It's not even a proper movie. Just 3 episodes jammed together but it was still entertaining as hell
Wed Apr 05, 2006 1:38 am
Its a movie, they are making 2 more according to the tv episode guide.

If you're talking about Family Guy. Yes, it was a movie. It came out on DVD. I was talking about the content. It was merely 3 episodes made to one movie. I don't think the creators would deny it. Even reviews say so.

I thought there was going to be a Futurama movie first, in the hopes that it would bring back the Futurama franchise. I guess maybe that idea is dead now? Sad.

I would much prefer a Futurama movie.

can't wait to download it

They're supposed to be releasing some new Futurama eps on DVD though, perhaps if those sell well the series will be picked up again a la Family Guy.

I heard about them making a simpsons film a couple of years ago and they were saying it would take years to make - glad they're making it since of always been a big fan of the simpsons
Tue Apr 11, 2006 1:33 am
I heard on "Show biz show with david spade" on comedy central lastnight that this is a hoax.
Tue Apr 11, 2006 7:10 am
The trailer was intended as an April Fool's day prank?
Tue Apr 11, 2006 12:11 pm
It's supposedly confirmed by the producers and several sources. It could be a hoax but they're taking it a long way if it is.
Tue Apr 11, 2006 3:43 pm
but they're taking it a long way if it is.
yeah
too far, and they'll get so much mail they'll have to face the guilt and end up making it
Tue Apr 11, 2006 8:38 pm
Somehow, I think if this was an April Fool's joke reputable sources would have shot it down by now and the teaser trailer would've been pulled. But you never know.
Wed Apr 12, 2006 5:38 pm
I hope they go more retro with their jokes and dont turn it into the new style of Simpsons with its random jokes and overdose of Homer jokes(they really abuse DOH these days).
The movie is due for release next year, July something so theirs plenty of time.

Agreed; even though I'm still a fan and like the new eps no question the older style of humour would be much better for the movie. Most of my favourites are in Seasons 2-9, frequently nominated as the show's "golden era". If Matt Groening and James L. Brooks are significantly involved, we might get our wish.
Thu Apr 13, 2006 9:35 am
I think they will be greatly invovled seeing as how this is the first Simpsons movie.
Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:43 am
Perhaps. We can be sure that Sam Simon won't be involved though, since he hasn't been involved since the fourth season on somewhat bad terms.

Hopefully and I also hope they select a good cast for guest appeareances since Im sure the movie is likely to feature countless guest appereances and probably have the villain of the movie(Im guessing it will be a Homer beats bad guy storyline) with a big name star voicing him, just hope its not Steve Martin or Seinfeld.
A link to checkout, I doubt Yahoo movies would post it up if it was a hoax specially since its way past April 1st.

Hank Scorpio, now that was a awesome episode.

Yes, it would seem we're beyond hoax territory...though perhaps not quite out of cruel hoax territory just yet.
Hopefully the regular/recurring guests will reprise their roles (Joe Mantegna as Fat Tony, Marcia Wallace as Mrs Krabappel, etc) and maybe a couple of other guests. I think it would be a mistake to load up the movie with guests though, I think a stronger plot could be developed using the established characters.

yeah there was an add on tv aswell

so were looking good

Cartoon to Movie adaptions specially when its known for guests or is a big time hit tends to have a poor storyline or simple one when it comes to making one for the big screen. My feeling is that it will be loaded with special guests but I just hope they choose an ideal bunch that were popular in their respective times on The Simpsons.
I too do hope they use the original characters mostly and don't go on an overdose of special guests but I think sometimes the bigger names you have the more sales you get although Im not sure if Groening is going to play the role of sellout. I hope they make a good job on this movie and not make it an endless pit of "DOH", "HaHa" and "Excellent".
