i'd say it's time to upgrade, atleast i am. and i've seen the 360 for as low as $580 at Harvey norman.(just the basic console).
I'll be sure to get 2k7 and Topspin 2 looks good aswell

I've never been able to play tennis games
Is 580 bucks a low price?

DEAN, my advice is to invest money in a gaming machine. And, if you have a more extensive knowledge of computers, you could build yourself one, and save money. It will still be expensive, but can be used for a lot more than just games. Also, (yes I know this is illegal) but you can find games for free on the internet, if you get what I mean. The only reason I even mention this is due to the fact, that XBOX360 games are selling for $60 each in the US which seems outrageous to me. Anyways, you need to do what is best for you. If you don't already have an HDTV to play on, it will also add to the price of a next gen console making the PC and it around the same.

OK i was reading a JB Hifi catalogue and i saw the 360, with a wireless controller, Media Remote and 20gb HD for $587, u can also get Kameo and another game and a controller for an extra $100. This is easily the best deal i've seen so far

Thats a fair bargain!!! Even if you don't like Kameo, you could at least trade it for something. I would buy a plug and play charger and an additional battery as well so you can have both controls firing at the one time, or at least one charging while the other has a fair amount of battery life.

is that the better of the two packages? or the smaller one?
Sun Oct 15, 2006 4:33 am
I think the larger package is better since it gives you a 20gb HD which is useful for storing all kinds of stuff and I think you need it to play previous xbox games too. In the long run I'm sure its worth it since you also get a wireless controller, ethernet cable, HD AV cable and a headset.

Also, if your investing in a 360, I think its best to have an HDTV to go along with it. You get the best graphics while playing on a HDTV screen. Especially as far as sports games go.

Any nextgen console is useless without an HDTV. On regular tvs, they don't look much better than current gen.

I concur completely....I didn't know this until I had already bought the 360, so then I had to go out & get a HDTV LCD....

I'll have about $1500 in a few weeks, but I'll be fucked if I'm spending it all on a bloody video game machine and a TV.
Sun Oct 15, 2006 8:00 pm
Thats what I was thinking, unless you have plenty of money to throw at what ever you want, I wouldn't buy a 360. Paying that amount of money for better graphics and a bit of fun is far to expensive. I would rather use that money for things I actually need.
Sun Oct 15, 2006 9:33 pm
a TV was on the cards anyway....my PC sucks these days & I needed a DVD player....a bit more than I wanted to spend, but ahh well, I thought I best get it all before I got hitched
Sun Oct 15, 2006 9:40 pm
I'd buy the 360 on it's own but the TV would be over the top, I'm still thinking about it because I don't particularly give a shit about the graphics, I'm more interested in the removal of limitations... and the fact that games like Pro Evo and FM are only available on it and not the regular Xbox.
Sun Oct 15, 2006 9:44 pm
if 2k series wasn't on pal for 360 then I wouldn't have one....
Sun Oct 15, 2006 9:48 pm
I'm leaning towards the 360 over the Wii because Nintendo releases children games

J/k.
It's just that the Xbox360 will have the awesome sports games (although Wii is gonna have Madden 07 with usage of the Wii remote [which I've read about and sounds awesome flicking the remote to throw the ball and other things] and that the Wii is cheaper) and it also has more features which I won't use I guess (like music on the HD [I use my iPod/PC]).
But the biggest factor is money, damn I need a job.
Oh well, I'd "invest" in an Xbox360 if my computer was 10 years old.
Sun Oct 15, 2006 9:51 pm
I think when it first came out the appeal was mostly the graphics, but now that the other things are starting to be utilised, even without the graphics it sounds like games are going to be better all round on the 360... hmmm... at least the prices are dropping.

I say get it while its hot. There are great titles to choose from and you will enjoy the hd era. I love playing dead rising in 1080i on my 57" tv. Go for it you wont regret it.

OK, here's a poll idea - Over/Under 12 interceptions per game using this method?

Oh yeah!! You can pick up a 360 av cable that has all lcd resolutions for hd on pc monitors. Also if you use your pc with the monitor you might want to invest in a vga switch or splitter.

I bought a 20" widescreed LCD monitor to use with my 360. Looks perfect! I would definately recommend using your monitor cause the HD output looks awesome. Once 2k7 comes out and I finish exams I can give you an indication when I do an association and take screens with a digital camera. Might be too late by then though...
