Where I live, I really don't see any white on black racism. What I have seen is big rivalries between high schools between large groups of white or black kids against large groups of Indian/Arab kids. In my school, there was no problem with white and black kids being friends, and it was a pretty common thing. One thing that doesn't happen though is an Indian/Arab kids being friends with anyone thats not their race. Even when people try to be friendly with them, most of them have a certain arrogance that they are above everyone (and not just in marks). Last year there were two white guys who tried out for the cricket team, which for years has never had anyone who wasn't Indian/Arab, and within a week, both of them were cut. The reason was that one was beaten down by teammates in the locker room after a practice, and the other one was scared it would happen to him, so they didnt show up for the last couple tryouts.

I don't want to discriminate, but I think its ridiculous that a group of peope who feel like such a minority, decide to discriminate against the majority that has tried to accept them. I mean, its funny that in our yearbook, there were two and a half pages of kids with the last name "Khan" in the student list, but no one ever used racial slurs or treated them badly.

Its exactly like that at my school, Indiana/Arab people make up like half the school and they pretty much act just as you said. Ofcourse there are some who are cool but the rest are snobby assholes. I live about 2 hours away from Mississauga, so im not too far away from Kevin.

But I agree with certain points people have brought up, when some1 says racism. Everyone thinks of whites putting down blacks, but conversely the blacks usually do it more.

What i've learnt from the past is, even though we don't like it. We racial profile everyone if we don't know first hand experience of their background.

Fore instance, how often do you judge someone by first glance.( It takes a person 1minute to have a impression of someone ). Then down the line when you get to know them properly they are totally different. Some logic.

American History X is a movie that I recommend that you check out. It's a very good movie as you can check out the reviews. It talks a lot about racism and hatred.

There is a lot of Arab/Persian/East Indian people at my school and schools in the area that act the same way. Some of them are very nice and great guys, but at least half of them are always trying to be 'gangsta' and get violent for any reason.

To a lesser extent some of the Asian/Orientel people here are like that too. At a school that is about a 15 minute drive from my house a 13 year-old Asian guy slit someones throat ear to ear. 13 FUCKING YEARS OLD! And I knew the guy.

I live in a small, rural, hick town, and it's a very rare occurance to see anyone but a white person. However, when you do, it's really no different here, and I like that.

The worst racism we get here is when we go to basketball tournaments and a team will have one or two black guys, and we all go "oh no, we're going to lose, they have a black guy" But even that's a positive stereotype IMO, not a racial discrimination. And most people here are pretty comfortable with races anyway, as in if you went right up and pointed out that stereotype to a dude he would probably even find it funny himself.

I think I realized that I'm really not racist the day someone pointed out to me that this guy I had been talking to was black. When you are talking to someone and enjoy their personality, it doesn't matter what race they are - I didn't see a skin colour, I saw a person. And I never really noticed that they were black. It's too bad everyone can't be this way.

BTW, I thought France was the first country to abolish slavery. Maybe it was just the first Western country?

I believe part of the KKK's beliefs come from a passage in the bible that declares "night shall be seperate from day" or words to that effect, which they've interpreted in their own racist way. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of?
