Is NLSC a waste of time for students?

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I'm not at school anymore, so i can visit here as much as i want! Kiss my balls freedom fighters!

Last year when school was on though, i often allowed myself to choose internet/nlsc over homework. I'm not sure if it effected my final score or not, but i AM working in a factory.

Disclaimer: The factory job has nothing to do with my final score, since i'm taking a year off before uni anyway, i would've done a job like this even if my score was perfect as i needed a good paying job through the course of the year until uni hits.

When I joined NLSC, I was addicted to it. Seriously, It was fun posting my dynasty and everything, and then I would be up till 6am on the site. I still spend about an hour or 2 on NLSC every day.

it sure is a waste of time... ive got huge tests coming up and i really need to study but nooooo im on here -.-

anthony15, if you seriously think homework is a waste of time you must be under 16. Once the harder school years start coming, you need to do homework to stay on top of things. When it comes to school, excellence is the new average.

Yes, i'm under 16. Well as the school years start coming, in our school we'll have less classes. Juniors nad Seniors only have 5 classes. Besides, I only have 1 honor class, none AP.

i guess im a 'senior' right now (last year of highschool) and even with only 5 classes homework still needs to be done.

i know what your saying though, before this year i thought homework was just stupid, but it all makes sense now

Waste of time? I don't know. I'm not one to judge, I'm one of those guys who does really well in school without putting any effort in to my work. I hardly ever have homework, and when I do I either do it during class after the lesson or at lunch (I have a 75 min lunch). That said, I probably spend too much time here - actually I know I do, I've been banned from my PC for being on too much - but it all comes back to me having nothing to do way out here in the country. :|

EDIT: I've got more. About the English thing, being here's improved my writing skills, my proof-reading skills but most of all my typing. I've gotten real good at typing quickly and accurately, except for the q and the z ... :x

I get a lot of my work done at lunch too, but our lunch is a a mere 40 minutes. With a 75 minute lunch I could go home if I had to (but there would be more walking time than at home time), but I could also get soooo much done.

Yeah, we've got 1800 kids at my school so there's 3 different lunch periods, hence my lunch is someone else's class so I get 75 min off.

So far this year has been one of my easiest. If I'm enjoying a class I have no problem doing homework or whatever to keep on top of things. Math, my teacher sucks and that class bores the hell out of me because of it. So if I go to do homework I just get bored instantly. Same with English and freakin' Macbeth. On the other hand my teachers in Chem and Physics are great and I pay attention a lot more and do more homework (even though it comes to me much easier.) It's no coincidence that I have the best mark in both classes.

One thing that helps is that you get to choose more of your courses as you get older, therefore you're automatically more interested in the course. I think that's all that's going to carry me through university. I've taken a look at the courses I'd probably take first year and they seem pretty good.

I know I just posted about this, but a new thought came to mind. I think part of the 'getting easier' comes from getting used to the high school atmosphere and knowing what to focus on and how to get stuff done. For most of my classes I know exactly what I have to do, to do well. That way time isn't wasted on uninmportant things. I know that if the math homework is question 1-10 with an a, b, c, and d for all of them, then I can do just the a and d's or something and I'll be fine. One question I might just do a, another I might do all 4.

That might be it. I find it a lot easier that they don't check homework, it lets me do what I need to/what I don't need to do to do well. It does save time and makes more time for other homework. On the flipside, there's classes like English or Religion where there is no right answer, it's just your opinion. It usually takes me longer to do that because I have to think  . I hate that kind of class. I've found a way around it though; if the question asks you to do something, like explain why Bob went to Florida, I just write 'No' and move on.

Wow, I said 'to do' twice in a row.

Boo to American high schools.

Anyways, NLSC is destroying my life. :(

For example, I have a super-massive huge presentation to make tomorrow yet I sit here posting. Am I a loser or what?

Anyone that has taken careers and civis, anyone else think it is pointless to take careers in the second semester if you select them the first week of second semester already anyways? :x

^^ I have it 2nd semester and I haven't done anything career related yet, I think my school saves it for Careers class. It would be pointless to do that, though. :?

Most of my classes don't even check the homework, so I can literally write song lyrics on my homework and get full credit.
