapped at Will Smith? That's why Smith chose to choke him to death.

Good movie, imo. Wish it were a bit longer. If I were in Robert's shoes when Anna came around, I would have tried to nail her.
[spoiler]
One thing he could have done, is pulled the pin on the grenade and then gone into the safe.
Hey, there is an online FPS/RPG game tie-in with the movie.

That was discussed on IMDB aswell, but the head monster guy was pretty smart, he would've probably just thrown the grenade all the way to the back or something, surviving the blast and seen they were in the safe.
So to make sure the antidote was safe, he made sure he took out the motherfuckers himself.
Atleast that's what I read as a possible explanation.

The question PDub raised was exactly the first thing I said when the movie ended. That's an ok explanation, but what he could've done was throw the grenade just before he went into the safe, closing the safe roughly at the same time he threw it. The monster boss would just be bouncing the grenade off the safe (if he catches it in the first place) watching it explode in his face along with everybody else in the room. At that same time, he was still trying to break through the glass, so Will Smith's character still had a lot of time to figure things out.

But honestly, what reason did he have to live beyond that point? All that God mumbo jumbo and the butterfly appearing made him realise that his time on Earth was done for. He made the cure on his ground zero and that was the purpose of his survival. He had no reason to continue living, I mean he didn't even fong Anna. This way he got to go to his wife & daughter.

I took it as the safe was too small for three people. That, along with the fact that you had to close it from the outside (?). Plus all the things Jackal said..
I thought it was a very good movie. Yet I was disappointed with it none the less. Probably because people told me how very awesome it was before I saw it.
And as Pdub said, it could certainly have been longer. Hopefully an extended version is released on DVD..

All of you fuckers should stop posting in very tiny fonts. People know this is a movie thread so they should expect to see spoilers. If they don't want to see spoilers then they shouldn't view the thread. Fuck them bitches.
Andreas Dahl wrote:That, along with the fact that you had to close it from the outside (?).
That means it also has to be opened from the outside. There's no way the ones inside could get out if it was opened/closed from the outside.

He didn't lock it, just pushed it shut.
Mon Dec 31, 2007 9:13 pm
If it can only be closed (not locked, there happy?) from the outside, it also means that you can only open it from the outside.
If you can open it from the inside, it also means that you can close it from the inside.
Know your doors Dahl. Sheesh.
Tue Jan 01, 2008 12:59 am
I'm pretty sure, that it can be closed and opened from both sides.
I'm with Dahl there, it was simply too small for all three, no way Robert could get in it also.
Tue Jan 01, 2008 4:01 am
I'm not arguing with Dahl about overloading. I'm arguing with Dahl about the mechanics of door functionality.
Wed Jan 02, 2008 7:56 am
But we're not talking about doors, we're talking about safes. And I doubt that the standard is to have them 'openable' from the inside. Then again, I have a very limited experience with safes, and how to get out of them..

Andreas Dahl wrote:And I doubt that the standard is to have them 'openable' from the inside.
Then how the heck did they get out of the safe if they are inside if it can only be closed from the outside?
Since the standard safe can only be opened from the outside and can't be opened from the inside?
(Yes, I agree with you on safe building standards)
A door is a door.
Safe
door
Closet
door
Car
door
Shelf
door
Wed Jan 02, 2008 9:01 am
Earlier I said that he didn't lock it, just pushed it shut. So they could just push it back out.. Maybe?
Wed Jan 02, 2008 9:28 am
I finally get your point.
It's like closing a door with no knobs, plus the fact that a safe door is fucking heavy so it must have to be only closed from the outside.
Guess I was infected by Will Smith's stupidity.
He created a cure for the virus.
He survived for years only with his dog in a city full of those things.
Yet he can't think of a way to close a safe with him being inside.
Retard.
I guess the stupid ending really got up my nerves.

This thread should be named "The Small font Spoiler Thread".
Anyhow, I watched this movie yesterday. Will Smith is an amazing actor indeed. The storyline was good and as you guys said earlier, the ending could've been done better. The movie was quite shocking for me. It really struck me hard and I had this weird feeling afterwards. And also whey did the dog have to die, he was cool .
Any of you guys imagine Arnold to have the lead roll in this picture? He was cast back in the late 90's, but the movie was to expensive to make. So it never went through .

He was a she... Sam as in Samantha, not Samuel.
