Mass Effect: Andromeda just got a 6 from Gamespot. Looks like it's Zelda: Breath of the Wild for me.

Sorry but, I don't go by Gamespot or IGN. I have played MANY great games that they have rated under a 7.

For example, Castlevania Lord of Shadows 2 only received a 6.5 rating from IGN, and the game is awesome all around.

Well, upon checking, my unit's video card doesn't even meet Andromeda's minimum requirements.

Do any of you guys able to play Andromeda? How is it?

Is there a DEMO on Steam for it? I could try it when I get home.

I think there was a free trial version for the game several weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's still up in Origin.

I think my GTX 980 would have been more than decent for it, but I bought a GTX 1080 last week, so I play in 1080p at ultra settings and it's mostly extremely smooth.
I'm still in the early phase, and obviously all the bad reviews and the early concerns have probably influenced me to some degree, so I'd certainly admit that it's not quite the excitement that I had about ME2 or ME3. There certainly are some evident development issues and the pacing is not ideal, but I'm kind of digging the premise of the story so far, more than I expected to at least, and being a huge geek about that series I'm sure I'll enjoy it more than most.

Do you have to import your save game from ME3 or is it really a clean slate to begin with?

Re: Game anticipation thread

Fri Mar 24, 2017 3:24 pm

I think the story in Andromeda has little to do with any ending from 3. So you should be good either way. I was also planning on getting this day 1 but the reviews are a bit discouraging. Also, it's interesting to see news that the team behind Andromeda are looking to fix facial animation. Isn't that too much of a work?

Re: Game anticipation thread

I ended up purchasing it anyway. Downloading it now thru Origin. I'll probably name my Ryder "Zack" and make him look like a Broski. WOO! WOO! WOO!

I did have a look at my dxdiag again, and I have a GTX 750 instead of the 480 I mentioned earlier (I forgot that was the one I sold years ago).

Should I just throw the thought of "Skate 4" out the window?

You don't, no, brand new story indeed.
Playing a bit more right now, and I have to agree with the critics regarding inventory management, research and all that stuff, they really made things far more confusing than they needed to be, and navigation in the menus is annoying as a result of that. Also, right now my game just crashed to desktop, no error message or anything. :|

Alright, so after playing some more and getting over some of the learning curves (which is weird when you've spent countless on the first 3 games), it definitely gets better. Not getting any more crash certainly doesn't hurt either...

Thank you guys for beta-testing the game. I'm sure I'll purchase the game eventually, but not right now.

I was thirty minutes in creating custom heads for the male and female Ryders... when the game crashed. I started over and just used the default male Ryder.

So, apparently this game is still gonna come out at some point

Kind of cool news that Porsche will officially be in a GT game for the first time ever.

https://www.gtplanet.net/porsche-offici ... smo-sport/
After years of wanting and waiting for Porsche to make its way over to the Gran Turismo franchise, it has been confirmed that, yes, the German manufacturer will feature in this year’s Gran Turismo Sport.

With GT Sport’s motorsport focus, we’ll be crossing our fingers that some of the beautiful race cars the manufacturer has brought to life will also make their way to the game. For now, the tease of 500 hp 911 GT3 RS will have to do.

With the second phase of the beta just about to begin, who knows… perhaps some Porsche models may find their way into players hands sooner than they expect. Stay with GTPlanet for the latest in GT Sport and Porsche updates.

Lol it ain't a GT game unless there's a year or two delay
i played it at PS Experience and it was okay but knowing that there won't be the traditional GT simulation mode, I might just pass on this or wait until 2019 when it gets discounted

Re: Game anticipation thread

Thu Apr 13, 2017 7:42 am

I played the Closed Beta a few times. It's good, but honestly my favorite part of GT is the simulation mode so I'll probably give it a pass as well, and hope for Gran Turismo 7 down the line...

The problem is that they put so much work into building a huge collection of cars in its heyday which made gt2 and gt4 the best in the series. But there wasn't much shelf life on them and they tried to bring them into the HD era and so they were a bit out of place as "non-premium" cars. They've obviously put in work on newer premium cars, but man it sucks not to be able to play with an 04 sti or 97 supra or rx7 in HD.

Plus online play and esports kind of forced them to go away from what made them great

Re: Game anticipation thread

Thu Apr 13, 2017 10:22 am

What I don't understand is why they always have to shoot for the moon with their new games.

I feel like a lot of people would have just been happy with a PS4 version of GT6. Upgrade all cars to premium, add some new tracks and just make sure the online works smoothly.

Personally, that would have been enough to keep me happy for a couple of years whilst they worked on GT7.

Must be the Japanese way: the pursuit of perfection. Better than other companies releasing half of a game and making you wait or pay for the rest of it

True, though Gran Turismo 5 was delayed for years and wasn't finished when it came out.

It's a dangerous game to play because with no deadline, they could just work on it forever and it'd never be "finished". They'd just find more stuff to work on
