I don't got 20/20 vision but it doesn't affect my skills on court. I am near sighted which means I can see close good and can't see far not as well. Right now I wear jus glasses so I can see shit from far away. But on the court, it's a tad blurry but doesn't effect it.

Firstly, the ammount of effect your eyes have on you depends on the level that they are at. If they are really bad, I'm sure you can tell for yourself. I have a mate who wears glasses... his lens were really really focused or watever; when I wore his glasses, it killed my eyes. He quit basketball cause he refused to get contacts and because his glasses always got knocked off his head.

And finally, does anyone on here require glasses on the court, and perhaps wears contact lenses during games? I was thinking about either playing the way im playing now, getting contacts, or in a few months, laser eye surgery (im 17 now, ill get it before im 18 - claim it on parents health care haha)

If you are really concerned, I would say try contacts... I have been told that it takes some getting used to and some people can't take it. If so and you really need help seeing, consult your doctor for treatment. (Y)

Oh yeah, just to add. I got eye surgery too. LASIK is what most people get nowadays and it works wonders. I had 20/20 vision overnight. Great feeling to see clearly again without any help from glasses or contacts.

Is it expensive? I don't want this to get worse and then be stuck with it.

How much did your's cost? And how old are you, cause seeing as you got the surgery, it means the degrees and your eyes have stopped growing or something

I'm 20. The doctors seem to prefer younger patients I think. I think it's harder to perform it on patients 50 yrs old and up. They cost more for older people too. As for the cost, I'm not sure if it'll cost the same in other countries since the currency and the cost of living is different. My mom wanted me to take the surgery instead of her. Best thing that's ever happened in terms of health IMO esp. considering I really had bad eyesight. It took like 5-10mins and a night's sleep. The next morning you're fine. Just a couple of checkups and no sports for a month to prevent getting your eyes hit by accident until it's not as fragile.

I used contacts before that and it was pretty ok too except it can take up some time especially at the start and there are days when I can't even play because my eyes keep itching. All I can say is contacts aren't for everyone even though I've used it for a few years.

You should also consider the goggles thing if contacts aren't for you.
