Most Memorable/Favorite Jordans

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

but hey i guess it's not cool and people that do collect jordans are freaks since you don't do it

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most of the shoes people listed, they don't even own. Hence my agreeing with the freak comment. Collecting shoes is one thing, but just knowing alot about shoes without actually having them is a bit strange in my opinion.

i think you're the one being strange and close minded

knowing a lot about a "product" but not collecting it/owning it is a very common thing, at least in Chicago. to name a few: Cars, stereo systems, tvs, cpus, cell phones, tools, pets, the list can go on and on. even beverages lol

Of course you do. Your forum existance consists of nothing but disagreeing with popular trends. Hell, if someone else hadn't said "this shoe thing is kinda weird" you probably would have.

Get off my nuts

Right... and you don't think that's weird at all? I guess I agree now, you've convinced me. Excuse me while I go and admire my imaginary stamp collection.

it's unfortunate having an opinion and actually having something legit to back it up here is frowned upon and actually mocked

i don't see anything weird about knowing a lot about something but not owning it. I'm into electronics, specifically Tv's/dvds/receivers. I own only a obsilete projection TV with an obsilete digital receiver but boy would I love to get that 50" plasma, wallmount style, with the receiver with the latest digital sound quality, etc.. I could go more into the specs but that's too weird for you.

I'll probably eventually get a flat screen but nothing that fancy.

Maybe you've never seen something on TV, at a store, magazine, and wished you could get it but probably won't?

call me whatever, be saracastic, whatever. but i'm not going to be a jerk just because you don't agree with me

You didn't think your smart ass comments about people being close minded were signs of being a jerk? Fair enough.

they are not smart ass comments. you said it's weird to know a lot about shoes but not own it. that is being close minded because as i mentioned, it's common for people, at least around here, to know about a product but not own it. not with just shoes, but a variety things. i provided many examples

but whatever. there was no need to get defensive over it

So by your reasoning if ritualistic virgin slaughtering is common for people around here, it's not weird. If you think it's weird, you're close minded. Do you think anything on Earth is weird? Because surely everything is common somewhere...

The 'freaky' part about being knowledgable about the Air Jordans is the fact that people are able to associate shoes in Roman numerals such as Air Jordan III, Air Jordan IV, Air Jordan V, Air Jordan VI, Air Jordan VII, Air Jordan X, Air Jordan XI, Air Jordan XII, Air Jordan XVIII, Air Jordan XIX, Air Jordan XX, and Air Jordan XXI with all the colors.

Nothing wrong with that.

I only own the IV and XVIII, so I can't be considered as a collector. plus I want to wear the shoes I buy, unlike most of the so called collectors

Jae, how is it strange to not be a collector and know much about stuff like that?
I know dudes who know all these details about cars (like engine power, sec. to 100 KM/PH, etc.) and I don't think they own them either.

I'm assuming those guys actually have cars, work with cars or have worked with cars.. if not then yeah I'd see that as weird.

I don't see collecting, or knowing stuff about things as weird... but sort of obsessing over things you don't have or don't have access to I see as strange.

i've only ever owned 3 pairs - the VII's (olmypic version), the III's, and the IV's. mind you these fuckers were not as expensive back in the day, so you won't see me wearing these now. i only stick to some casual adidas now. i don't like being flashy and all. i'm a shirt, jeans, runners kinda guy.

That's the way Jordans have been released with roman numerals. When a Jordan released, you usually saw it say something like Air Jordan III or Air Jordan IV. That's why everyone names in that way. My brother knows alot of about cars, but he is no mechanic. His hobby is cars and Mustangs in particular, he can tell me so much about a Mustang, but sometime I don't even know what the hell he talking about but I don' think he is weird because he know alot about them because I know he has Mustang books and things like that to read about them.

I have a cat and my cat is black and my cat likes to eat cat food and my cat is named Darkie because he's black and my cat is funny because my cat likes to sit down and my cat chases mice because he's a cat and that's what cats do.

Anyways the moral to this story is, it doesn't matter whether or not anyone else finds it weird, I do. I'm not the one who does it, so that in itself doesn't matter either.

I think it's a different way of associating it. For example, you can say a Mustang has 300 hp, the association is with 'Mustang.' Then you have a Matrix at 130 hp, the association is with 'Matrix.' Mustang and Matrix are easily distinguishable.

With Air Jordan's, the only thing that distinguishes them are Roman numerals. I find it interesting how people can distinguish a Jordan XIV with a III and a XXI.

The reason why is because all Jordans aren't made the same. Each Jordan has a different meaning to it for example, the Jordan XIV was symbolized after MJ's favorite model of car which is the Ferrari which is why it has that Ferrari type Jordan symbol on the shoe.

Now if you look at all of those shoes I-XXI, you will see that each shoe is different from the other. It's not like its the same type of shoe coming out each year. I could go all day explaining the differentials between each shoe and its special meaning to them and thats the main reason people can distinguish them by different roman numerals.

That's because the FCC doesn't allow sale of weed and other prohibited drugs on TV. (N)
