Man, you probably will actually. Thet titans will be a nightmare to use without mcnair and his qb vision rating :(.

Well it should be good to go next week.

Not sure if I can use Xbox live yet. I'm living on campus at uni, so I'm the Uni's network. Hoping that perhaps I can put another LAN card in my PC and hook up through that. Not sure though...

The price sounds pretty good if you ask me. $900 is a bargain IMO for the things you got.

Yeah I looked around heaps to get some good deals. Target has got a big sale on at the moment, should check it out. Otherwise palgn.com.au has weekly 'gamer bargains' listed, which will give you a good idea where to buy when you get the $$$

Sat Jun 10, 2006 9:20 pm

Which uni are you at? Why not get a router?

Sat Jun 10, 2006 9:26 pm

Matthew, When the Vikings hit the field, No one will stop them! :D

Sat Jun 10, 2006 9:30 pm

Matt, Is there any lag at all during online play?
I think thats going to be the deciding factor if i decide to get XBL.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 9:30 pm

The Vikings?! Ha! For starters you sound like riot, secondly, the vikings are a joke. Brad Johnson is history, they have no threats on either side of the ball with the exception of darren sharper. We'll have some real shitty games on madden 07 .

Matthew wrote:Which uni are you at? Why not get a router?

Monash. I've got a feeling that a router won't work on the network. I've gotta check with the network admin though. But putting another network card in the PC is essentially the same as a router and a fair bit cheaper. Shall see what happens.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 9:43 pm

Was that an insult that I sound like riot?

 I forgot Michael Bennet went to New Orleans Saints and that Daunte went to Miami :x  I'm to used to Madden NFL 06

It will be probably New Orleans that I chose because Bennet pwns. :)

wait till the price drops, and grab the 360 right when halo 3 comes out. oh man, i can't wait for that day. i'm still playing halo 2 to this day, it never gets old

Sun Jun 11, 2006 8:19 am

When Halo 3 comes out, the price of the 360 will eventually increase, even if a little bit, because of the demand for the game. Don't wait for Halo 3, just find the right time and price before the game comes out.

In theory it may happen, but i dont remember one example of a console going up in price (exlcuidng 2nd hand sales of course) due to demand.

Smart man (Y) Halo 2 is the best game I've ever played, ever.

I got myself an XBox 360 the other day & it has been nothing but problems....dodgey DVD player has scratched up my 2nd copy of NBA2k6 in the last 2 days....will be taking console in on Thursday to swap it....lucky I got a 2 year extended warranty on this sucker....

I got:
XBox 360 Pack (with 1 wireless controller, remote, etc, etc) - $615
    1 additional wireless controllers - $70
2 recharge battery packs (they didn't have a single recharge pack so I got the 2nd one at reduced price) - $30 each
NBA2k6 (will be swapping it for the 2nd time in 2 days tomorrow & blaming the store for giving me a dodgey copy, this time at Target instead of EB  ) - $80
    Oblivion Collector's Edition - $80
    Burnout Revenge - $80
    2 year extended warranty - $85

So that equals $1,070 of stuff....I got $270 trade-in for my PS2 & games so that drops it to $800....I also bought 5 XBox Halo's & 10 PS2 Gran Turismo 3 for $12.50 each & then traded them in for approximately $15.50 each so that saved me $45....so I essentially out of pocket about $755, but that includes a warranty that a lot of people normally won't get, so it's essentially a $680 buy....

I'd be estatic with the system if I didn't have these problems, so I would suggest that people watch out for their systems scratching their games....I think I just got a lemon, but will swap it & should be fine, hopefully....

haven't played Oblivion as I have to study & don't want to get addicted to it....Burnout Revenge is solid car multi-player game....nothing special....

as for NBA2k6, from what I've played of it, the game is superb....although the dunk animation are absolutely shithouse & Live has slightly better controls at times, 2k6 feels the most right a bball title has felt since Live '04....you can make custom teams so my brother, mate & I will have some epic battles, no doubt....can't wait for 2k7 & multi-player association....

I've only got a flat screen TV that runs on 60Hz....graphics obviously look better than XBox etc, but aren't mindblowing IMHO....they're nice, but nothing that makes your eyes pop out....if I had a good TV then I might have a different opinion....

since I don't have broadband at the moment, I can't really comment on XBox Live....I will likely get into XBox Live around the release of NBA2k7 when I will move places & finally get some broadband for the net....in the meantime, I'll get better at 2k games as I suck at the moment....completely different from Live & definitely more difficult IMHO....will require tinkering with sliders as per usual & playbooks, but game really has a nice base....would be good to see some better dunk animations though as some are horrid

overall, my opinion on XBox 360 is reserved until I get one that functions properly as it has been frustrating (N)

Mon Jun 12, 2006 6:51 pm

Good stuff man. Hope it all works out fine! I haven't had the problem with the DVD player as of yet, but that must be pretty frustrating! Anyway man, goodluck gaming and hearing your expanded opinion when everything is in working order.

Did they say congratulations when you bought it? I'll never forget the look on the girls face in eb when she said "congratulations" on launch night and i laughed at her . But where did you buy it from? That sucks about the shonky dvd player.
Burnout Revenge - $80

Man, why? lol. Why burnout? get COD 2 instead.

I'd have to agree, mine hasnt given me any grief and I've had it for 3 months now.

Ive only played 2k6 on my lcd, and im blown away by the graphics. same with madden. oblivion has nice graphics too

The animations at first seem so different from nba live, but thats not a bad thing. I think with live they seem far too quick, although they are more fluid. but once you get xbox live, thats when you realise how good it is. we'll have that online league once you get it up and running as well (Y)

Mon Jun 12, 2006 11:35 pm

Matthew, I'm not overly impressed with Burnout Revenge so I'll probably swap it for another game on Thursday when I swap my console....haven't really decided on what for....any suggestions, aside from Call of Duty 2 (which is already on the list)....

btw, no congrats from EB, got it off my mate down there....he's been real apologetic about it  naturally he said I shouldn't gone Microsoft (he's a Nintendo & Sony boy), but ahh well....& he didn't congratulate me, was just happy that one of his mates finally went next gen....

as for 2k6's animations, I actually really like a lot of them....the layups & some of the post-up moves are nice & more realistic than Live's....there are a few nice dunk ones as well, but there are about 2 horrific ones involving big man 2-handed jams (similar to the one that I think Live '05 or '04 had) but it doesn't really affect the enjoyment....just gives me a laugh that the game can be so good & that gets through, that's all

probably need to look at getting a tv too....don't know what to get though....probably won't rush it, but maybe just before 2k7 comes out....need to find something cheap ($1k or less), HDTV, widescreen if possible....I know gf wouldn't be too happy if I got an expensive tv (especially considering she would prefer if I spent the $$$'s on a ring)

EDIT: Just got my 3rd copy of NBA2k6 in 4 days  although I won't be testing this one until I know that the new console works properly :P

hey Ty, what's FIFA World Cup like?!? or is it too lean on options?!? also to anyone else, what's NHL2k6 like?!? my mate likes ice hockey so would be good to have battles....maybe I'll go Gun/Tony Hawk combo pack....or Call of Duty 2....just trying to work out what to swap Burnout Revenge for, if I do indeed swap it....

only 2 more days until I can swap console & use my custom team to beat my mate....heck, Bogut & Sean Marks were catalysts in my win over my brother's more fancied team

once my exam is done in a week, might start a Bucks' dynasty since Bogut is a machine, plus get into other games :P am trying to get my mate to get a 360 in future so we can play online etc....

also, someone should've mentioned the likes of Pistol Pete & Drazen Petrovic were in the game

Madden is a great game, and despite it being "dumbed down" I thoroughly enjoyed my season with tennesse, check out my titans page (shameless plug!)
Battlefeild 2 is also great. A current day shooter that is one of my favourite games.
You already have oblivion and nba 2k6, so i wont recommend them. I've heard excellent things about fight night and dead or alive 4. Just stay away from nba live and far cry, and dont be afraid to use eb's 7 day return. if you get a game and its shit, take the fucker back and get a new one :).

Also, if you didnt get halo 2 for the xbox, get it for the 360. Despite it being nearly 2 years old, this game is still the benchmark for online gaming.

It's not too bad, haven't played it heaps yet cause I'm finishing off exams to. So I won't go as far as recommending it at the moment, I'll give a review after some more playing time. I'm going to pick up COD2 later in the week as well which I'm looking forward too.

On a shit note the TV I was going to swap with parents is now a 'no-go'. My mum doesn't want to make the trade which pissed me off a bit. So now I have to fork out a couple of hundred $$$ for a LCD monitor. SO I'm hoping I can loan a bit off my folks and pay the rest so I can get it this week. I can afford a 19 inch widescreen at the moment, but I'm thinking of paying a little more for a 20 inch w/screen which is about $490. Whats even more annoying was I had to by the S-video cables for my current TV (which won't play NBA2k6) which cost me $35, but now I don't need them. INstead I'll have to fork out another $35 to get the VGA adapter. What a f@*king waste![/rant]

I have the world cup game as well. Its not bad but i cant believe they didnt make it 1080i.If i were you I would just buy a cheap $500 hdtv because with the vga it only goes up to 720p and a cheap hdtv will be at 1080i. I myself have a 57" toshiba at 1080i but capable of 1080p.It wasnt cheap but its well worth it.

Wed Jun 14, 2006 12:25 pm

Yeah I would get a cheap HDTV but I don't want to spend more than $500AUD at the moment. I'm looking at a 20 inch LCD for $490 which is widescreen, 8ms, and will puump out 720p which will be much better that 480i which I've got at the moment. If I had the money I would splash it on a HDTV, but at the moment I can't afford it, and probably couldn't for a while.

Wed Jun 14, 2006 1:10 pm

yeah, I'll probably spend between $500 & $1,000 for a 20" HDTV widescreen LCD....

Matthew, there's a good chance I'll get Madden '07 as I wouldn't want a Madden without dynasty mode....my brother wants me to get Fight Night, graphics look great but boxing games bore me....I've heard good things about Table Tennis as a multi-player but I might get that when it's real cheap (I've seen it for $60 at Target)....not sure....it's a tough call as I don't know what I really want for that 3rd game behind NBA2k6 & Oblivion :(

Know what your buying though. LCD's do not last because they have dead pixels and screen burn in. Id go with a plasma, DLP, or projection. Just giving some advice because i have had numerous problems with old LCD's. Fight night is an awesome game btw. I wouldnt have thought that i would like it, but it turns out its now one of my favorite games.

Wed Jun 14, 2006 2:13 pm

Madden has franchise mode, but not owner mode. If worst coms to worst, get halo 2 :)

thanks for the pointers....although I've heard that plasma gets dead pixels too....I just can't validate spending the extra money I don't think, but will shop around, talk to different people in the know & work from there....

so Fight Night is good, eh? interesting....might get Dead or Alive 4....will find out tomorrow when I'm at the stores, will decide on the spot

Got my LCD display. Got a Viewsonic 20 inch widescreen. Looks glorious!!!! Now I'm just trying to get used to the controls, which is hard because my brain is in Live mode. Anyway the graphics are amazing in HD, looks like real life!!! Lovin it at the moment. (Y)

damn, that's awesome....definitely might have to get an LCD TV sooner rather than later then
