That's actually not the entire thread though, they got to 1,000 but kept going strong after that. There was also another incarnation, two I believe "I cannot believe..." part 2 and 3, and some corny spin offs that people didn't really take to.

Those spinoffs were pretty weak and died quickly. The first thread happened organically, growing out of the original poster getting upset that people disagreed with his assertion KG was a point guard. The others featured a couple of good parodies but the spirit wasn't there.

But even though it was spam, it was good natured spam as the thread went through countless different conversations. Also it was contained, so it was a "controlled spamfest".
