ESPN NBA Basketball has new screens up.

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

It was the exact opposite. Trust me.

ESPN 2k4 graphics killed Live 04 but the ESPN pics always look bad, but the game looks great in motion. ESPN has way better gameplay than Live so far, but that might not be the case in 2005 but none of us can judge yet. These pics do look bad though, but don't expect the final game to look like that.

I'm still looking foward to both games. :D

you know at first i thought they had a great idea going. make a 40$ game but sell it for 20$, build your fan base up then come back next year at normal price and try to challenge love. sounded good to me. now i see they are only makeing a 20$ game and selling it for 20$. this will kill the series imo.

I don't think so. I'd buy it for $50.

I bought ESPN NFL 2K5 and I actually felt bad. It was worth way more than it's price.

Trust me. They're not selling it for $20 because it'll only be worth $20. If you look back at the ESPN 2K5 topic in the Live 2005 section, you'll see that people are saying that they'll buy it because it's so cheap. They'll buy Live, but they'll also find the $20 to buy ESPN.

It's like if Madden put out a real crap game and sold it for $50. People would still buy it because it's Madden.

Hope that puts things into perspective.

No it doesn't. Nobody can explain the no neck shaq or the 95' ol school fade on Prince. No matter what happens the game just isn't better than Live. FACE IT! I remember on the other espn games, Stromile Swift had a fade in every series and they never changed it. The thing is, Swift is bald head

Ya know what? I really don't give a fuck about some people's hairstyles. I really could care less about screenshots released THREE MONTHS BEFORE before the game comes out.

And I don't even know what game will be better. No one knows. So don't give me any crap about Live '05 being better because it's not even out yet. Hell, I might even buy it if it can get better ratings that ESPN. We'll just have to see.

you are right, no one knows what game will be better. all we have to go on is the listed features and info from people who have played them(thanks shane). now going by this info i gotta say that live is in the lead, but like you said nobody knows yet.

NBA Live has more options which makes it better imo. In dynasty if you get a player you can't change his number, shoes or anything like that. It's just boring. The dunks suck, because they go in slow-motion. The collisions are good though. The commentary sucks also. Too damn repetitive. In Live I could play a game right now and here something I haven't heard the whole year.

Isomotion is a cheapass rip off of freestyle and you can't even control what your doing. Damn, the crossover button and right analog do exactly the same thing! It pisses me off. :x

I agree with IsoMotion being completely useless. I just turn it off and use the B button for crossovers. But I'm not too crazy about this Freestyle Revolution that Live's had for the last two years. I don't like how their's separate buttons for layups and jumpshots. It's way too complicated. I just like things simple.

If you think Live's controls are too complicated its a god damn shame.

Think about it this way. In ESPN 2K4, Sega ditched all of the "under the basket" moves from 2K3 and went with that simple @ss shitty hook shot, which was reminiscent to the garbage ass hooke shot from NBA Live 2002, which people didn't like.

Simple Moves will in turn make simple gameplay which in turn makes shitty game.

They're not really too complicated but they could be done in a much simpler fashion. For instance, in ESPN you had the option between taking a dunk or a layup, holding down the R trigger for dunks(obviously only for players who can). It was the same for under the basket. You could dunk it or do that weak little hook shot they brought in.

I really just don't see the need for having a button for jumpshots and a button for layups. Not only is it more complicated, but it's unnecessary.

Also, I agree that the post moves sucked last year. Hopefully, that will be rectified.

Stromile didn't have a fade in 2k4, he was bald.

The Sega series always has better graphics than EA and it'll continue this year, there's a reason why it says "Work in Progress" on the picture.

Most of you are idiots except for GloveGuy.

Just because we are NBA Live fans doesn't mean we can't enjoy other NBA games too. I'm a live fan, always have been, always will be(unless they release crap, 2003 almost sent me over the edge... but it's a good thing i stayed for 2004 :D and esp. 2005... anyway..) But it's obvious that ESPN 2k4's graphics were leaps and bounds better than NBA Live's. You people can't be so biased. :? Honestly you can't say these screens almost look like a photo, because they do. Amazing graphics. Also ESPN's franchise mode was HEEEEEEEEEEAPS better than NBA Live's. so there. face it.

Meanwhile...

Nobody can explain the no neck shaq

I can, he is dunking. His arms are raised.
As for the other pic, he HAS a neck, it's just shorter because of the camera angle.

or the 95' ol school fade on Prince.

Who gives a shit?

P.s. Bring on Live05! :D Can't wait... *rubs hands together*

Because I once was a Live player. I was at this website downloading patches for my Live 2000 game four years ago, also contributing to the message boards. Now, I don't even venture into the NBA Live section, only posting in the bottom section of the forum. I also do post at the ESPN Video Games forum, but it's not nearly run as well as this one.

I don't come to this forum for NBA Live anymore, but so I can talk basketball with people who know basketball. That's why I've been here so long.

Yeah you were really annoying back then.

Well ever since Sportscenter showed off ESPN NBA 2k5, ESPN Videogames' message boards have been thrashing the game like crazy. Even Operation Sports is thrashing the game.

Looks like ESPN is going down the drain so far. Maybe Visual Concepts was sleeping when EA Sports released high quality pics and video clips.

I always thought Live´s graphics were much better, only ESPN´s models look better. I like the mascots, they should add them to Live.

I give a shit because you know someone would make a patch for Prince in Live if he was real fucked up in the game. What's the point of making a player like that knowing he looks nothing like that in real life? It doesn't even make any sense. When you look at Shaq dunking, it still looks bad because he shouldn't be looking like that when he dunks anyway like he is flying 8 feet away from the goal. I like other NBA games other than Live. I like NBA Inside Drive basically because I like the little crossovers they have and the extra features. I don't go out and buy the game, but I do rent it. I also like the Street Hoops game that came out a few years back with the And1 ballers on it. The crossovers in that game was nice and I liked the part where you can go to Finishline and buy new gear for your team. You could also go to the jewelry store and buy new ice for your team. You could go to the barbershop as well and either get your haircut or braided. As a matter of fact, I'm going to go buy that game since it's only like $10.00

I thought ESPN 2k4's graphics were pretty bad, their jerseys looked (and still look) like crap. There was something about them I didn't like.

But Live's graphics sucked really bad too.

So I basically think ESPN did a better job. But it wasn't a big accomplishment beating Live's crap graphics. Live's jerseys were heaps better (and Jowe's were heaps better again), ESPN had better player models, faces, and skin/tatoos, and Live also had better arenas/courts.

BTW, this is not an early build problem, but look at the stadium, it's tiny and awful. There are about 15 rows in the lower level. In the actual stadium there's about 22 (I was there I know) and you can't even see the upper level. It's also very flat. As in the seating doesn't go up very steeply.
