Curfew for certain age groups.

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

its weird going out at like 2 AM (i live in a town with 3 colleges) and seeing like middle schoolers on street corners, its really weird. agree totally with jackal but imposing a curfew... it can be imposed, but how many will listen, they are out already.

Well alot of kids such as the 13-year olds think its cool to be out that late, but they really don't have anything to do. The only time I'm out after that time is if I'm at a party that last til' about 12 or 1 or actually doing something. I'm just not out there for the hell of it just to walk around and look at people letting them know I'm some kid hanging around the city at midnight. But, I'm 17 so I got more things to do rather than the younger teen.

If even 40% of the curfew was followed, it wouldn't be as "cool" to be on the streets. Kids would find something better to do, I'm hoping.

Here in the Philippines we have a curfew for under 18 from 10pm upto 4am. If the "Barangay Tanod"(Street Watch) caught you, you will spend the night into the Barangay Hall. Kinna detain you for overnight.

First offense will have overnight dettention. When the morning comes the "Barangay Tanod" will escort you to your home and have your parents sign on the record book that their son/daughter has been caught forz curfew and will do a community service.

That will serve as a lesson for those stubborn kids.

I agree with whoever has said that it's a good idea in theory, but it wouldn't work. The way I see it is if you're stupid enough to be out that late, and smoke, and fail school, and end up working in some hell-hole job, that's your own damn fault. I'd rather spend the night at one of my friends playing road hockey until we can't even see the ball and then going inside to watch a movie / play video games, then do nothing outside until morning. If they want to fuck themselves over, so be it.

Whose fault is it? Everyone's. Like Jackal said, society's ideas have changed so much that it's now considered the norm to act like a druggie/gangsta/fucktard (thanks for the word Jae :P ). Those people are screwed up.

On a side but related note, I often think about what it would be like to grow up in the 50's-70's. My dad grew up in the late 60's/early 70's, and he tells me stuff like how his high school used to give him the key to the gym so he could shoot hoops on the weekend. If that happened now ... I don't even know what, it would never happen. I'd love to just go outside all day and ... be outside. That's one of the things I like about where I live, I can go outside and play without worrying about getting hit by a car.

EDIT: Fuck all of you, now I'm up late replying to all these posts. :P

First it's breaking curfew, then it's travelling around in cars when you're 22 years old looking for people to bash...

No shit, last weekend my friend walked home from his own "going away" celebration (he's going to america. Actually, he left today). But during the walk home he was haggled by 4 people in a car. Eventually 3 of the guys got out of the car and beat him up. Completely fucking unprovoked. :x He was in hospital for the rest of the night. God damn that pisses me off! Makes me lose faith in the human race.

So what if there were a curfew while they were teens? Maybe they wouldn't have gone down the wrong track and decide to drive cars around looking for people to bash? Would the curfew have stopped this?

The answer is no. I agree with magius. A curfew wont do a great deal.

Rebelious teens will find more of a thrill in being out late past *gasp* ooooh, curfew!

That was in the middle of december last year, and only for 2 days, and only in one town. It was a pretty dam big riot, but it hasnt spread throughout Australia and isnt such a big deal anymore.

At first i thought, "why would they go around beating people up as fast as they can?"

But no it wasn't race related. It was just a random moron attack.
