Since this has turned into the alcohol thread i'm going to attempt to make a top 5 or two

Top 5 reasons not to drink heavily
1. Hangovers-my biggest fear everytime i get drunk, I've felt worse one time in my life and thats when i had vertigo
2. Puking-Anyone who has drank heavily has puked from it before. Unless you are very very hammered, this always sucks. However some people laugh while puking which is amusing
3. Money-It adds up to get drunk (at least in my town). Last night I had a smirnoff Ice, shared 3 martinis, and dinner(an appetizer), and it was up near 20 bucks.
4. Cops-They are pricks to drinkers in my town so when i go out, i'm the most paranoid person you'll ever meet. I'm always scanning every corner for cops to make sure my drunk friends or myself dont get busted for doing anything stupid.
5. Lectures from friends/family that find out-I usually get a nice little lecture about whats the point, show some responsibility yada yada yada. Yet i can honestly say i have never missed an appointment or anything i was supposed to be at due to drinking. Yes it may have made things quite painful, but i was still there.

Top 5 reasons to Drink
1. People Watching-Go out to a club or bar and start watching the people there. You can learn more in a bar one night than you can in 4 years of school if you are in the right place.
2. Heightened sense of self esteem-You never are as confident as when you're drunk. Insecurity goes out the window and you can conquer the world! Until you go to get up off your chair and fall on your face
3. Funny stories-I have few pleasures in life as great as telling my buddies their drunken escapades like trying to put white out tape on the liquor thinking it twas the bottle cap or my friend puking and laughing the entire way home one night. The reactions are quite priceless
4. Chicks are looser-Need i say more?
5. Almost any behavior is acceptable-Anywhere else on the planet, if you walk up behind a girl and start banging your crotch against her, you're going to get arrested. At a club/bar, this is not only happening all the time but is encouraged by everyone involved. If you do something stpuid and your friend calls you out the next day "sorry, i was drunk" and usually all is forgiven.

Just a short list of both sides of drinking, there are many more, but tome those are the top 5

5 reasons for me to drink heavily

1. never have a hangover, practically never puke either

3. doesn't cost that much money
4. no lectures about responsibility
5. it's acceptable to not zip up your fly!

hooray for being asian aka a "lightweight". there's less alcohol required to get us drunk. I say 10-12 shots is max for me before I toss my lunch.

Top 5 NBA ready draft prospects
-since potential doesn't mean much your first year, and I said last year Brandon Roy was the most NBA-ready player in the draft and look what he did this year.
1. Durant- this guy is a scoring machine and is ready to take his game to the NBA. How he'll score against grown men, we'll find out soon enough.
2. Oden- the hype isn't all about his potential. he's got a big body and knows how to use it.
3. Joakim Noah- He might not be the fastest, he might not be the biggest, but he knows how to play the game after all those years at Florida.
4. Corey Brewer- great defense and athleticism and long arms makes him a prototypical NBA player. scores pretty well in college, might take him a little bit to learn how to score in the pros.
5. Acie Law- He gets this as one of the few seniors in the draft. his experience in the tournament this year gave him some leadership skills he'll need.

you and me are exactly on the same page there. i dont meet many people who like vodka straight.

Make that three.

Make that four. When I drink to get drunk, which isn't often, I'm always taking shots of vodka. It's the Polish in me.

Grey Goose is great, and I also enjoy Polar Ice. I can't stand Stolichnaya, though.

Btw, I don't think I'll ever drink again. My partying days are over, I always regret drinking the day after, and if I'm gonna have kids, I'm gonna make damned sure there's no alcohol in the house.

I was in a similar situation in Mexico a week ago and I gotta agree that it's weird not being connected to the internet 24/7 like at home.
the video games I can deal without, but no tv and no food are up there too. you feel disconnected from the world like you're gone from civilization without tv and internet.

funny that you bring this up for a top 5 as this is what i do for a living, i sell back up power supplies lol. out of all the reasons i have heard this list is new to me lol. most people put air conditioning as thier number 1 reason for wanting back up power. infact

1. air conditioning
2. fridge
3. heating
4. security system
5. some form of entertainment(tv,computer, so on)

cleary 1 and 3 are subject to where people live and more people in the south buy back up power supplies. the stove/over is right behind entertainment as alot of people have electric stoves.

Mon Jun 11, 2007 2:07 am

Oh god, when I was vacationing in Thailand, air conditioning was a must. I slept in a hostel without A/C once, and it was horrible.

Mon Jun 11, 2007 2:41 am

I always regret drinking the day after

i regret drinking when i get too far drunk...but once i sober up those thoughts vanish.

See, that's just an indication of my mixed up priorities. ;) I should mention that because of the specific lines that came down in front of my place I still had lights and the air conditioner but no power outlets, so I could see what I was doing and was comfortable temperature-wise, so it was not being able to indulge in any of my hobbies that frustrated me the most.

I hear ya! Combined with the lack of motivation and the fact that I'm dead broke, it's been incredibly painful.

just completed an exam today....went well.....got another in a few hrs. It's nearly 3am and i'm still going at it. Kinda nervous, will be glad when it'll be over.

Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:03 am

Got my first today. Should be the easiest as it is my favourite area of study. Then I have Torts on Friday which should be ok. Monday I have contract law, which is going to hurt so much. So much work to do, so little time.

Thu Jun 14, 2007 1:41 pm

Goddamn, I'd be bitching right now, but I just remembered yesterday was my graduation ceremony. Ahh...

Thu Jun 14, 2007 4:42 pm

had my only final exam today. I got anally raped, i probably got 60% on it at best (and it's 40% of my final grade in the class). luckily i got a 90% on the midterm and did ok on homework and quizzes. maybe I'll pull a C- if I'm lucky. I'm hoping for anything but an F to get myself a passing grade.

Top 5 reasons to ban conversewade2.0/converse/gilzero/xbox360/nbalive07

1. Makes a ton of pointless threads.
2. Spams/bumps like a bitch nowadays.
3. May not be human.
4. Posts work that's not his own and stuff directly from other sites.
5. If he isn't a bot he cannot be over 7 years old.

Top 5 reasons not to ban conversewade2.0/converse/gilzero/xbox360/nbalive07

1. He posts interesting stuff...sometimes...occasionally...rarely...never...
2. He even has more posts than me...cause he spams and makes stupid comments.
3. Is probably the NLSC record breaker for most posts by a bot.
4. Will be out of a job since in his profile it says: "Occupation: NLSC user"
5. Might sue us if for "harming and causing trauma" to a little kid.

After all this is said and done, I actually want to ban the guy (as if I didn't before).
