never heard of that game eight days before but games like that make me want a PS3 more than a 360

GTA IV will be released Fall 2007. On multiple platforms. Now with the steep price, I think Microsoft could gain a winning edge against Sony, because so many Playstation exclusive games could be played on Xbox right now (SDvR2007, GTAIV, Final Fantasy), and the fact that by the time PS3 comes out with at least $500 cost for the system, Microsoft could drop the price enough to entice consumers to purchase the 360 instead of the PS3...

so i was looking forward to the ps3 but i refuse to buy it at 600 bucks. they must be crazy, i can built a pc for that. double that and you got a kick ass pc that can run anything better than the ps3 can anyway. 600 bucks on something that will be easily outdated by a pc with in half a year is just crazy.

Not quite. The PS3 will jump out ahead in hardware performance, but the PC isn't far behind. Nvidia replaced the GeForce 6800 Ultra with the much more powerful GeForce 7800 GTX last summer. It turns out that the RSX and GeForce 7800 GTX share a similar architecture, but the RSX is still slightly faster. Nvidia has since released its GeForce 7900 GTX refresh part, but the PlayStation 3 still has an advantage in that the entire system is built specifically for gaming instead of general processing.
Not to mention that a GeForce 7900 GTX costs $530-$600 retail and on ebay. A blu-ray disc holds 54 gb, which is more than my HD in this computer holds.

600 bucks for what playstation 3 offers is totally fucking cheap imo. Great investment.

I wish I had that much money right now.
Sadly enough, I am actually gonna save up to try and get one. My mother would cry if she heard a grown ass guy like me spend that much money on a game system. Well, she doesnt really have to know since I dont live with her so I guess its not that bad.

How can you be complaining about AU$600. I'm so glad that it's not more expensive.
Wed May 17, 2006 5:01 pm
Lol are you crazy? It is $600USD which is easily $784 which is good
Edit: when PS2 came out it was $750.... so you have to add GST to 784 so its 850, I expect it to go up to $900AUD.
Wed May 17, 2006 5:17 pm
I heard it was $600AU. Maybe they got it mixed up between USD and AU.
In any case, I will still be getting one.
EDIT: If you click on the link below it will tell you the suggested retail prices and I can tell you the 60GB one ($600US) is more expensive than you had said.

I know there's gonna be alot bitching about the price...but to this end i have 3 words: get a job. The price is fair considering we'll be getting a console that will be in it's prime for atleast 5 years after it's launch. A top of the line pc video card alone is $500 bucks. Not to mention the upgrades to ram and processing power one would have to purchase.
so true.
plus, 20 gigs is A LOT of space... what could you possibly use 60 gigs of space for? just curious... I was thinking of getting the 20 gigs when it comes out...

wow I can't imagine the PS2 worth that much... I tihnk it was $300 USD when it first came out, which converts to about $400 Australian dollars.
EDIT: Remember when the Super Nintendo was like $125?? um yeah. that's just funny to think how much consoles are nowadays. come to think of it, most of the people on this forum don't even remember the Super Nintendo in its prime.

Yeah, I still don't know which one I'll be getting if the price is $1000 Australian. Most probably I will choose the 20GB if the price is that high.

The Australian dollar is worth way more now than it was 5 years ago....

ah ok... that makes sense. I don't really keep up with the exchange rates and the strength of the dollar

Yeah, but that was sometime after it came out. It was $200 for a long time, I think I got mine at $175 ON SALE. It was $250 in Japan though on release. And it came with Super Mario World...and no moving parts.
And that's 15 years ago. I wonder what the inflation since then has been. Assuming 3%, that's $312 today.

Ok, I've added a new article and a new trailer. Trailer is pretty cool.
Hope you watch it

Added some more stuff. It is pretty old so I made a new section.

You didn't even link the preview of Eight Days in your first post

As if that isn't a game to look forward too? Could be the GTA alternate until the new one comes out..

I'm not a big fan of consoles, but if I decided to buy one, it wouldn't be PS3. X-Box will be out for quite a while when Sony starts selling PS3, so it will already have an established fan base, working Live system and plethora of games to chose from. PS3 doesn't really have anything on X-Box. It's gonna be noticably more expensive and graphics are in the range of Microsoft's console, so if you aren't a FF or GT freak, you don't exactly have a reason to choose it over X-Box.

only reason i bought the ps2 was for gta, it will be the only reason i end up paying that much for a ps3.

Lol? Why paying 600$ for a game you can play 1/2 year later on PC?
Sat May 20, 2006 8:56 am
i am a very impatient person, no other way to explain it. its like paying 10 bucks to see a movie i could just rent for less than half that amount a year later.
