Promises for Lent?

I don't know what to give up for Lent, all I know is that I couldn't eat meat today.

I'm Eastern Europe Orthodox, we don't have this holiday!

Yes , we do, it's 'The Great Fast'. Although almost nobody actually fasts for 40 days, and the promises thing is not part of our tradition.

Well, yeah. As, I know, in Russia people don't eat meat for 40 days. I've never done that (40 days w/o meat is impossible for me). Only religious ppl in Russia celebrate that.

We had to do that on Ash Wednesday. I had to eat Quiche'

Do they have to fast meat during 'Lent' as well?

I can only not eat meat on Fridays during Lent, plus Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday and Easter Saturday. That may just be my family though.

I can barely do it for one day. And I forgot too, I had ribs for dinner.

I had a meat pie, and a chicken schnizel for lunch that day... totally forgot about ash wednesday .. haha

yeah....my grades picked up, i played more basketball and had a lot more free time. Kind of hard though late at night when theres nothing to do though.

Right now with my busy schedule i only watch Sth Park and NBA.
