I figured this would be more appropriate here than the Random thread.

This is so sad, actually blaming the video game.. Seriously, did Jeff jump from a turnbuckle or from a roof of a 10-story-house in the game?
This is just plain stupid, I'm not saying he deserved to die (hell no), but at the age of 9 you should know what's going to happen if you jump from the roof a building with a plastic bag wrapped around your body.

Absolutely. I certainly don't want to say the kid deserved that either but with the game's rating and the warnings the WWE feature on their DVDs and before the weekly shows, there are measures to control exposure to the product and discourage people from imitating it. If you want to go ahead and ignore that or no one's keeping an eye on a kid who doesn't know any better...well, it's very sad but it's like the people who imitate Jackass. If you ignore the warnings, you've got to be held responsible for your own actions.

But plenty will blame the WWE anyway. That's just the way it goes.

It turned out the boy, who received special education instruction

I need to keep a better eye on what they are playing or watching. Kids are so impressionable," she said.

The roof door was open Wednesday morning, and the alarm that should have gone off was broken

Case solved, it's the videogame and WWE's fault. Sue Vince McMahon!

So let's do this.
Here are my predictions for Backlash, if another match gets added to it we just add it as well.

World Heavyweight Champion John Cena vs. Edge (Last Man Standing Match)
ECW Champion Jack Swagger vs. Christian
WWE Champion Triple H, Batista & Shane McMahon vs. Randy Orton & The Legacy
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy ("I Quit" Match)
Chris Jericho vs. WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat
CM Punk vs. Kane

I'm saying both world titles will change hands again .. let's se how this works out.

Backlash could be the place where we finally see a McMahon turn. Shane seems a prime candidate.

John Cena vs Edge
Triple H, Basista and Shane McMahon vs Orton & Legacy
Jack Swagger vs Christian
Jeff Hardy vs Matt Hardy
Chris Jericho vs Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
CM Punk vs Kane

There are some rumours swirling about Taker and HBK possibly hanging it up within a year though Jim Ross has denied those claims, suggesting a possible misunderstanding about some recent house show announcements. It wouldn't surprise me either way as both are getting on in years but are still capable of working at a very high level, though I'm inclined to agree with JR's suggestion that the WWE would make a bigger deal out of it than let the cat out of the bag at a house show.

Despite his age, the way Ricky Steamboat performs makes some younger wrestlers look pathetic.
His performance at WM25 was the only saving grace of that booking, plus the Piper eye poke.

I feel pitty for Jimmy Snuka. All of his moves are gone.

Backlash predictions:

World Heavyweight Champion John Cena vs. Edge (Last Man Standing Match)
ECW Champion Jack Swagger vs. Christian
WWE Champion Triple H, Batista & Shane McMahon vs. Randy Orton & The Legacy
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy ("I Quit" Match)
Chris Jericho vs. WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat
CM Punk vs. Kane

I read a news that there is a rumour that Jeff Hardy will not going to re-new his contract with WWE . He only got 3 months left with his contract.

I read that too, though the WWE would reportedly like to re-sign him. I hope he does re-sign but from all accounts it's a grueling lifestyle with all the travelling they do, so if he's weary of that then you certainly couldn't blame him for wanting to take a breather.

I also hope that will Jeff re-sign. Smackdown needs a performer of his calibre.

Have you also read the news/rumour about Tazz signing with TNA?

Yeah, as a fan of the Superfly when I was a kid, watching him wrestle now makes me sad.

Same here, I was waiting for him to do at least one aerial move. But oh yeah, it's 2009. Steamboat really carried that card.

I really feel that the Smackdown roster was really left out of the draft.

Yeah, it's clearly back to being the definite B brand.

I did, it doesn't surprise me. I don't really follow TNA but from what I can see they're repeating a lot of WCW's mistakes from earlier this decade. I have the upmost respect for Mick Foley, but he's well past his prime and not really the person to be heading up the company as its champion, even if its a short reign. It's funny, when Foley left WWE he's gone on to shoot on McMahon and everyone joined in, but it seems to me Foley's got a big of an ego of his own.

The initial stages of the brand extension certainly saw the talent distributed much more evenly. RAW's still the flagship show though, the (usually) live broadcast and the longer running show in a better timeslot so it was inevitable they'd end that experiment once they established themselves on MyNetworkTV. I'd prefer if they moved JR back to RAW though.

He doesn't have the same chemistry with King that JR does as well. That's probably a bit unfair since JR and King have had a lot longer to develop that chemistry but why ruin a good thing, especially when Smackdown is no longer being pushed as the A brand? Change keeps things from getting stale, but some things shouldn't be messed with.

I think JR should stay on Smackdown, let some "A" class personalities like him give some "glory" to a brand that was being left out.

I'm not sure if this question had been raised in this thread. If so, just disregard this. Here it goes:

1. Who is the most overrated WWE wrestler in history?
2. Who got the biggest push in WWE history?

1. A lot of people would probably say Cena but without the amount of criticism he receives I don't think he can fairly be called overrated; to be overrated, he'd have to be getting a lot more credit from smarks. Possibly The Ultimate Warrior though there's a similar situation there as he's not mentioned as one of the all-time great workers. I'd probably go with Warrior, though there's no denying his popularity or impact.

2. Tough call. Warrior got a huge push and squashed a lot of people in seconds, including some eventual Hall of Famers. Cena is obviously booked to look very superhuman at times. Undertaker is 17-0 at Wrestlemania and went undefeated in his first year with the company and was pushed as a dominant character from day one. Triple H has a lot of title reigns and is booked to look dominant as well. However, I'd probably say Hulk Hogan since he held the title for just over four years and wasn't pinned clean until Wrestlemania VI in 1990.
