There. Are you happy?
That's not my actual car. I found that on google, and my car is the same colour and model. Pretty girly, huh? lol
It actually looks slightly cooler in this pic than it really is in real life.
Cute car man.
@Joe- Why am I not surprised thats your means of transportation? I always wanted a scooter before I grew so tall. If I was living in Europe I'd want it even more so. Just seems so cool.
@Yohance- So thats what you look like.

I wouldn't even want what some of you guys have. You guys have too good of cars. My dream vehicle is a v8 engine, extended cab, 4x4 pick-up. I am simplier than you guys.

A V8-engine? V8-engines have no technology at all and barely make it to 20 mpg. Not to mention the fact that they produce a lot more CO2 than other normal cars (by normal I don't mean a normal car in America since 'normal' for you means a car with a V6, I mean a straight-four-engine car that can be found anywhere else in the world), and by doing so, they contribute to pollution issues and global warming. Why would anyone (other than a redneck) ever get a car with a V8-engine?
I'm okay with someone getting a pickup, I personally love trucks and there's lots of pickups with economic and global warming-friendly engines, like the Ford Ranger, but getting a truck with a V8-engine means you want to contribute to global warming.

I currently have a v6 Ford Ranger and it has no towing power what so ever. Hell, if I had a load heavier than 100lbs in the back of my truck the thing struggles. Granted, I have a small v6,
Plus, having a v8 with four wheel drive would make driving in the shit we get up here in Minnesota a lot easier. My truck gets stuck on a snowball right now. That's not what I want from my truck. Sorry, Mr. Gore.

If you have to deal with snow issues every day then it gets as simple as this: Make sure your next car isn't a pickup.
Pickups aren't made to go on freezing roads nor snow, they're made to carry heavy stuff on their cargo area.
Get a SUV, possibly a Land Rover or Volvo: They don't have huge engines, actually if I'm not mistaken, they don't get bigger than 3.2 V6 but using something called technology, they got to develop the best 4X4 systems on the planet
.
And Riot, since you mentioned Mr. Gore: global warming isn't about politics, it's a moral issue: We can't continue emitting CO2 like we have done in the past 50 years, otherwise we won't have a place to live in anymore. Lately, it's getting as serious as that.

I need/want a pick-up though so I can have the best of both worlds with the four wheel drive. Trucks these days are getting better and better because of the demand for them, that includes their four wheel drive systems.
There is a lot of reasons why our planet is getting warmer and warmer. Ultimately, I don't think it is something we can control or change. Mars is undergoing severe climate changes of their own right now (their global warming). We aren't advanced enough to know what the planet will be like in 50 years.
They say cows produce more dangerous gases than humans do. Should we all become veggies then? Global warming maybe happening, but there is little we can do to stop it now I am afraid. However, I don't think the effects are going to be as serious as some scientists say they will.
Plus, I don't think it is my responsiblity to ensure the world isn't polluted a tad bit more by getting a vehicle that is more environmently friendly but ultimately not effective for the use I need. I'm not going to sacrafice my trips up north to go snowmobiling or fishing because of global warming...because quite frankly, me driving a v6 over a v8 will do nothing to the life expectancy of Planet Earth. It needs to be a world wide movement if you want change and you can wake me up when you get everyone else on board with it.

4X4 systems on pickup trucks won't ever be like SUV's simply because trucks aren't meant to go off-road.

As for global warming, I'm not surprised with your reply. You're republican so I actually expected that exact answer from you.
You think global warming is something we can't control so you give up? Don't you care about the future of your children?
Mars has been undergoing "global warming" for thousands of years, the Earth's warming has started 50 years ago and has already reached a really high level, do you really want to further?
Are you a politician or something? Do you earn money for supporting oil extraction? How can you say there's nothing we can do?!?
There's obviously something we can do, and that is abolish every single material or substance that damages the atmosphere.
We could've done it even twenty years ago but there's obviously some people who takes profit from damaging the world.
How do you think your country pays that huge foreign debt it has? Or that war you started more than 5 years ago?
European countries have started paying their contribution to eliminate global warming (even if in a minimal way) more than ten years ago and actually emit 1000 tonnes of CO2 in more than a minute while the US, China and Russia emit that quantity of CO2 in less than 10 seconds.
I'm with you on the fact that it has to be a world wide movement but if we don't start this personally, it will never be a world wide movement.
On topic, this is the ride I'm getting next January for my 16th birthday.
It's a Kawasaki Eliminator powered with an air-cooled 125 cc engine. Really makes my current scooter look like shit.

First off, I hardly ever go off road so that agrument is invalid. But I find having a full ton, 4x4 pick-up with some sandbags in the back a great weapon to use against the Minnesota winters. Never drove an SUV in the winter so I wouldn't know how well they handle but I'm perfectly fine with a truck in the snow. It's NOT the main reason why I need a pick-up but it's an added bonus.
Secondly, I understand the need to change and become less dependent on oil but are you really telling me I should give up the things I love to do so I can "save the planet"? Me switching to a hybrid car or some half ton pick-up (which I have already) that has no torque and can't pull the snowmobiles or boat we use when we go up north is not going to save the planet. I'm not going to change the life expectancy of this planet by myself and I know nobody else is going to change with me. Why the hell will I give up my weekend trips to the lake for that? You tell me the benefit I get out of it and I'll let you know if it is worth it.
Thirdly, if you want to be concerned about pollution talk to China. They are heading in the wrong direction, atleast America is making strides to become better. However, the reality of the situation is we are dependent on oil and it's going to be very, very hard to switch. It might take a complete oil crisis to get everything to flip into gear and have the country really start focusing on alternate fuel sources.
Right now, I'm not impressed with the line of vehicles they have out right now and I'm going to wait until they give me something that gets me what I want. If I want a full sized truck I see no reason why I can't do that. I don't need your permission or blessing to do it. If you want to save the planet by yourself go ahead. I pick up trash I see on the ground. I recycle. I think I do more than my share when you consider what others do. I'm the least of your concern, buddy. You are fighting the wrong guy.

If you get to drive it, it counts, if you don't, it doesn't.
However, I heard the new Prius gets 45+ mpg, is that a fact?
Mon Jun 04, 2007 2:23 am
It gets 60mpg on the highway, and I don't get to drive it yet.
Another cool thing about the Prius is that we've had it since Thursday and we've drove like 200+ miles and the gas tank is practically full.

Getting a truck with a V6 engine is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It's almost as dumb as getting a truck without 4 wheel drive. If you gonna get some tiny little V6 pickup, you might as well buy a minny van. They have no power. You can't tow crap with them, you can't haul anything big.
And if you have no 4x4, then you can't take your truck anywhere but the road, and it does nothing in the winter. One of the points of having a truck is so that you can have a reliable vehicle when the need comes to use it off road.
If I were ever getting anything for off road, I would always buy a truck, always. I'd never buy an SUV for off road, in fact I'd never buy an SUV period. When winter rolls around, you see SUV's in the ditch and trucks and cars on the road, because car drivers drive like grandmas, truck drivers drive smart, and the SUV drivers drive like their 4x4 will get them out of any situation and the next thing they know they're in a ditch.
Mon Jun 04, 2007 4:53 am
Car drivers dont drive like grandmas...but yeah todays SUVs arent made to go off-road...
Mon Jun 04, 2007 6:24 am
Everyone who I know who is driving a car that isn't made for the snow in the snow drives like a grandma, obviously they don't when there's no snow, but who wouldn't drive like a grandma in that situation.

being from boston, i drive like i do in the snow as i do in the rain, no change. its dumb, i know its dumb, people tell me its dumb, yet for some reason everyone of us from boston drives that way. no wonder we had that 100 car pile up a few years back

I just got one of these:
A 1994 Mitsubishi Galant. Mine is the same color, but it also has a spoiler. It needs a little bit of work (burned valve), but we're going to get it running soon. It was free and only has 66k miles...
Best of all it, it has a sexy 5 speed manual tranny. woot.
My current car looks like this sans spoiler
