But here's my top 3, with brief explanation

1 - Rakim - Brought lyricism to another level back in 87, and continually shreds tracks. Everything I've heard him on in the last 5 years has been absolutely flames.

2 - Nas - Made Illmatic. It's absolutely perfect in all ways and is my favourite album of all time. He's the most poetic rapper and has the best imagery. His combination of that with his great storytelling ability is amazing.

3 - KRS - 4 classic albums easily, he shut down an entire area of New York with one song, has been releasing albums for pretty much 20 years without comprising himself once, he ain't as good as he once was, but his last album was still pretty good.

The rest of the top 10, in order, without explanation: Ice Cube, Scarface, Chuck D, Andre3000, Ghostface, Jay-Z, GZA.

Although I don't listen to much hip hop/rap anymore, I did when I was younger. My vote goes to Tupac from the names listed but the greatest rapper of all-time, who wasn't even included on the list, has to be Nas, hands down the greatest rapper of all-time.
