how did he become champ if he wasn't in the scramble match? or was he added on at the last second?

Tue Sep 09, 2008 4:46 am

Yes, CM Punk was attacked by Orton, DiBiase and Rhodes. Suddenly he was unable to compete and Jericho was his replacement.

He didn't do much honestly, just one sneeky pin.

Tue Sep 09, 2008 8:24 am

After seeing the results, I'm not surprised that Matt and HHH would still win the ECW and WWE championships.

On the WHC Scramble, I think it's more reasonable to put Orton in instead of Jericho.

So now that Y2J is Champ, do you guys see an extension of the HBK-Y2J feud now for the title?

I don't think so. The match at Unforgiven should have been the end of the feud I guess.

they should bring back old school stipulations to matches like No DQ, pins count anywhere, steel cage matches (the blue cage, not the cheap chain link fence), and ladder matches (or maybe even TLC). I say Jeff Hardy vs HHH ladder match at the nextt PPV.

Orton hasn't been cleared to wrestle though, with all the injuries they've had I'd say they're playing it very safe with him. As for the HBK/Jericho feud, I'd definitely like to see it continue with the title involved but that depends on HBK's triceps injury. The thing is, Jericho was still declared the winner last night so HBK really hasn't emerged victorious yet, so the angle is still open for a more definitive conclusion. I'd like it to be that HBK gets another title run before he hangs it up, much like Taker's opportunities the past couple of years.

I believe they've gone to the new style of cages because they're safer than the old design. I agree though, some of the traditional gimmicks would be better than an overbooked concept like the Scramble matches.

So I was wrong, they actually continue with the HBK/Y2J feud. Yesterday on Raw Adamle announced that it will be Michaels vs. Jericho in a Ladder Match at No Mercy for the Heavyweight Title.

They also announced that Batista and JBL will match up at No Mercy for the #1 Contender spot for the WHC. Man I am getting sick of JBL, really. He's getting one title shot after another.

Hoping HBK goes over and at least has a short reign. Not that I mind Jericho as champ, far from it, but for the feud to end HBK needs to pick up a decisive victory and if the title is involved, so much the better.

I'm tired of JBL too, though I didn't care for his commentary either. It's four years on but his elevation to the main event scene was very sloppily done, one minute he's midcard at best and then he's a long reigning champion. He can really draw heat though, you've got to give him that but his status in the company really is a testament to how far you can go if you're a big guy and foster a good friendship with Vince McMahon. At least he doesn't break out the "wrestling god" stuff in his promos these days.

The WWE are idiots for putting making Miz > John Morrison

The Shaman of Sexy is better than that reality show reject.
At least WWE is pushing Shelton "The Gold Standard" Benjamin.

Sun Sep 21, 2008 8:20 pm

Supposedly they're unhappy with the amount of heat Morrison is drawing, feeling he's too comical in his character rather than being genuinely heelish.

Mon Sep 22, 2008 12:54 am

Then it begs the question..why have him co-hosting a comical show like "The Dirt sheet"?

Ron Killings : Next Face of the WWE

Credit: Wrestling Observer Radio

The general feeling backstage is that Ron Killings is protected by management because they view him as WWE's "chosen one", and their next big star. Officials are pushing him to interact more with the crowd with his rap.

The fact that he is African-American makes him even more valuable to WWE. The company is trying to increase their minority audience, and views Killings as the guy to get that job done. Shelton Benjamin was once considered that guy, but management feels that Killings relates more to the audience and Shelton can be complacent at times with no desire to move up on the food chain

I guess they want him to come off as more of an ass, though with the number of smarks these days a solid bit like The Dirt Sheet isn't always going to get over as a heel segment.

Good news for Ron Killings. Last time the WWE tried to appeal to a demographic in that manner, Khali ended up with the World Heavyweight Championship. I certainly wouldn't mind that happening with Killings, being light years ahead of Khali in everything but size.
It's DX!
Wed Oct 01, 2008 2:11 pm

Apparently that was done to hype Smackdown's move to MyNetworkTV with Triple H's appearance. It'd be kind of cool if HBK wins the World Heavyweight belt and then tags with HHH as the major champions of both brands in another "once-off" DX reunion match, perhaps at the upcoming three hour RAW or at a PPV.

Wed Oct 01, 2008 4:45 pm

I'm hoping for it too. Like the old DX days when they were both champions.

Thu Oct 02, 2008 10:07 am

True, except the only belt HHH had during the original DX run was the European title.

Thu Oct 02, 2008 12:30 pm

Mike Adamle announced last Monday that if Rey Mysterio lose his match against Kane in No Mercy, he'll be forced to remove his mask. I wonder if WWE will remove his mask but I hope Rey keeps it.

Yeah, the good old days. I've seen the DX vs Y2J-Cade match and the crowd was very much fired up when DX came in. Just amazing.

I doubt that they would have to have Rey lose it. I think it's just like the old skool feuds wherein a speculation is added but never be done. Oh wait, there's Molly and Vince.

Fri Oct 03, 2008 11:46 am

Well, Rey did lose his mask back in WCW in a match involving Kevin Nash so really, he shouldn't have the mask today since wearing the mask again after losing it is against luchador tradition (or so I've read). I doubt he'll lose his mask though as it's a big merchandise seller and a big part of his image that I doubt the WWE wants to change at this point in time. Then again, this being the WWE you never know.

Fri Oct 03, 2008 9:21 pm

I think he also got his mask removed in the past during one match, I can't remember who the opponent was exactly, I think it was Brock Lesnar.

Sat Oct 04, 2008 11:20 am

Not that I can recall, though during his feud with Eddie Guerrero in mid 2005, Eddie ripped his mask and half tore it off during a segment on Smackdown.

Mon Oct 06, 2008 7:20 am

Anyone else agreeing that there probably won't be a single title change tonight at No Mercy?

Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:46 am

Quite likely. If any title is changing hands my guess is that it would be the WHC and a couple of weeks ago I thought they might go that way but with HBK getting the last word on RAW last week, that usually telegraphs a loss at the PPV.
