Yeah I think experience matters almost more than age. Like a 30 year old with say 3 fights has more longevity than a 30 year old with 20 fights. On The Ultimate Fighter they have a few older guys who've come from the NFL, they aren't damaged goods yet.
That being said, Todd Duffee is 23 and if he's not the UFC champion at some point in his career I'll be shocked.
Apparently he just joined Xtreme Couture because he's going to college in Nevada.

I don't know if Tim Hague was trying to do a feint twice or he just doesn't know what to do at that moment. Poor guy.

I'm not so sure on Duffee yet. But I'd like to see more of him. For all we know, he might end up like a Houston Alexander or something.
Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:43 pm
It's just amazing that he's only 23. Hope he trains right in his career without any injuries so we can see the best of him.
Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:48 pm
He is huge for a 23 year old. He beat Assuerio Silva apparently in one of his first pro fights.
Speaking of Houston Alexander, supposedly he's going to fight Kimbo at the TUF finale.
Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:54 pm
That's what I've heard as well. Even before TUF 10 started. That'll be interesting at least.
Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:59 pm
It'd be a pretty cool fight to watch providing it doesn't finish within like 30 seconds. Houston Alexander scares the hell out of me when he is at his best. I remember I was thinking about taking up MMA years ago, then I saw his fight with Keith Jardine and was like "fuck that" and never thought about it again.
Fri Nov 13, 2009 3:26 pm
Yeah, he's an interesting case. Powerful hands but suspect jaw. He might just be the next Kimbo killer.

So you can win fights in the ufc by leaning on someone for 15 minutes. Boring and lame.
Sun Nov 15, 2009 6:24 pm
Kudos to Randy Cutuor though. He's an old man fighting his heart out.
Also Dan Hardy and Bisping won.
Sun Nov 15, 2009 6:38 pm
Vera should've gotten rounds 2 and 3. MMA judging sure does suck. The Athletic Commissions should do something about this.

Thought it was kinda disrespectful towards Couture the way Joe Rogan was talking to Vera after the fight saying he should've won and the judging is messed up etc. Rogan is just a mega suck-up.
Pretty ok card. Bisping's fight was cool, Hardy/Swick was boring, Roli Delgado should get knocked out like that on a daily basis. God I hated that guy on TUF. That big Swedish guy looked decent.

Totally agreed. Thought Joe Rog was over doing it, since the decision could have gone either way, but I thought Cutuor won it too in point system wise. Round 1 belonged to Cutuor, round 2 to Vera, round 3 being a tricky one. Earlier part belonged to Cutuor and Vera only received a few points for little bit of striking and take down which led to not much, so I also thought it was Cutuor's round by tiny bit. Although it seemed he was the one that was more damaged, it's not how judges score the fight, so whatever.

Roli posts on a forum like a number of fighters (I lurk there). Seems like a cool guy. Didn't see TUF tough so I can't comment on that. That was a sick KO by winner though.
Can't spell Couture can you, zanshadow?

TMZ broke the story today that UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is headed to the Mayo Clinic and could be facing major surgery for the unknown illness he is suffering from. It was revealed recently that he was suffering from mononucleosis and that was the reason he had to pull out of his scheduled title defense against Shane Carwin at UFC 106 however, during a trip to Canada over the past week he collapsed and had to be rushed to hospital. UFC president Dana White stated over the weekend that Lesnar wanted his illness kept private but White has stated it is NOT cancer or AIDS and it is not believed to be life threatening though there is speculation that he may never fight again.

It's just fucking sad that we might not see Brock fighting ever again. I hear that he won't fight at least till February and retirement is also being considered.
Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:25 pm
All of that from the kissing disease?
Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:34 pm
Read somewhere that the other illness was intestinal. So that might be the one that's keeping him on the shelf. Heavyweight division really took a lot of blows lately. Brock out, Nog with staph, Carwin with surgery.
Tue Nov 17, 2009 1:04 pm
Any idea on how they will handle the title? Cain vs Mir?
Tue Nov 17, 2009 3:30 pm
Probably. But they already scheduled Mir vs Kongo. So Cain vs Mir might be a while if it happens.
Tue Nov 17, 2009 3:44 pm
Carwin having surgery has probably cost himself a shot at the interim title, if that's the way they decide to go.
Tue Nov 17, 2009 3:47 pm
Awwww... I can't say that I was a fan of Brock, but really enjoyed watching him, and always had fun following his articles around. I was just fucking shocked to hear the news.
Out of 5 current UFC champions, 4 are being hampared by injuries, BJ Penn being an exception. These days sure are sucky days for MMA fans out there.

Seems like they don't train cardio or something on the ultimate fighter. Was there an entertaining fight so far?
