Sabonis may not be one of the best NBA players, but he certainly is one of the best international players. Another good example is Oscar Schmidt, he may not be considered a good player if we base it on NBA experience, because he had none, but many will argue that he's one of the best players internationally.

Oscar Schmidt is like 20 times better than Sabonis. I mean, he's the player that scored most points in his basketball career, ever. He scored 11.000 points more than Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who finished his career with 38.000.
If you say Oscar Schmidt is one of the best centers to ever play the game of basketball, I accept it, if you say the same about Arvydas Sabonis I can't stand it. You cannot compare them. Oscar Schmidt was way better. And I'm pretty sure that (if he would have decided to play in the NBA) he would have finished his NBA career with a higher average than 12 points and 7 rebounds per game.
