Where do you work?

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Occupation: Cashier
Pay: $6.50 per hour

It's pretty easy because the only thing I'm doing is checking out groceries, but you got to remember all the codes for hundreds of fruits and vegetables and stuff like that. Then, the customers that always got an attitude when you ask them how they doing. The worse thing about it is customer attitudes and the customers that buy 2 baskets worth of shit, and can only pay for like one basket worth using their foodstamp card. What's the point of getting all that knowing you only got a certain amount on your foodstamp card? But, the employees cool and all that and its a good summer job, plus we get paid every week instead of every 2 weeks :P

My first job was when I was 15...I worked at a Pakistani restaurant. I hated it. Rude people, cheap people, and the not-so-rare smelly people. The food was good, though. I quit after a year, and started volunteering at a hospital until I finished high school. Since my freshman year of college, I've been working in a lab at school. I hope I can get an internship next summer for a law firm...that would be nice.

I work at an electronics store called Circuit City. I get paid $8.10 an hour to deal with rich white people from Newport Beach complaining about how much money they spend in our store and other fun stuff like that. I'm definitely not paid enough to put up with everything I do, but I can't think of anywhere else I can get paid for watching TV while I work

I know what you mean. I work at a country club and some people are really stuck up. The least they could say is "Thank you". That means a lot.

That's pretty cool that these famous guys actually went into McDonalds. I always think people like that would have someone else go get stuff for them.

heh, funny you mention that because when I started working at CC, there were a lot of hot girls working there... and my department consisted of 5 girls and 2 guys (including myself). Now it's been almost a year and it's a fucking sausagefest... and the only girls working there are hideous.

Don't you have a sheet with all the different numbers on it? We do... but after two or three weeks I memorized most of the common ones anyway.

Yea, but if you want to do everything quick, u got to memorize most of them. If you memorize the common ones then your straight. And some of the produce have a little sticker on them anyway so the code would be on the fruit or vegetable sometime.

I think i've said this once before. I work in a factory that makes sandwhiches. It's decent money but i don't like my job. Having a job like this over the past few months has numbed my brain/personality due to all the repeatedness. So much time spent on thoughtless labour.

But hey, it's good money - I saved up and bought a car worth $3,500 within months. Also i have to work this year to save up for next year's lack of employment. (Though my current bank balance is like 2 dollars)

Strip subs are the best. One time I went into Red Rooster to get my mum a chicken dinner...

Me: Hi I'll have a chicken dinner..
Checkout girl: Sorry We're out of chickens.
Me: Are you serious? What about roosters, do you have any of them?

I've never seen a dirtier look then the girl gave me. Oh well, it was worth it .

Been working at my family's restaurant and done some volunteer work now and then but basically that's the only job I've ever had lucky me for not having to stand in a grease pit at KFC.
