A few new ideas for the forum

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Are you guys doing it properly? If you click "Quote the last message", it doesn't come up until you press Submit or Preview. I'm using Avant Browser btw.

Although for a certain time would work to, not a certain post amount though...

Because that creates extra work when it's unnecessary, especially if people want to change their custom titles frequently (for fun or to celebrate certain occasions, for example).

All the functions of the quick reply are working fine for me, I'm not sure why you're encountering problems - I guess some browsers just have a problem with the script.

What's wrong with having the option to quote the last message?

I think that it should be considered a privilege to get a custom title, that's all.

And with the quick reply, when I use Mozilla Firefox it doesn't work, but in Internet Explorer everything works fine (y)

[edit]: I just noticed that when in quick reply you can click someones name and it will be pasted and made bold in your text... (y)

maybe i'm doing this wrong.... but we're supposed to select a part of a post and click "quote selected", right? well nothing shows up in the textbox when i click "quote selected" :lame: ?

i use firefox btw... havn't tried it with explorer yet...

What's wrong with having the option to quote the last message?

it feels a little redundant to use quotes when the post you're replying to is right above yours....
quote selected would be (Y) though as soon as it starts working for me...

idiot, just use Internet Explorer and it will work fine.
Like you said, just mark a text and it will be quoted; great feature.

I also feel that what's the use of having the Quote the last message when you can just select it and take Quote selected...
How often is it that you quote the entire message anyway? :?

Hey, I often quote the whole reply.

I can't use quick reply all that often, my color features aren't there. :x

maybe the 'quote selected' feature will work fine, but your computer will explode because Internet Explorer is a death trap.

all hail Firefox

I think the Happy Anniversary (this is why we should have spellcheck) hack is a good idea.

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1310
This hack removes the "Posts" field in viewtopic.
The reason I made this is because on my first forum, the members were immature and hard to control, and they started fighting and they said they were only their to get more posts and "status."

I got tired of this and removed the field.

Note: You can still see the post count in the memberlist and statistics, if you have that.

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1225
This hack allows your users to sort the topics in a forum by author, topic title, topic time, and last reply time (default sort) - ascending or descending. The default sort can be set for each forum in the forum management section of the Admin Control Panel.

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1801
This hack ensures that the user's name appears in "Users browsing this forum" (viewforum page).

Adding this hack will prevent a user from viewing a forum and seeing "Users browsing this forum: None."

This very simple hack does not affect the online users list refresh rate.

It requires PHP 4.0 or greater.

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1682
Adds a new field in the memberlist that displays the date that the user last visited on. "Never" will be displayed if the user has never logged in. Requires very few edits.

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/2044
This hack will make it so that a PM is send to every new user after they register.

[Edit]: One more that can prove to be usefull:
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1551
This is an advanced banning tool that allows you to ban people for a certain amount of time.

I would like to see a mod where we could see the top "post-per-day" posters, to see who spams around the most

I'd like to be able to edit and delete my polls in my dynasty thread.....

otherwise, it would be good if poll could stay up for a week and then close, and after the week you can put up a new poll.....

is this possible???
