Here in Australia, consoles generally debut with high price tags. $800 is a good estimate of the price most of the next generation consoles will be when they first hit the Australian market.

there goes my answer null.....heheh laptops may ot play games from the consoles...but they are worth the hefty price tag...if i have 800$ i will invest in a laptop rather than a console (Y)

I say wait for a few years after it's debut when buying a console so better games are available since the developers would get used to the new systems and it'll be a lot cheaper as well. But of course a laptop would be great as long as it packs enough hardware to run the newer games.
