I had no idea superman was involved! Maybe i should watch...

Ye man. My friends told me the girl was named Lois Lane and Lex Luther. Pretty crazy.

Sat Feb 04, 2006 8:47 am

i watche the show a couple times, seems to goody goody to me, everyones tooooo nice (unless theyre affected by some crazy meteor rock or something), but louis lane is a babe, there was an episode where she had to become a stripper, and wow  she look good

Mini-grave digging, I'm finally on par with the USA. A few notes:

- The Lex transformation has been fantastic. I don't think I've ever seen a character arc on a TV show being portrayed so well. I went from hating the fact that him and Clark were drifting apart, to wanting Clark to foil all of his plans in the space of about 5 episodes... it was such a smooth transition.

- The 100th episode, I thought Lana was going to die... then when she did, in the first 5 minutes, I figured it wasn't quite that real. I also found it interesting that they sort of played up to Lois potentially dying... because it was supposed to be someone Clark loved, and while he and Lois don't really get along we all know what happens in the future.

- I hated the whole Clark revealing his powers to Lana thing... it was just badly done, taking her to that ice palace and then doing all of that weird shit... I honestly thought it was a dream sequence, that's how corny and predictable it was. He's been wanting to tell her since season 1, surely they'd do a better job of the revelation then that. Then again, since he went back in time she still doesn't know, so who knows how it'll play out.

- I'm really not sure how they can keep the Kent dynamic without Jonothan. For some reason, Clark and his mum seem a bit awkward and boring together. Obviously if Lionel Luther gets involved it'll become more interesting, especially since he seems to know Clark's secret.

- Chloe has lost the weight, I think she looks better at the moment then she has in the entire shows duration... not to mention that she's constantly wearing low cut tops now, I don't know what's up with that but still. Also interesting that her and Clark were married in the "Lexmas" episode, then again Jonothan Kent was still alive.

- I'm sick to death of "meteor freaks".

- I liked the Aqua episode... featuring the future Aquaman.. with his colourful costume and such, cool episode. He and Clark team up in the comics, I wonder if that'd cause friction with Lois... since they didn't really "break up", they still liked each other when he left. Also, I read this on wikipedia, at the end of the episode Aquaman says to Clark "maybe we can form a junior lifesaving association" and Clark goes "I don't think I'm quite ready for the JLA"... JLA = Justice League of America.

As I said, I'm really too obsessed with this show.

Also, am I the only one who watches every episode thinking "Just show (whoever the character may be) your powers, it'd be cool and nothing bad would happen" then like 2 episodes later it's like "ohh.. so that's why you didn't show them".

BUMP. (i'm going to dig up The OC thread too in a second)

- don't read ahead if you haven't seen the finale for season 5; potential spoilers -

sorry, for digging up an old topic, but i just finally caught up to all the episodes up to season 5. WOW. this show is fucking amazing, i'm pissed at myself for not finding it sooner considering it's filmed in my hometown of vancouver.

i thought the season finale was unreal. you could tell the theme for next year's show is going to be different -- it's gonna get a whole lot darker. the shot of "lex" and lana on top of the daily planet was fantastic. flames and chaos everywhere. whoever mugged and raped chloe is a lucky guy.

now just little notes of my own:

- when the hell is clark going to tell lana his secret? 5 seasons already and he hasn't come clean. why? lana already told him she doesn't give a shit if he's different, and it's not like his dad (jor el) is going to put away anyone else since jonathan took the fall.

- the episode where they ripped off the Saw series was pretty good. i was like "ah what the fuck" at first, but john glover stole the show in that episode. he's my favorite actor on smallville behind michael rosenbaum

- lois is delicious.

- i wonder what new superhero or DC character is going to emerge next season. so far we've had perry white (clark kent's future boss at the daily planet), the flash, and aquaman (horrible actor). get the martian manhunter to save him from the phantom zone! a bruce wayne cameo would be sweet though

- i can't wait for season 6. i always see them filming around town but i never pay attention to it, i should step up my stalker game and find kristin kreuk.

Fri May 19, 2006 8:34 pm

- I don't think he will now, she's off with Lex

- Yeah the Saw thing was bothering me too, until Clark caught the elevator thing. That was pretty sweet.

- From what I've read, the Martian Manhunter is all but confirmed. The producers have said they want Bruce Wayne aswell, but they can't think of a scenario to insert him into.

- They've just been signed on to The CW or whatever it is, so season 6 starts in September (Y)

Fri May 19, 2006 8:45 pm

she better find out his powers this season. i can't see her staying bad forever, she'll probably catch him in the act and finally have a revelation as to how she's had her life saved all these times.

man i can't believe i missed out on this show for 5 years, i just started watching it from season 1 two months ago.

my favorite episode has to be 4.01; the introduction of lois' character. i don't know why, but the dialogue between clark and lois was electrifying when i watched it for the first time

kal-el: who are you?
lois: lois. lois lane

:o

and to add on, some possible spoilers for season 6:

Al Gough reveals: The theme [of Season 6] is the rise of Lex Luthor. You're definitely going to see the more ruthless Lex Luthor you know from the comic books really start to emerge. The season will also be about the corruption of good — not only Lana, but Martha. Will she get involved with Lionel? And when Clark does come back from the Phantom Zone, what will it have done to him? We never really explored what happens to somebody inside the Phantom Zone, which is really the ultimate incarceration. [...] The idea was that on Krypton — and we'd like to explore some of this in Season 6 — Zod was the ultimate terrorist. He and Jor-El were once friends and became enemies. As a result, there was a breakaway. It has more to do with political intrigue rather than that the planet started spinning too close to the sun, which has always sort of been the traditional story.

Well I also heard rumors and that Bruce would be passing through on "business." But I don't know if I'd want to throw another character in there, especially since a young Bruce Wayne isn't as appealing as a young Clark Kent. I also heard those rumors were an April Fool's joke too.

But the season finale was :o . LA looked like the Lakers had just won the NBA Finals again. I wonder how they'll give us a believable transition between Clark Kent and Superman, if they get that far. It would be pretty stupid to see Clark in a superman uniform and people not recognizing him.

a few randomn thoughts about the finale and last few episodes: SPOLIERS...

Lana is such an idiot. the last few episodes showed how selfish, shallow, and stupid she is. she knows how deceitful Lex can be and she still let herself be manipulated. Clark has saved her countless amount of times yet when Lex does it once, her pussy got so wet and she became pussy whipped. Kristin Kruek has said on interviews how she likes how her character is supposed be an independent woman yet every damn season she always dating some idiot. and lastly, Lana's life has been tramatized by tragedy and while another one is happening in Smallville, all she can think of is herself and this love she thinks she feels for Lex.

i don't see her or Chloe lasting much longer no the show. Lana will probably hang on longer so the writers can milk this Lex stealing Clark's GF thing.

Chloe more or less has been reduced to the lesbian best friend. even though we all know she has a crush on Clark, her role this past season has been shit- all she has been doing is playing the hi-tech geek assisting Clark on his rescue missions. i believe they will kill her off so the show can start developing the Louis and Clark relationship. there were a few hints about this when Louis was talking to Martha

one thing that does have me confused is Lionel Luther. Can he be trusted???? in the last few episodes, he's been trying to protect Clark and has acted as his father figure. But in the past seasons, every time you think he's genuinely turned for the good, something happens and he's back to being sinister

lol when are Louis and Clark going to start taking classes in Journalism?? my guess what starts them down that path is Chloe's death

as far as Clark telling his secret to Lana- i don't think it's a big deal anymore since Clark already has decided that Lana isn't the one. to me, it would be a closure thing for the fans. I hope the writers will try not to still milk this damn storyline. just tell the dumb bitch you have powers. Kristin Kruek's reaction will be her forehead getting wrinkly lol and her bitching

so far Lex's "path to darkness" has been great. I hope the writers don't fuck it up next season and make it Anakin Skywalker like

Yeah same here, I have no idea whether he can trust him or not. Everyone has him pegged as the villain but you really can't tell anymore. I mean he encouraged Clark to kill Lex/Zod, but was that out of fatherly guidance or because he wants control of Luthorcorp. I guess we'll find out more next season, I have a feeling for whatever reason he'll become "good", and Lex will kill him at some point.

Sat May 20, 2006 10:51 pm

yeh i think the writers have done a great job with this subplot. probably what adds to it is that the guy who portrays Lionel is the best actor on the show (tied with Michael Rosenbaum if you want to be argumentative)

Sat May 20, 2006 11:07 pm

They had to do something because I don't think the Martha character is strong enough to cover for Johnathan, but injecting Lionel as a father figure has definitely worked. I read somewhere Michael Rosenbaum was thinking of leaving or something like that, that would suck horribly. They'd obviously have to replace him with another actor (who would not be as good), and that could be a bit of shark jumping (N)

Sat May 20, 2006 11:37 pm

yeh i agree that would suck ass. Lex's character and Rosenbaum portrayal of him are arguably the most interesting aspects of the show.

true- Martha Kent is pretty weak. the only time she seems interesting is when she is interacting with Louis or Lana

Sun May 21, 2006 5:28 am

they need to develop the clark/lois storyline. i'm so sick of chloe/clark, lana/clark; just move on already, yargh.

Mon Oct 02, 2006 2:14 am

so anyone catch the season premiere? a lot of loose ends were tied up...

ms. Kruek was looking pretty good... less tired looking hehe

Mon Oct 02, 2006 3:54 am

i never knew this thread excisted! darn i missed out :(
i used to watch this alot, i really liked this show, but i started papers so i had to stop watching this. i dont know if its still on or not.

Mon Oct 02, 2006 4:04 am

I watch some episodes, but can someone explain this to me?

Clark meets Lois in Smallville, but somehow forgets her in the future(movies)? How come Clark and Lex know each other but in the movies, they just met for the first time?

Does Smallville have any connection to the movies or is it a whole different story with just the basics for Superman in it.

Mon Oct 02, 2006 4:16 am

I watched the season premiere. I used to watch it all the time but i've missed out on like a whole season and a half. I started watching and it was pretty good.

Mon Oct 02, 2006 2:37 pm

season premiere was pretty good. my only gripe about it was how easy it was for clark to escape the phantom zone. so just in case he gets thrown in there one more time, he just has to find the gate and make himself bleed, lol.

im in love with erica durance, that chick is so fucking hot.

the writers have stayed faithful to some aspects of the comic & movie adaptation... and a lot of times they haven't. i guess that's the simplest way to explain it hehe.. personally i don't mind them deviating from the original.. makes it interesting

yeh i thought the escape thing was weak..

Erica Durance started looking pretty damn impressive since she played a stripper in that one episode. do a google search on her for "better' pics ;)

if you keep searching you should find some of her more interesting work before you she was on smallville ;)

i think it's pretty silly of the Smallville production team to recast the guy who is playing Jimmy Olsen since he already was on the show, playing that kid who temporarily received Clark's powers.

anywho- i'm happy for Chloe- she was getting pretty boring being the trusty lesbian like computer geek. IMO she's going to die in the season finale

they didn't recast the same guy. the guy that played the geek you're thinking about is shawn ashmore. the guy that's playing jimmy olsen is aaron ashmore; shawn's twin brother.

read a couple spoilers for this season and there's going to be an episode where clark, aquaman, cyborg and flash get together.. should be pretty sweet.
