May I ask if there is any progress Mercury? Not rushing you orso, but I'm eager to see what you came up with using this new found Logo technique you mentioned.

No I haven't lost interest... I've made some progress.. atm it's all about time that I've been able to invest given my busy schedule.. that said it's feasable that I'll have something you can show off to teh ladies either today or tomorrow

ok.. neither of these are finished products.. still in the conceptual stages.. just want to know which direction you're leaning towards..

one is more detailed and aggressive the other is more abstract and neutral.. both could easily be developed to a higher level or altered in style..

don't allow the fact that there's a circle around design 2 to effect ur decision.. because that's something that can be done in 3 seconds.. I was always going to have some kind of bordering.. also feel free to poo poo both.. if you want more of a sports type logo.. similar to say the bobcats logo that's easily a direction I can go in..

I'm really only playing around at this stage.. I'm confident enough with vector art that I can acheive pretty much anything with a little effort.. so if you have any examples of logo art that you want me to emulate I'd be happy to duplicate the style.. I'm not trying to do something incredibly artistic or nething.. my only goal is to give you something you want.. as far as my technical skills go it's pretty much the sky's the limit

as example below this is a vector trace I did a couple of months back for a t-shirt design..

the beauty of vector art is that you don't need to be able to draw perfect line images.. you can quickly manipulate verticies to acheive the same if not better effect.. all you need is some technical skill and practice

while I'm at it I've got a couple of quick questions..

What does being "Jackal" mean to you?

What colors do you like?

Would you like the logo have text or letter integration?

If the logo is bordered or shape based what shapes do you like?

.. do google searches for logo design, tattoo design, or look at some of your favourite sports/entertainment logos.. think about movies, games, clothing brands etc that you identify with.. and give me as many examples as you like..

the more you give me to go on the less playing around I have to do and the faster you'll get a quality logo that you want

From the two you've shown me, I liked the first design more, it's more complex but not too complex either. I was a bit uncomfortable with the teeth though, well fangs whatever, they seem not really joined to the rest of the head. Other than that it's nice.

Here are some logo's to get you an idea as to what I would like to see if possible, not exactly like it but so that you get an idea, I'll post them in a sequence of my preference:

I tend to associate the word Jackal with how I tend to describe myself, dark, sinister & unforgiving.

I like darkish green/blue. Black should dominate though, tints of dark green/blue would be welcomed too (see the previous sig I had, the Predator one).

Regarding text, if you could work in "Jackal" (duh) in a genial way, that'd be awesome too, so not just like smack right there in the middle but something...different.

About the bordering, something circelish would be nice. Like the second or third logo that I showed up there, it's not per se a final form, thus triangle, circel or square, it's different yet appealing to the eye. (Mine atleast.)

Anyways, I can't express how thankful I am to you for even attempting this, I'll probably have this signature/avatar with me for a long long time, as I've had the Jackal nickname for ages now.

Oh, I also tend to associate the word Jackal with the movie The Jackal. With Bruce Willis & Richard Gere, where Willis is portrayed as a bad guy to the bone, ruthless & ofcourse, unforgiving. But naturally.

So from what I can tell you at the moment, I tend to lean towards the darker, more evil, more...psychotic side of the world. Hope this helps in any way possible. If you have more questions, ask them, the more you ask the more I can explain I suppose.

This is exactly what I've been looking for btw, a trademark sort of thing, not a sig of a NBA Player who I tire of, something of my own.

Perhaps we could make an NLSC Gallery of Art with all the sigs created & that are at the disposal of usage to others. This way a lot of folks won't repost requests, tell me if it sounds like an idea.

Well I've started it, I'll finish it off soon, it's locked as of now. Another suggestion would be to bundle all the tutorials & put them in the Tutorial thread. Perhaps we could unsticky the threads & just provide links (with descriptions) in one Tutorial Sticky. This way we have less stickied topics. I shall consult with Jae & Matthew and see what they think about it.
