Thierry Henry did not hold back his words when a reporter asked him about France's chance against the Brazilian team if they meet in a later round.
Henry stated "We will defeat them....no doubt about that whatsoever."
Perhaps still bitter after his team's Champions league defeat to Ronaldinho's FC Barcelona side, Henry continued to say "Brazil's best player is supposedly the great Ronaldinho but he was far from behind even slightly decent the last time I played against him on the pitch. He was pretty much invisible and I saw no sign of his class. Our team is just as strong or stronger than the Brazilian side and we will the the world they must not ignore the French. We will regain our trophy by all means."
After such harsh words Thierry jumped on to the team bus back to the French National Team's hotel. It is uncertain what the Brazilian team's response will be to Henry's criticism and reporters will be on hand for any response in coming days.

Adriano and R. Carlos are first in line to congratulate Ronaldo after his record-tying goal.
RESULT: BRAZIL 3-0 CROATIA
MAN OF THE MATCH:Ronaldo (2 gls)
The Brazilian national team beat Croatia 3-0 in their opening match with a double from Ronaldo and another from Adriano. Ronaldo, in the process, has tied Gurd Muller or Germany as the top goalscorer in World Cup history with 14 goals and is just one strike away from sitting alone at the top.
Ronaldo spoke with our reporters about the accomplishment, stating "First and foremost it is important that the team got the win. We were expecting a greater challenge from Croatia but even though they had a couple chances the result was never in doubt." He continued to say "Personally, I am honored that all the hard work I have put in over the years has led me to being recognized in such a manner and the World Cup is the greatest tournament in the world so it makes it even sweeter. Many have doubted my drive, and whether or not I could return to my goalscoring way, hopefully this will open their eyes."
THE MATCH
Fans waited outside for hour in anticipation of Brazil's opening match and surely must have been pleased with the result. It goes without saying that Brazil completely dominated this match, possing over 55% of the ball during the course of the game. Croatia only got two shots off the entire match and unfortunately for them neither was on target. The Brazilians looked sharp and was always a threat to score. There were some worries when both clubs entered their dressing rooms at halftime tied 0-0 but Brazil quickly stamped their class with 3 goals after the intermission. It was a very disappointing match for Croatian fans as they must have been crying mercy after Ronaldo's second goal. Brazil now moves on to preparations for their second match after a successful start to the tournament.
THE GOALS
Adriano (56th), Ronaldo (82th, 90th)
Adriano places his shot comfortably past the Croatian goalkeeper to open the scoring.
Ronaldo shakes off the defender and blasts a powerful left footed strike for his first of the match.

(question directed towards)
Reporter (Coach Parreira): "Did you expect the team to dominate this match in the manner they did?"
Coach: "You must give Croatia some credit becaus even though they were down they kept battling to the end. If it were any other team the scoreline would have probably been more lopsided. We unexpectedly went in at halftime without a single goal so we came out looking to change that instantly. We had most of the possession during the match but they didnt give us an inch until we finally broke them down. After that our class began to show and I felt the victory was assured"
Reporter (Ronaldo): "How does it make you feel to know that you are tied for the most all-time goals in the tournament?"
Ronaldo: "Of course I am proud but as I am telling everyone, the most important thing was the win. Maybe after the tournament I can reflect on this accomplishment and hopefully a World Cup victory."
Reporter (Ronaldo): "Will you be looking to take sole possession of the record in your next match?"
Ronaldo: "If I do, I do. I cannot act selfishly on the pitch as we must remember we are here representing our country. I will do what I can to help the team and if that means scoring a goal, making a tackle or setting up another teammate to score a goal, then I will. The team comes first and I am just one piece to the puzzle."
Reporter (Kaka): "You did not score a goal but you setup Ronaldo's first, will you be looking to get on the scoresheet anytime soon?"
Kaka: "My role on the team is just that, helping to setup goals. If I score or not does not matter to me, that is what we have two World-class strikers up front for. As you know Ronaldinho also picked up an assis in this match and we take great pride in this. This shows that we move the ball well and are always looking out for our teammates so we can gain the upper hand in a match."
Reporter (Adriano): "Do you feel unlucky hitting the post twice?"
Adriano: "*laughs* In a sense yes. I could have had a hat-trick. Who doesnt want one of those *smirks*? Seriously, it doesnt matter much. We won, that is what is important. Now we must prepare for our next match and stay as fit as possible."
Reporter (Ronaldinho): What is your response to Henry's criticism of you personally as well as your team?"
Ronaldinho: "I really have nothing to say to him. He feels the way he feels and thats his business. What matters is that We are out to defend our trophy. He says I have no skill but in the end I was part of a team which won the Champions league and he was part of a team that lost. I dont understand how someone with as little talent as myself can get under his skin like that. He must dream about me often, I dont know *laughs*. If he feels his team is as good as ours then we will meet sometime in the tournament and be able to draw a conclusion. It would be a pity if he could not back up his words since he is the one doing all the talking. I must say his English has improved greatly since the last time I heard him whine to the press *smiles*."

RESULT: BRAZIL 4-1 Australia
GOALS:Viduka-AUS (26th), Ronaldinho-BRA (57th), Kaka-BRA (71st), Ronaldo-BRA (75th), Adriano-BRA (92nd)
MAN OF THE MATCH:Ronaldinho (1 gl)
In a match which was undecided until late in the second half, Brazilian striker Ronaldo has put himself at the top of the all-time World Cup goalscoring list. Play was halted for 5 minutes as he was allowed to greet FIFA President Sepp Blatter, his teammates, coching staff, former members of Brazilian national team and also adoring fans.
THE MATCH
1st HALF
Things did not start out as pleasant as Brazil expected due to an early goal which put them on their back-heel, courtesy of Aussie captain Viduka. Australia dominated the opening moments of the match and were unlucky not to be 2 goals ahead after Viduka barely missed a marvelous header which had Brazilian goalkeeper Dida frozen in his steps. Brazil soon began to get themselves more involved in the match but the Australian defense held their own and it seemd all Brazilian shots were being swatted down by their dominant goalie. Ronaldo and Adriani were kept in check during the first 45 minutes and Brazilian fans soon had the feeling that an unlikely upset was on the horizon as they went into halftime trailing by a lone goal.

2nd HALF
During halftime, the Brazilian locker room was closed off from the media and you could sense an aura of nervousness surrounding the vicinity. From a distance you could barely hear shouts from their coach attempting to rally his troops and they came out in the second half looking to equalize early.
The Australians fought valiantly but things soon turned sour as Ronaldinho knotted up the match at a goal a piece in the 56th with a well taken strike that slipped past the goalkeeper. At this point Brazil began to take a firm grip on the match and their relentless attack soon provided another goal in the 71st which put them in lead, provided by the right foot of Kaka.
The Moment
Ronaldo put Brazil ahead by two after finishing off a brilliant individual play which saw him beat 3 defenders before calmly scoring his third goal of the tournament. The crowd was sent into a frenzy and Ronaldo was clearly overjoyed as the significance of his goal began to set in. An exclusive interview by dadaworldcupnews.com with the striker regarding this achievement as well as other topics will be provided at a later date.
