From the preview it seemed like it would take place in the late 80's early 90's as they were running around in teh keddo seemed alot loke that 2Pac movie where he was Birdie and that other movie where he was the killer with 2 guns but one gun wasn't supposed to be there and that iother guy was scratching the records...Im gonna watch that move.

(Please spare me the 'greatest rapper of all time/his songs being artwork/meaning behind the songs' story)

Just read this on Yahoo

living in the east bay i know this story all too well. the guy did what every coach should do. what makes him so special? the kids on his team weren't doomed to fail. his locking the gym for a week didn't work miracles. the "coach" is a fraud that he exploited these kids for his own gain. he is a businessman, he loves the spotlight, and now this jerk is a millionaire. if you don't believe me than go to the contra costa times newspaper's web site and read the article from last week. players on that team don't even like him. the principal, teachers, and other coaches didn't like him. everyone who knows him says this was a cry for attention. his players said the lockout was the ONLY time he was concerned with their academics. they dismiss this movie as fiction and feel like he takes credit where it is not due. he punched his son in the face twice during games! Ken Carter says he doesn't care what these people think because "everyone loves coach carter and now they will know the story." many events in the movie are far from truth, say his ex-players. didn't see the movie but i recommend staying miles from this true hollywood tall tale. this guy is just an average businessman....er coach

They put out this same movie like 10 times a year. Friday Night Lights, Hardball, Remember the Titans, The Rookie etc etc etc. Same old movie.

this movie is gonna suck.....well I know theirs alotta Samuel J fans in here but he looks daft when he tries to be serious......only Denzel Washington, Mekhi Pheifer(spellcheck) & Omar Epps would suit roles like this....where u need to be hard knock and serious.....course the latter 2 r way too young....n Denzel prolly wouldnt have wanted to play another role similar to that of RTT.
plus we all know any movie a musician acts in sucks.....its a curse.

Pheifer isn't even a good actor, Epps is ok....Jackson kicks both their asses....SHAFT!!!! What about Morgan Freeman....that dude should do audio versions of books cos he's got the coolest voice, anyways, Freeman is a great actor

I opened up that coach carter website in a new tab (using firefox) and then I went to pause winamp and it didn't pause. I didn't know what was happening and I was going crazy. About 5 minutes later I found out the stupid tab was playing music. I was wondering what was happening to my precious Slick Rick. :?

I'll probably see this at some point.

JUST A REMINDER

MAKE SURE YOU POST 'SPOILER' IN BIG LETTERS AT THE TOP OF YOUR POST IF YOU PLAN ON POSTING KEY PARTS OF THE MOVIE!

Spoilers piss me off.

I liked the movie, but Ashanti is a baaaaaaaad actor. It was pretty good overall, but I think the roll of Coach C. would have been better suited for Denzel Washington.

It had a pretty good storyline since I find the true story quite inspiring. However, I must say I was quite disappointed with the basketball sequences. Every other play was an alley-oop (remember, this is highschool) and I don't recall a single missed field goal in the entire movie

Well thats what the movie says... From what i've read from many sources he isn't that guy who they portray in the movie. I've read from many sources that this guy punched his son in the head twice during a game (what a hero) but believe what you like...
