Checked whether the desktop downstairs can run GTA IV...no way. I even need a new processor just to run this game on PC.
There's a website that compares your desktop to the specs needed for the game...I'll post it later.

I pre-ordered this for PC... worth it?

Hmm don't know. I have it for ps3 and to me it was a big let down.

I enjoyed it, but I still haven't finished it. Guess I got tired of the fucking phonecalls or something.
Sat Nov 15, 2008 5:42 am
i finished it, but haven't really touched it since. I'm considering returning it for credit at my store. They've added the trophies for the PS3 version, but I didn't like the game enough to play it over and try for the trophies.

Even though I'm a fan of the series I wasn't able to get right into it the first time around. I'm sure I'll pick it up eventually and spend a lot more time with it, that's how I was with GTA3 as much as I liked it. I didn't actually finish it until some four years after I got it.

Sounds awesome, the release date is a bit disappointing though. February 17, that's almost a year from when GTA 4 was released. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.
I recently been playing GTA 4 again alot. Finished the monster stunts and the assissinations today.
But I don't even finished the story yet, but I think im one mission away from the big deal - revenge deciscion.
Still love this game.

Agreed, that sounds fantastic. I'll have to pick up GTA IV again before it comes out.

Pretty cool.

Wow very nice video. How did they get all the cool angles, replay feature?

title of video, "PC VIdeo Editor"
it was done with the PC "exclusive" montage editor

I don't think I'll be picking up the PC version just yet, I'm not confident my system will be able to run it very smoothly. It would seem I'm just about at the point where I need to make some upgrades for my PC gaming.
Sat Nov 29, 2008 9:11 am
Damn it, my PC won't be able to run it. Plus I don't have the hard-drive space to cough up 16gb.
Sat Nov 29, 2008 6:06 pm
I've got the space but it would leave me with less than I'd like to have free. I'll probably be updating my system through eBay in the near future though, a lot cheaper than buying a new system and it should allow me to run GTA IV and other Xbox 360 ports without much trouble since I'm a little over the minimum specs as it is right now.

Warning: PC version is a failport. Based on early impressions it runs like shit even on low for ultimate top-end graphic cards.
I haven't played it, but have seen the whining in a number of places.
A list of the install process:
- Had to install Rockstar Social Club
- Had to install Games for Windows Live
- Had to install the Game and securom
- Be told I cant save the game without a Live account
- Get Windows Live Account
- Get Games Account
- Be told I don't have a Rockstar Social Club account every time the game is booted
- Sit through loading screen with no loading bar
- Instantly notice the major graphical glitches. Cannot see anything in opening scene. Just the ocean and a few jaggies
- Get to gameplay and framerate is 10-20 fps.
- Restart game but be told I don't have the original disk by securom
- Try for the third time and securom works
- Repeat the same issues
From the ReadMe:
Most users using current PC hardware as of December 2008 are advised to use medium graphics settings.

lol, awesome..

Guess I will be holding onto the 360 version for a while.

Me too, though my current specs are an issue as much as anything else. I'm still looking to make some upgrades but I think I'll pass on GTA IV PC for now.
Thu Dec 04, 2008 9:26 am
I completely agree.
And even if I had a PC that would run it, it wouldn't give me much, honestly. I played through the story and I wouldn't pay 60 bucks for better graphics and the possibility of modding it. And a video editor ..

I've read the reviews and it doesn't seem to be quite that bad. They do mention that you do need a beefed up PC to run it, but we already knew that since they announced the (outrageous) minimum requirements. I'm broke right now, but since I never played it on console, I'll definitely get it in a couple of weeks I think.
