Nick wrote:Oh he told the king to prove to everyone that he picked the wrong marble, and that the blue marble is still in the jar.

How would he do that, though?

Thu Feb 16, 2006 11:44 pm

He could've picked the black marble... then piffed it down a drain and there'd still be a black marble left... so that would look like he picked a blue.

Thu Feb 16, 2006 11:44 pm

He took both marbles out, showing everyone there was no blue one.

Thu Feb 16, 2006 11:46 pm

That makes more sense, lol.

I need to go for the simpler answer. :x

That is a good idea. But that would only prove that the King cheated. It would noit guarantee him that his own goal would be accomplished, what with the commotion and all.

The simpler answer actually is...

He could've picked the black marble... then piffed it down a drain and there'd still be a black marble left... so that would look like he picked a blue.

How is it that a person born in Massachusetts, whose parents were both born in Massachusetts, is not born a U.S. Citizen?

Fri Feb 17, 2006 1:06 am

He was born in the time before Massachusetes was part of the US of A? The British still ruled?

He was born in the time before Massachusetes was part of the US of A? The British still ruled?

That is very, very close, but it needs rephrasing.

Fri Feb 17, 2006 1:43 am

Well, according to Wikipedia Massachusetes was colonised in 1783, if the person was born before that time, he'd not be a US Citizen, given Massachusetes would be a British colony.

How else should I phrase it?

If it's right, I've got a riddle. :D

Fri Feb 17, 2006 1:50 am

Okay, I'll give it to you.

But, for historical accuracy's sake: Officially, there was no United States of America prior to the Declaration of Independence in 4/7/1776. So the guy could have been born in any state, inluding MA, prior to 1776, and he still would not be a 'US Citizen'.

Up next:

Dead on the field lie ten soldiers in white, felled by three eyes, black as night.
What's going on here?

Fri Feb 17, 2006 4:36 am

Easy :)

Bowling.

Fri Feb 17, 2006 4:38 am

Then, what does "felled by three eyes" mean? :?:

Fri Feb 17, 2006 4:40 am

"Felled by three eyes, black as night"

The black ball with three holes for your fingers

Fri Feb 17, 2006 6:04 am

Correct!

Here's the next one:

When you stop and look, you can always see me. If you try to touch you cannot feel me. I cannot move, but as you near me, I will move away from you. What am I?

Fri Feb 17, 2006 6:13 am

the moon?

Fri Feb 17, 2006 6:43 am

No. Technically, you move either nearer or further form the moon, whenever you move.

Fri Feb 17, 2006 7:09 am

My shadow?

Fri Feb 17, 2006 7:30 am

I cannot move, but as you near me, I will move away from you.

Nope. Nice idea, though.

Fri Feb 17, 2006 8:25 am

I cannot move, but as you near me, I will move away from you.

:wall:

Is it smoke?

EDIT: Is it possible to touch it, or can you just try?

Is it the horizon? It doesn't really move but if I go closer to it, it "seemingly" moves away.
