I agree with you X, the game certainly isn't what it could be. I (well, tried to) play the game for about an hour, but uninstalled it shortly thereafter. The menu/interface and music might be my favourite thing about this game...
I haven't enjoyed playing NHL series since 2000/2001, and it seems like that wont change for some time to come.. EA seriously need to step it up; Or, even better, scrap the whole thing a put the funds to the NBA Live series

that would be nice....I'll be returning the game tomorrow....it was a waste of my time I guess....I'll pre-order something reliable like Gears of War, Tony Hawk or COD3 or NBA2k7....maybe I'll give NHL2k7 a go, but nah, I think it's put me off the idea....I expected better....and I didn't really like the music or menu/interface, so it wasn't good for me....

I got a 10 dollar gift card when I bought it, so when I return it for nextgen Live it wont cost me a cent

I'm not really a huge ice hockey fan, but though it might be sweet, but I dunno after playing it....
Wow, in Austrailia you can return a game for the full price if its within a week? That's so kick ass!!!
I bet you don't have many video game rentals though then.
Here if you open the game you bought it, no refunds. The only way you can get money for it is to sell it back to the store but for a $60 brand new game you'll probably get $35 for it.

I bought it from EB....over here, EB gives you a 7 day trial period....I won't get a refund, I'll just use money with other older trade-ins to pre-order a couple of new games (maybe 2k7, maybe PES6, maybe Gears of War, maybe TH8, maybe COD3, definitely not Live)....
we don't really have much in the way of video game rentals over here, especially for next gen systems....it's more convenient for me to read reviews etc on internet & if I like the sound of it, give it a shot & then return it if it's crap....EB's a little bit more expensive, but the return policy makes it worthwhile unless I know I won't be returning the game....
EDIT: I returned NHL 07, as well as trading in COD2 (finished it), PS2 Tony Hawk Underground 2 & a PS2 memory card....I have pre-order & paid 10% of Gears of War, pre-order & paid for 75% of Tony Hawk Project 8 & pre-order & paid 100% of NBA 2k7....can anyone give verdict on NHL 2k7, I might just try Madden 08 & NHL 2k8 when they improve even more....

NHL 07 sucks big time. Huge disappointment. It's nearly identical to NHL 06; at least the graphics and animation are identical.

Nope, haven't played NHL 2k7. I don't think there's a PC version

Has it even come out yet?

I think NHL 07 is much better than 06. The graphics are improved a bit, there are new goalie animations and some new crowd cut-scenes. The gameplay is much better than last year's, the goalies dont flop around now. With some minor adjustments to the sliders you can get a pretty realistic game. Two Thumbs Up for NHL 07

Well I picked this game up and it isnt too bad. I got excited watching ESPN and seeing highlights of Sidney Crosby and thats about the only reason I got it. Not a bad game but of course I'm not comparing it to anything else since I havent played an NHL game in years.

Lol, I remember that game well, there were times where you were in great position to score off of a rebound, clear open net with the goalie down, but out of nowhere, the goalie would suddenly turn into a brick wall

.

I don't really like hockey but I picked up NHL 07 with the hopes of getting into hockey. Let me say, I'm very impressed. The game is great and I love playing it. I even watched a Wild game a few days ago after playing some of it. I love the Dodge Shootout when you control the goalie. The game itself is great and a lot of fun to play. I haven't even tried Dynasty Mode and I think it's worth the bucks. Where can I get some good, realistic sliders for the game (360)?

Thanks a lot Cable.

I'm in the exact same boat as Riot. I'm not the biggest hockey fan, but this game is pretty damn fun. Double Minor's got some pretty bad ass mods too.

I know exactly what you guys are talking about, even though I am a hockey fan. The NHL series is the ultimate game to play with your friends IMO.

It's obvious I need some more practice with this game. I tried PM's sliders (Superstar) and I lost 9-2 (Sabres vs. Hurricanes). Miller sucks!

Its not to arcadish. The shots are awesome,no more unrealistic one-timers,now that is a big plus for me.I already uninstalled it from my computer due to freeing up some disc space, but I think I'm going to install it again.
Edit: Do any of you guys know of any patch sites ? Except for
www.doubleminor.net .
Mon Oct 30, 2006 7:23 pm
I'm surprised people like it, I bought it & it became the first ever game that I've returned back to the store the very next day....the game felt arcadish, no defensive game from CPU, but goalies are extra good to make up for it....I didn't really mess with sliders, I was just unimpressed with the game & the graphics....didn't like the camera angle either....
Mon Oct 30, 2006 9:33 pm
Well you had it on Xbox 360 right ?
Maybe its not the same as the PC version, simulation vise. And the patches make it even more better and cooler so I am really happy with it .Also I messed with the sliders to get a defensive game and it was good.
Mon Oct 30, 2006 11:02 pm
yep, I was on 360....I'm sure the game is good co-op game due to humans having good defense, but against computer, not so good....dynasty mode seemed stripped down like all ea next gen titles as well....I guess I'm just use to basketball titles, but I didn't like any of the camera angles that they had on offer....I've heard 2k7 is a better game minus the shot stick, but I think I'll now give ice hockey a miss for another year....
I guess if I was a ice hockey fan, it might be different, but for a casual watcher, it wasn't my cup of tea....

Man this game is awesome to play human vs. human .Only fighting games beat, hockey games when you are looking for a game that supports two players. And yes,I am a hockey fan so I understand you in a way,you don't enjoy the game like hockey fans do.
Didn't try 2K7,damn I wish I had a console .. so I can't say much about that one. What I can say is I'm happy with NHL 07 its not bad.
