When my mum told me, I didn't even know what the WTC was. I think it has been overblown due to its location, because lets face it, if it happened in say Egypt or Bolivia or something we wouldnt have all of the memorial things or ribbons etc etc

Sun Sep 12, 2004 3:24 am

It would be horrible and I'm sure they would fly their flag and stuff. Country shouldn't matter. They are all people and they got killed by some bastards who hate our country. They just went to work. Thats all.

Sun Sep 12, 2004 3:34 am

I don't care about in which country it happened. It was horrible, but so are many other things. People shouldn't forget that either.

Sun Sep 12, 2004 4:32 am

Nobody is, but this was a HUGE terrorist attack (biggest in recent history) so I think it should get a special rememberence.

Side Note: One of my cats just got hit by a car... some 9.11 huh?

Sun Sep 12, 2004 7:41 am

Rest In Peace to all victims. It was a horrible day. I remember when I heard and it didn't really hit me on how hard it was until I heard that America might go to war.

What sucks about it is that it could have been prevented. Bush received intelligence...

...I won't go into that because this thread is dedicated to the victims and there shouldn't be room for any debate in it.

Anyways, it sucks that it happend. But Rens is right about the fact that there are OTHER attacks. Shit like this happens in the Middle East everyday, but what made 9/11 so big is that it was America -- the "supreme" country -- that was hit.

Watch this

anyone else seen this video?

Sun Sep 12, 2004 8:58 am

yeah i've seen it.. the background music makes me want to crap my pants but that video definately makes me think about a lot of stuff.

where the hell did the plane go?

Sun Sep 12, 2004 9:06 am

How is a plane suppose to fly 530mph 2 feet aboove the ground? With no turbulence or wake over the interstate? Or the Interstate cameras haven't been released with pictures of the thing flying across....

What's up with that?

Sun Sep 12, 2004 9:33 am

The video wont work for me

go there and just read that stuff, it's the basic stuff from the movie.

Sun Sep 12, 2004 11:49 am

I'm confused.

Sun Sep 12, 2004 11:57 am

Here's a site that claims the Pentagon rumor is false...

Nicely said, Riot. I also send my condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives as a result of the 9/11 attack - it can't get any easier even as the years pass. And you're right about those who risked their lives without a second thought - it's a rare quality and a purely selfless act of bravery.

Sun Sep 12, 2004 1:54 pm

I read/seen on the news that 98% of Americans remember exactly what they were doing when they found out about the WTC.

It's sad to see this happen, but hopefully it won't happen again. Thanks to everyone who has helped rebuild, cleanup, etc.

Heart goes out to the families who lost someone in 9/11 and may God bless you all!

Sun Sep 12, 2004 2:34 pm

What was I doing when this happened? Sleeping.

I woke up and saw my mom watching TV, I'm like "Mom WTF are you Crying?" she was all shook "Planes ran into the WTC" I was like "Err....Ok...." then we watched it in school and I STILL didn't get it...and afte school every channel except CARTOON NETWORK (Which I hated then) was FILLED with the 9/11 Tragedy, Pissed me off...I was going to watch some Spongebob and all that and the motherfucking CBS is on, NOT EVEN MTV  Last year on 9/11 I wore a Black Wristband with the US Flag on it...and Right now I"m wearing a Red USA T-Shirt and some Red PJ Pants.

If I forget about this Tragedy, I'll forget my age  j/k

But yes sad day
.

Sun Sep 12, 2004 2:39 pm

Yeah the TV coverage pissed me off. I mean fair enough dedicating 2 days to it, but I think we had about 2 weeks of non stop tv coverage about 9/11 over here, and it didn't even bloody happen here! I think it just gave lazy producers a chance to replay the same shit over and over and over again

Mon Sep 13, 2004 9:38 pm

that day was really tragic I have to admit, but, did you ever wondered why the terrorists did that? I can't give a clear explanation, all the more as nothing can admit what they did, but the US government could have some responsibility in terrorists' hate towards the USA

Tue Sep 14, 2004 5:54 am

They hate our way of life. They hate Americans just because we are so free and what not. They believe women's heads should be covered (that is a minor thing but that kind of thing). They just have a general hate for the American culture and life style.

I was in school in shop working on the bandsaw when it came over the loud speakers for the teachers to turn on the tv sets. All of a sudden he came on the loud speaker (principle) which almost cost me to lose a finger...

They also have a hate for the counrty that funds their enemies. Terrorists did not watch tv one day and say, "you know, I can't stand how good that country has it. I know many other countries have the same freedoms, but I feel like killing the innocent people of that country to show them how bad we have it here."

In many other countries, for example Canada, the whole United Kingdom, Australia, even places like Russia or Japan now have the same freedoms that the States have, and they were not attacked. It's the policies of past and present U.S. governments that have created the hate for America, mostly the financial support given to the Palestinians in the ongoing war for the West Bank.

Don't get me wrong, it does not give them the right to do what they did, but if a major country in the world, like Canada or Australia decided to fund the Iraqis or the Taliban, don't you think most Americans would be pissed.

Tue Sep 14, 2004 6:58 am

Good point. And the only real reason people in the Middle East may hate countries like Australia is because of their involvement with the Americans in the past. They might despise the lifestyle of the USA, but not because of the actual lifestyle, but because it's the USA.

Tue Sep 14, 2004 7:19 am

I thought I read somwhere they hate the USA over Canada and stuff because we're "arrogant and un-muslim". That is so stupid. Correct me if I'm wrong...then again..I was quoting an article I read a couple months after we found out it was Bin Laden.

Tue Sep 14, 2004 9:53 am

We fund Israel. That's probably one of the many reasons they hate us, but the fact is, we support the small group of Jewish people in the Middle East, who use that money to kill Palestinians, who are Muslim(no need to get in an argument about this).

They may hate our culture, but it's not as if our culture is supreme in this world. They have reasons to hate our government. The whole Islamic world does. Sadly, in the Islamic world, there are terrorists who feel the need to kill innocent civilians.

Obviously, there's no real justification for terrorist attacks such as 9.11, but there is justification to hate. That's why there's terrorism, because people hate us. Upgrading security and whatnot isn't going to stop it, because they will find ways to get us. Not because they can, but because they want to.

Tue Sep 14, 2004 1:14 pm

Upgrading security and whatnot isn't going to stop it, because they will find ways to get us. Not because they can, but because they want to.

Security will make it a hell of a lot tougher; when all the extremists now die out, there will be a new generation of pricks waiting to kick our lazy american asses. The cycle continues. It will continue to do so for quite a while. That's why I say Carpe The Fucking Diem. You never know when it will be your last.
