In no particular order: Godfather Part II., Garden State, Blade Runner, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Se7en, Requiem for a Dream, Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Full Metal Jacket, 12 Monkeys, After the Sunset, Clockwork Orange, Elephant Man, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Trainspotting, Life of Brian, The Holy Grail, Adaptation., Great Expextations (the one with Gwyneth Paltrow), Howards End, The Remains of the Day, Rocky... I would be unfair to sort them, cause I enjoy all of them but every single one in a different way.

Edit: added Rocky.

I forgot my good-mood movies , the ones that make me appreciate life.

It's a Beautiful Life
The War

thats all I can think of right now . Anyways , I heard the movie City of God was good as hell . Little Kid gangs or something are in it and shit. I'm going to rent it next weekend . I'm looking foward to see Little Man_hattan . (i'm a emotional movie viewer.)

Anyone here get a chance to see Antwone Fisher or Ray?? Those 2 movies are excellent

I don't have a list, but I'm a little surprised that Hoosiers and Rocky were nowhere to be seen here or on the imdb list. Hoosiers, maybe, because it's a basketball flick (speaking of which, you'd think someone would have mentioned Hoop Dreams, especially on this board), but Rocky? Rocky was a cultural phenomenon, and yet, no one seems to mention it.

Preposterous.

I'm not the biggest movie guy out there so I haven't seen Rocky.

There's some real lame lists here

Well they are your personal favourite.... Sometimes other people prefer other movies over others. Sorry to disappoint and disagree with your almighty opinion.

Just because it was a cultural phenomenon, doesn't mean it's one of my favorite movies, right? One of my favorite movies is the Jackal, it's not one of your favorites, does that make it preposterous?

Your post was a bit preposterous. Just because a movie was a cultural phenomenon doesn't mean I have to like it.

both were pretty good. Actually didn't hear about Clockwork until college. My English teacher made us watch it and it didn't disappoint. Both are more or less thinking movies (Clockwork not as much but still...). I think only a few people I know like these movies. They either don't like old movies or they only like no-brainer movies lol

And that's a shame. Kubrick is one of the best directors of all time (for me, he is with no doubt the best) and most people hadn't even heard of him.

My point was, considering that Rocky is one the best sports movies of all time, and that it won the Oscar for Best Movie when it came out, and spawned 3 sequels, you would think that at least one person on this board (not you necessarily, Jackal) would have mentioned it, or it would have made the 250 list on IMDb. Really, Pirates of the Caribbean makes that list and Rocky doesn't? Are you serious?

It's not always about you, Jackal.

That's a good movie. I'd highly recommend anyone who enjoys movies like The Godfather, Blow, Requiem For A Dream, etc. to watch this one.

Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels

One of my personal favorites too, I think everyone should watch this movie. Same with Snatch.

Wasn't that like 4 sequels?

Add "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", "The Shawshank Redemption" and "A Clockwork Orange" to Cy's list, and you've got mine. (H)

What if every person on this board just forgot about it? Does that give you reason to call everyones post (not mine in paticuliar) perposterous? I mean there are probably another 10 movies that haven't made the IMDB list or ours for that matter, but to go to lenghts to call all the lists you see here perposterous based on the fact we didn't add Rocky is just stupid. I mean, wow, we forogt Rocky!omg!11one!!!

You've got to take into account that there are a lot of yuppies on the internet who just vote for randomness, so PotC making it to IMDB's list shouldn't be a big deal. I mean, it has Finding Nemo on it. It has Toy Story on it. It's kind of logical people that actually like movies would take Rocky over all three of the above mentioned movies.

I just felt you went a tad far with the prepesterous comment. We just forgot. We're allowed to do that.

It's not always about you, Jackal.

I was using myself as an example given I can't speak for everyone. That's why I said I liked some movies more than Rocky. I didn't mean to make it look like your post was directed towards me, I was just using myself as an example.

Anyways, since I always think everything is about me, I'll just proceed to shutup. Tis my new approach.

Eugene, you are God since you remembered Rocky & I didn't. I am preposterous.

Friday Night Lights

Godfather series
Scarface
Above the Rim
Dogma

Mon Oct 03, 2005 5:12 am

Don't be sorry, I enjoyed the movie immensely and is one of my favorites, just forgot about it & it was "preposterous".

Btw, 2 fast 2 furious & Harold & Kumar are in my opinion two of the worst movies in their respective genres.

Want stupidly funny? Watch Napoleon Dynamite. Gosh, you guys are such IDIOTS! :x

Mon Oct 03, 2005 5:35 am

HAHAHAHAHHA!

Mon Oct 03, 2005 2:51 pm

wow there are a lot of great movies. not so much recently

in no particular order

swingers
donnie darko
american psycho
goodfellas
pulp fiction
chasing amy
breakfast club
enter the dragon
star wars
boys 'n the hood
trainspotting
brianna loves jenna

now these next few aren't necessarily great movies but i really enjoyed them while growing up:
weird science
transformers the movie
just one of the guys
the warriors
fletch
the lost boys
eddie murphy: raw
karate kid
indiana jones & the temple of doom

rocky is a great movie. one of the best sports movies of all time but for me not on my all time favorite. but if it's on tV, i can't help but watch it hehe

i agree the kubrick movies are very intelligent and his style is quite original. though movies like dr. strangelove was set during a time period i didn't live to see. i did try to find out what was going on during that time to understand more the message kubrick was trying to convey. but i probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as say someone who lived during that time. same with clockwork orange.

i have to give special props out to animal house. it was a groundbreaking comedy that gave birth to movies like porky's, american pie, etc
