I suppose so. Anyway, it's cool to see him get the role.

I don't want to sound like a Cena hater, but I seriouisly can't wait for him to drop the title.
They make him win everything and look like Superman. If somebody has seen RAW this Monday, Cena was in the Walls of jericho for almost a minute and once Jericho got into the STFU he tapped out immediately.
In fact, I can't remember when the last time was Jericho got somebody to submit.

They are back to the Superman booking and with the PG approach his character is getting really corny. There's nothing wrong with his workrate, he'll likely never be a Bret Hart type in that regard but the heat he cops from fans as a worker is overblown in my opinion. The booking and corny nature of the character doesn't do him any favours as far as getting over with everyone as a face in 2009 though, especially amongst older fans.

There's a new name for FU:
During last night's Raw, a commercial aired advertising The Undertaker and Triple H vs Big Show and Edge as this Friday night's Smackdown main event.
Last night Jerry Lawler said that John Cena is now referring to the FU as the "Attitude Adjuster." It appears as if this is the new name for the move, as "Throwback" has not been used in weeks.

A bit better than the Throwback, but not by much. Inevitable in the PG era though.

Does anyone here thinks Matt Hardy is doing a great job on drawing heat? I think he is because when you look at his myspace page and youtube videos, most of the people post hate comments about him. Some of them are really funny but some comments are a bit sad because some people wish him to die. I don't know but I think this just wrong because it's just a storyline and yet people are really taking this seriously.
Also, I got one thing to say on people who wish Matt to die..... MATT HARDY WILL NOT DIE!
Wed Feb 04, 2009 12:47 pm
Agreed, though it suggests there's a fair amount of marks online after all. It's a funny situation with Matt because he has been so accessible to his online fans, yet it's got to be difficult for him to do that now without completely breaking kayfabe.

That has been the case, and that's why I hate to watch RAW if Cena's the Champ. I remember years back when Cena beat Benoit, IN SUBMISSION. What the hell.
Plus the fact that he never really lost any world title that he held (the US and the World Tag champs were dropped by a loss), really makes me sick.
As for FU's new name, it's as bad as how Cena does things.

I prefer the FU better.

But again, Cena's work itself isn't really bad; I'd throw Mike Knox and The Great Khali out there as examples of the company's lesser workers. It's more the way he's booked, which is probably no worse than HHH has been booked in the past (and sometimes still is).

I watched my first full smackdown in a long time last week. Matt's promo got me pumped. I kinda like the new heel Matt.

True, at HHH's last title run he was practically on the same level as Cena is now. But I think the fact the he makes people submit incessantly is why he seems so invincible.
Come think of it, I don't think there's anyone right now in the WWE who uses a submission to end a match besides Cena. Well Jericho does, but the Walls of Jericho don't seem to work anymore. (ok, Undertaker does too, it still aren't many, lol).
Thu Feb 05, 2009 9:00 am
True, since Jericho started using the Codebreaker after his return he tends to win by pinfall. The WWE possibly prefers more pinfall victories as they better accommodate kayfabe screwjob finishes, quicker finishes and they can bill submission matches as special gimmick matches where submission holds are highlighted for a change.
Cena's STF(U) has been oversold ever since he started using it though. To a certain extent that's part of the storyline of a match, the face being in peril at the hands of the heel in a painful submission hold, only to courageously battle out of it and turn the tables. Not a bad strategy and unless you approach the product with the intent on booing the faces and cheering the heels you can get into that but Cena is still booked to be very dominant because it appeals to the younger fans to have such a successful hero and that's who the WWE appears to be focusing on with the PG approach. Doesn't do much for older fans or even younger fans who just can't buy into it.

PG approach
Goddamnit. I heard they won't do Playboy with the Divas anymore, that was my favorite time of the year.
And Cena's finisher got renamed again, it's now the Attitude Adjuster.
Fri Feb 06, 2009 9:02 am
No loss not having a Playboy related angle heading into Wrestlemania though. From what I read, Kelly Kelly was asked if she'd do it and she turned it down so it could be a combination of the PG approach and none of the current Divas wanting to do it, which is fair enough.

Funny that Umaga is still squashing around.
Sun Feb 08, 2009 6:30 pm
Yeah, I don't get how that gimmick is popular with (or at least accepted by) smarks these days. True, he does a good job of selling it but it's pretty outdated and limiting in that he can't promo, especially without a mouthpiece as he used to have in Estrada. I really hope they don't do Taker/Umaga at Wrestlemania. How do you build a feud like that? Taker barely speaks as part of his gimmick and Umaga never does as part of his, they'd probably have to have Taker do the talking in that build. That could work, but I'm hoping those plans have been scrapped or postponed. That's not to say it would be bad, but I'm just not that keen on another generic Taker vs Dominating Monster Heel angle.

Like that of the Henry-Taker match at 'Mania 22.

Or against Giant Gonzalez.

It's 2009 and mofos still think wrestling is real. Chris Jericho involved in a non kayfabe brawl with fans outside a RAW house show.http://www.24wrestling.com/news.php?sub ... m=&ucat=6&
Mon Feb 09, 2009 6:51 pm
I saw that on WNW. I'm sure the fact the woman is wearing a Cena shirt is creating plenty of punchlines around the IWC right now.
Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:16 pm
That just shows how good Jericho is in doing his job as a heel, he can reel in morons just like that, although I'm a bit disappointed with his choice of ride.
Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:46 pm
They're making fun of this in the MMA forums and giving them more reason to make fun of wrestling fans.
Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:46 am
That doesn't surprise me. It seems a lot of people feel the need to explain to wrestling fans that it's not real, as though we're all marks. Are incidents like this all that different to actors being accosted over what their characters have done in TV shows/movies? Still, it wouldn't be the Internet with one fanbase making fun of another.

Watched Shane attempt his full ring trash can kick in the face in jeans and loafers last night.
That failure of hitting the mat 3 feet before he kicked was pretty funny to me.
God, I remember the first time he did that, I almost shit myself.
