Double post to get around the thread glitch...it's one of phpBB's annoying quirks. It might be worth starting a new thread though it's an easy enough workaround.

I watched The Great American Bash yesterday, and I have to say that was one of the worst PPVs I have ever seen. (I haven't seen too many, but that one was bad, imo.)

The first was for the WWE Tag Team Championship. I mean the match itself was ridiculous. Four Tag Teams but only one guy of two teams are wrestling. Now those two teams tag themselves in and out and the other two just stand in the corners and watch, when they finally can slap somebody on the back to tag themselves in.
In my opinion it should have looked like this: One guy of every team in the ring, and everybody is able to tag his partner in. I actually thought the whole time it would look like this.
Anyway, the winners. Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins??? Are you kidding me? Finlay and Hornswoggle would have been nice, but any other Tag Team competing would have been better that Hawkins and Ryder.

The U.S. Championship Match was probably the best match of the night. It was clear for me that Benjamin would win it, after Kofi won the IC belt. I'd have liked Hardy reigning a bit longer, but I think nothing wrong with Benjamin winning it.

The ECW Championship match .. Oh well .. That was probably the slowest match I've ever seen. Colin Delany turning on Tommy Dreamer, what a lack of creativity.

The Y2J-HBK matchup. Well it was alright, but it got really slow in the end. Michaels should lay off the razor blades ..

Nothing wrong with the Divas Championship Match, it was clear that Michelle would win.

The WH Championship match. Batista the favorite and CM Punk the one who wanted to prove everybody wrong. Batista was on his way to win it, suddenly Kane came in and finished both off, causing a disqualification. I didn't like it.

The Cena-JBL Street Fight was just ridculous. Nothing more to say.
The WWE Championship, well I knew Vickie would ruin it for Edge, but in that way? Was a bit weird. Who was Edge supposed to spear? The wedding planner? Why? She wanted to help him. The ref? I doubt it. Vickie? Well no, because he was shocked when he speared her.

Let's hope SummerSlam will be bitter.

Seems to always be the case for the GAB, I can't remember the last time it got widely favourable reviews. I didn't order the show myself so I can't really comment on it but the reviews I've seen have rated it average at best. It's amazing that they're still running with that name since it originated in WCW. Now that all PPVs are tri-branded, I think they should resurrect King of the Ring starting next year, rather than just doing the tournament on TV every couple of years. It would be a decent means of elevating talent.
Apparently The Undertaker will be moving to RAW after Summerslam, since his return to Smackdown to face Edge in Hell in a Cell will be the blowoff for the feud. Still hoping for a lengthy title run wherever he goes, he deserves one before his career is through.
So The Great Khali is in the WWE title picture again. Can't say I'm enthused, we all know that Vince McMahon loves the big guys but if the WWE wants to try and establish Smackdown as the A show with HHH and JR being moved there in anticipation of the MyNetworkTV debut, they should keep Khali out of the main event scene or better yet, move him back to ECW. I can't speak for everyone but I reckon more people would be more interested in HHH/Edge and HHH/Jeff Hardy angles instead.

OK, moving on...

Does anyone see Punk holding the title beyond Summerslam?

Mon Jul 28, 2008 10:57 pm

For some reason, I see Batista winning the title sometime soon. Probably not during Summerslam though, just to give Punk a lengthier title reign.
OFF TOPIC: Where the hell has Rey Mysterio been?

Mon Jul 28, 2008 11:36 pm

Depending on who his opponent will be. Looks like Cena and JBL are in the title picture too. Maybe Kane as well. After tonight's Raw we will know who he is facing, so it's a bit easier to tell. If it's going to be a Triple threat match with Cena and Batista I don't think Punk will retain.
But since there are 5 guys wanting the Chip, a ladder match or something like that would be cool.

Rey has had a short feud with Santino, but after a match, which Rey won, it seemed to be over, since mainly Santino doesn't stand a chance against him, and secondly because Santino is in another storyline with Beth Phoenix at the moment.

Mon Jul 28, 2008 11:52 pm

Why does every time I see Santino in a match, he always loses? The only time I have seen him win a match is the first time he wrestled and that was against Umaga.

Maybe a Elimination Chamber for the WHC perhaps? Just not Batista or Cena, give them to JBL, after a month then let Batista or Cena win the title

Tue Jul 29, 2008 1:00 am

Rey is still recovering from surgery. He did that short program with Santino after the Draft so it would make his selection relevant and keep his name out there.

Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:23 pm

FTW! Mike Adamle new Raw GM!

Google "jobber"

Tue Jul 29, 2008 3:12 pm

Could've gone with Ric Flair, could've reinstated William Regal, could've done a lot of things but instead they go with Mike Adamle. It does make feel a bit concerned about Vince McMahon though, I guess those head injuries were legit with booking like this. I guess the next brilliant moves will be to put the belt back on Khali and move JR to ECW.

Tue Jul 29, 2008 4:45 pm

That sucks. :shake:

Tue Jul 29, 2008 6:19 pm

It begs the question as to whom is going to call ECW alongside Tazz. Maybe they'll have JR pull double duty since they've scrapped plans to tape ECW on the same day as RAW.

Maybe they'll bring back Joey Styles.

Wed Jul 30, 2008 7:20 am

According to the latest reports, it will be Todd Grisham. We'll find out soon enough.

Wed Jul 30, 2008 8:59 am

Rey Mysterio!

I just watch WWE when it happens to be on tv, such as when im flipping through channels

Wed Jul 30, 2008 5:51 pm

So it's official, Grisham is the new voice of ECW. Not a bad place for him to hone his craft as he'll probably be on one of the main brands someday if he sticks around long enough and I'd say he's better than Adamle but Adamle as GM of RAW is...well...uninspired. He doesn't seem to have the personality to play an on-camera role like that.

Thu Jul 31, 2008 7:16 am

Meh, no title defence for Punk on SS?

Thu Jul 31, 2008 5:43 pm

I expect one will be setup before the PPV rolls around.

Fri Aug 01, 2008 8:10 pm

Fri Aug 01, 2008 9:05 pm

He certainly is.
