And they expected the entire Univeristy to be shut down after a relatively (well in comparison to the second shooting) small shooting?

To me, its just sensationalism garbage to blame someone else, becuase they cant sell a story blaming the shooter, becuase he's already dead.

R.I.P to all those that died today. Let that motherfucker burn in hell who ended their lives so needlessly short.

I think I read that it has 24,000 students, so a very big university....and I agree, you can't blame the university, they probably figured it was an isolated incident & would have been told so by the police & acted on that advice....you can't blame a university for one man's actions....

I can't really agree with the part about the stricter gun control, as from the way I see it, this Asian guy isn't your typical criminal & if there were tighter controls, maybe he would've not had a gun at his mercy & maybe just a knife or a baseball bat....the whole incident doesn't seem as pre-meditated as Columbine & was more an insecure person with some serious issues losing it....

I don't know, we'll see when more info comes to light....either way, RIP to all the victims & their families....a sad, sad day for them indeed....if this doesn't result in tightened gun controls in US, nothing will....

Man i hate hearing about things like these, because it just makes me think what'd be like to lose a family member or someone close. This is a tragic day. i send my condolences to all the families and friends of People who are wounded or dead.
R.I.P :(

I was watching TV here when I recognized one of my dormmates from freshman year on TV , he had lost a sister in the shootings. It is a real shame this had to happen , he was a cool guy and we used to hang out together playing Xbox until midnight on those freshman days. I express my condolences.

I just read something about a kid who was just a month from graduation, he was pretty much done with school but just hung round the campus until his family could come up to see his rggaduation. He was killed in the shooting. Shit like that must destroy a family. That Trey kid that was interviewed, he seems like a great guy. Holding the door shut as the bastard shoots through it, then quickly helping others who were hit using his clothing to stop bleeding after the shooter gave up and moved on.

For some worthless, useless waste of oxygen to come in and take lives like that - then his own... man, I can't even find the words to describe how I feel. I am happy he is dead, but I sorta wish he was alive so justice could be served. He took everyone down with him. Why, you sack of shit, could you not just of killed yourself and prevented the extreme pain that 32 families are going to feel?

I cant really say much that hasnt already been said but i caught this as i was buying lunch yesterday.
1. What a sick fuck, all this over a relationship. Somebody's parents missed getting this kid help when he should've gotten it long before
2. Dont believe in prayer but energy sure so everybody send all the postiive energy you can to VT students, family, and friends, its going to be a rough few months at least for them.

Well they are saying the dead gunman is this 23-year old senior by the name of Cho Seung Hui, originally from Korea. Though haven't found confirmation that he is the gunman from both shootings, unless they are connected, in which case yes. He is different from the guy that was in the youtube videos.... But I also heard that when police heard it was an asian male, the police started to arrest any eastern asian male. So maybe this explains the asian male in handcuffs.

Also this article from ABC: http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3048108&page=1

That statement in there by the Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker is bullshit though....

Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:47 am

The murderer killed himself. I can't believe people would post pictures of an arrested Asian and say, "Oh that's the guy!" when every single news report says that he killed himself.

Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:57 am

He is from Korea? CLOSE THE DAMN BORDERS! All immigrants are killers and drug dealers.

Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:58 am

well i guess i police had probable cause because they didn't know how many guys were shooters at that time. but yeah the guy in the press pics looks very similar to the actual shooter.

crazy asians.

I'm an immigrant and I haven't had the bright idea of purchasing a weapon or selling drugs to kids yet, although your stupid ass 2nd amendment allows the first one
So what about the two killers from Columbine then?

an interesting look at it.

crazy that Nikki Giovanni (a famous poet) teaches at the school. seeing that he was into creative writing, he must have wanted to take her class.

I wouldn't say this thread is the wisest place for sophomoric, childish nonsense sarcasm or joking. (N) Certainly disrespectful towards all involved.

According to this from the Washington Post, the girl killed was Emily Hilscher, and they seem to indicate that she didn't have much connection with the gunman. Would make sense how he was still looking for her in Norris.

Hilscher and Clark

Apparently the RA ran over to investigate the incident and met up with the gunman and got shot.

Apparently they said he loved Counterstrike... and they say these games have no affect on people's behavior.

Are you joking? First they blame the University. Then they blame the gun laws. Now people are blaming counterstike for this shit? Just accept the guy was a nut and scum of society. Theres no grey area. Theres no blame to be passed around.

As sad as it is, this is where it always seems to go. Next they'll be rifling through his DVD collection and blaming his violent movies, or the rap music in his CD collection. There were psychos before Grand Theft Auto and gangster rap, etc. and there are non-psychos after they came to fruition. Just another case of people looking to place blame since the one who all the blame should fall on is dead.

el badman wrote:your stupid ass 2nd amendment

How ignorant. The second amendment allows for the rest of the Bill of Right. The only free people are an armed people.
This has nothing to do with race you fucking idiot.

Look who's calling people idiots. The word "immigrant" has nothing to do with race either.

Anyway.

This guy had serious issues. Read his plays, he was recommended to treatment for them. He would sit and stare at the wall for hours according to his roommates. He stalked girls regularly, and never had a girlfriend apparently. Wasn't involved with the girl he killed initially.
But I also heard that when police heard it was an asian male, the police started to arrest any eastern asian male. So maybe this explains the asian male in handcuffs.

The guy who was arrested was a school newspaper "reporter" who would not cooperate with the police and was getting in the way of rescue efforts.
Apparently the RA ran over to investigate the incident and met up with the gunman and got shot.

The RA came to help in the argument, not the shooting. Cho went back to his room and got his gun came back and shot them according to the reports.

He also called in a bomb threat after the first shooting and wrote his letter then. He signed it "Ismail Ax" and wrote it in red on his arm. It's a reference to a story.
the whole incident doesn't seem as pre-meditated as Columbine & was more an insecure person with some serious issues losing it....

Yesterday it didn't but now it does. He bought the first gun in March and waited out the 30 day period for the second. Likely called in bomb threats each week this month.

There were warning signs. The university and police botched it after the first murders and the bomb threat. Their policy of "gun-free" also put more people in harm. Cho wasn't going to be stopped in doing something, but it's not like officials didn't do everything they could. They could've done a lot more than other times people have no problem blaming someone who could've done little. (Bush, for 9/11 or Katrina, for example.)

I'm a huge fan of violent video games. Do you see me going around shooting up schools? Millions of people play these violent video games. How come they don't have the same effect on everyone else? This guy was evil and sick and twisted. The video games had little to do with him going out, getting the guns and committing the crime. The guy is a coward and a terrorist, but not because of the silly games he played.

When I was younger, my friends and I played these games quite a bit too, yet none of us are going on shooting sprees. Just because there is a connection there does not mean there is a correllation.

This guy was insane.

Dude seriously just walked into classrooms and started firing randomly.
